- Marvel's The Punisher is an American television series created by Steve Lightfoot for the streaming service Netflix, based on the Marvel Comics character Punisher. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the franchise's films and other television series. It is a spin-off from the first Marvel Netflix series, Daredevil (2015-2018). The Punisher was produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Bohemian Risk Productions, with Lightfoot serving as showrunner.
Jon Bernthal reprises his role from Daredevil as Frank Castle / Punisher, a vigilante who uses lethal methods to fight crime. Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, and Deborah Ann Woll also star. They are joined by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Daniel Webber, Paul Schulze, Michael Nathanson, and Jaime Ray Newman in the first season, with Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham joining for the second season. A television series centered on the Punisher received a put pilot commitment at Fox in 2011, but that project fell through. In June 2015, Bernthal was cast as the character to appear in the second season of Daredevil. Development on a spin-off began by January 2016, and Netflix ordered the series that April when the involvement of Bernthal and Lightfoot was confirmed. The series explores the title character's grief and violence, and was filmed in New York City.
The first season was released in its entirety on Netflix on November 17, 2017, followed by the second on January 18, 2019. They were met with mixed reviews, but received several accolades including a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award nomination. Netflix cancelled The Punisher on February 18, 2019. All of the Marvel Netflix series were removed from Netflix on March 1, 2022, after Disney regained the license for them. They began streaming on Disney+ from March 16. I absolutely LOVED The SECOND SEASON !!!! The writing was so incredible. And the relationship between Frank and the little girl was really cool. So many things were cool and so many subs plot stories were awesome.

I wanna see a legit Battle Van with some tech this season.
Me too, they keep forgetting Big Pun is like a low-tech Batman, he's not as rich but does still have his toys. The Battle Van definitely needs to appear, all armored up too, I hope they take inspiration from Marvel Heroes Omega. Also, if he's gonna appear in DOOMSDAY and/or Secret Wars, his War Machine armor is a must!
Season two was amazing. I feel sorry for the people who didn’t like it because it was super dramatic and action-packed. I can’t wait to see more of Jon Bernthal as Punisher! Bring him on! I want to see plenty more of him! I also wouldn’t mind if they decided to explore the idea of him and Karen being a couple! They have great chemistry together!
I would honestly love season 1 of this new series to pick up just when season 2 ends the events of infinity war happens with the snap we then see punisher go through the 5 years of killing the remaining criminals in New York City!

I never understood why the second season of Date Devil wasn't received as well.. it was my favorite season by far. Partly due to the introduction of the Punisher.
Can Disney Plus make Punisher fights Hydra soldiers? Because, in the comics, Punisher is inspired by Captain America/Steve Rogers.
Well he's for sure in the new Daredevil series so there's absolutely going to be a spotlight on him again at some point. And it will be rated R if it's a movie, John Bernthal has actively spoken out against making the Punisher a PG-13 type character for the sake of money. There's more than hope, it's totally going to happen.

For a moment I thought you'd say non violent, or less badass. Which would be odd for Punisher - with guns, less realistic if they have no impact. I don't get this, I like both shows Daredevil and this. I didn't have a problem with them other than Marvel considering them non canon for a long time. Better than most Disney Plus shows imo.
Love the punisher character and I enjoyed the movies and the tv show. I just need more content with Punisher so I’m happy the show is back.

I honestly think both Punisher seasons were a wasted opportunity, it was not a bad show, but they made the exact same mistake as with the Jane movie, they turned him into a spy with some punishment sprinkled around, but their worst mistake was that Bernthal's version keeps trying to steer away from his alter go, even Jane's version was fully committed to punishment the moment he picked up the T-shirt from the remainings.... They need to drop the bs convoluted conspiracy plot that somehow keeps revolving around his family's death for 3 seasons already and turn up the punishing action up to 11 if they wana make the character justice.
And for the love of god, is it that difficult to give him a slick back??? Its the most basic thing ever and they can't even do that... lol
I can't speak for everyone but tom Jane was the best because he had the most humanity about him. Sure it's so tame compared to any other iteration and the movie isn't that good but if he's the best actor to play the guy
I’m just hearing this now and why would any one be mad its a continuation?? I love the Punisher series, Madoni, Karen, Curtis, Mahoney, Billy Russo *even John Pilgrim like I really love both seasons of the Punisher ngl I mean imo I just don’t think anyone could’ve done and still do what Bernthal does in bringing that raw emotion to the character especially with the subtle gestures Jon does and just his ferociousness I think Bernthal captures Frank Castle’s inner turmoil with such subtle vulnerability that balances with his violent exterior in such a way where I can’t see any one else embodying the role of The Punisher like he does
For the most part. I Agree with YOU. I like the Thomas Jane version also. I kinda liked the comics. But HANDS DOWN… My favorite version of the punisher without a doubt not even a sliver. Is the Jon Bernthal on Netflix shows. And Natalie my fine with all of the Netflix stuff being canon sounds great. If everybody loved the original punisher so much then what’s the problem. Even if season two wasn’t well received. that doesn’t mean they make this thing that it’s going to be great. It’s called course correction🤷🏻♂️

I would'nt be surprised Disney feels like they should redo everything anyway. Copyrights being that kind of product and Disney being that kind of freaking long legacy they have a natural tendendy to shape the products they touch precisely as the Walt machine was designed. To be fair, Punisher kinda already had a soft reboot in his own series. I'm talking about the family photo with blonde kids that Karen saw in DD Season 2 vs the family picture that Frank carries around with him that only show darker hair kids... LOL, unless Frank had an unknown affair.
Bernthal is by far the best frank castle. It's not even close

How can it be a soft reboot if Frank's in Daredevil born again and that's a continuation.
The Punisher show was good, but he barely got to be the Punisher we know from the comics in that show. They basically skipped everything from the comics that dealt with the criminal underworld and the mob and just focused on the government and military corruption.
So now its read the comics is it Armin, yet you said before many people don't, and that is fine. Flip flop again.
The Punisher with John Travolta is the worst of all the Punisher. He like Batman a loner & the movie gave him roommates & the plot is rip-off of much better film License to Kill with villain turning on his own men's. Dolph Lundgren's one was better with only friend an homeless man.

@deemurdock_ The whole killing the monster makes you the monster theme they leaned to heavy into in all of the shows. The rythym of those shows I definitely didn't like. They were trying to shove some mental health kind of theme in the show, and I really don't like the side characters they spent to much time on like Madini. There was way to much filler I remember watching with a friend and having to tell him just watch one more episode something cool happens at the end of it.

Punisher was best in Daredevil season 2. Punisher seasons 1 and 2 were mid. The ending in season 2 is the Punisher we should have gotten from the start. Daredevil got better each season.

@@DrPhantom64 There were a few bad parts, namely him shooting up the hospital, putting civvies at risk, something Frank wouldn't do, which is why they write it in with him telling Karen she was never in danger. Still ooc though, they tried painting him as s psycho, which is marvel's course for him nowadays.

Nah, Punisher was mid, he was best in the Daredevil series and the end of Punisher season 2. It was Daredevil and the rest were mid. Everyone wanted more Daredevil, if others appear in his show cool. If they make another Punisher, make it like the end of season 2 when he goes full Punisher.
