Trev is right on the money. Cats have scent glands not just on their paws and chin, which is why they rub their face on EVERYTHING, but all over the body. They have scent glands on their lower ears, forehead, tail, rear, and back. Rolling around is how they spread their scent. This is yet another trait domestic cats share with big cats. Cats also sometimes whip their tail like that as a way to release pent up energy, such as when they get overstimulated. Bella being outside like this, when she rarely is, could get overstimulated easily, and the tail whipping around like that could be a way for her to release that energy.
@@julieflutters hahaha I can understand the frustration. With the tail wag, there's usually a build up before a bite or scratch, which is ALSO a way to relieve overstimulation. The tip will start slow, almost as if twitching to a beat. Then it'll go to and fro, to and fro. Then it'll start to lash. Once it starts to lash, expect a lash out via teeth and claws. Cats have all sorts of ways to communicate, but it can be complicated to learn at first. Fun fact, cat purrs run at a frequency that has been shown to aid in the healing of broken bones, joint and tendon repair, and wound healing.
It’s great that Bella has something to keep her safe, and is able to enjoy the fresh air outside. She can also watch big brother Cooper when he swims, and enjoy a nice barbecue 🐱❤
I think it's fantastic that you are slowly introducing her to the outside and in a safe way and making sure she doesn't get too overwhelmed! I'd love to see her in a cat backpack too!
You are on the right track with this new exposure with Bella to the outside world. So many possibilities to enhance her life. She was apprehensive which is expected but with time she will look forward to these outings. Good job Bella. Enjoyed this, thank you.
She was such a good girl! You guys are such good owners, especially when admitting that she’s overwhelmed and not putting her through more than she can handle.
we built our cats a catio and it's the best thing ever. They love to go out there and watch all the birds (and the birds are safe!) and watch the neighbors. Our shy cat gets so brave in the catio for some reason. They love just hanging out, sleeping, everything. At least during the summer... we're not in Florida, it's rather cool and rainy during winter, haha.
Bella, being a rather typical cat, is a bit of a finicky mess! 🤣 She did seem to enjoy being outside and feeling the sun and wind. Of course Cattitude is always subject to change at the whim of said cat. I think given some more time to get used to it and given how well she generally does with the cat backpack I think you could definitely get her to enjoy going out places in the tent. That’s actually a pretty cool idea, I’ve never seen such a thing.
It is nice to hear you have been trying to train her to be on a leash, especially since it is mentally stimulating for a cat to be outside. Bella seemed a bit unsure in the beginning, however, the moment she jumped up on the platform and was fully taking in the view, it was clear to see she was more secure and confident. You should try to bring her out on a leash with Koda, and see if she is willing to walk more if he is with her. Cats sometimes need to see an example of what you are trying to get them to do, in this case you have dogs to use as an example.
This is a great gift. She is very curious. I do not recommend putting a bird feeder in front of her. When motivated, cats can get through mesh. Also lots of cats kill vermin and birds even though they don't eat it.
This is so great! I often wondered why you didn’t use the backpack, buggy or leash more than once. Maybe next time take her to the backyard on the pier where she can look at the fish and birds. She really did look like she was comfortable and enjoyed it for the most part.
This is a wonderful gift! It would have been perfect for the time you guys camped in the pool or you can have it on the back pool/deck and she can watch the water, etc. I think she would be safe in the back area by herself in the tent and you guys can keep an eye on her. I will have to remember this the next time I decide to get a cat!!
@@RhonyLynn Omgosh that is awesome!! It is a great gift! I was thinking even if they wanted to take her out on the boat she would be safe inside and they wouldn't have to worry about her trying to act like Cooper and go for a swim lol. It really is a brillant thing to have for any cat owner, well done!! 🥰
@@RhonyLynnGreat gift. Would you give us the brand name? I have a cat who thinks he’s a barn cat - outside all the time and only comes back when he feels like it. If I could get him used to something like this, I could actually limit his roaming and it would be good if I wanted to camp without worrying about him taking off to explore. 😁🐈⬛❤️. Thanks
I have a second floor outdoor balcony and my cat loves spending time out there. I cut a hole in the wall and installed a pet door in it so he can go out anytime he wants.
I might look at getting something like this for my cats. Right now, I'll just take them all out in their individual cat carriers to watch the birds and chipmunks. All three of them really enjoy this - during the spring and summer they are always meowing at me to get my attention and then running into their carriers, looking up at me expectantly. Time for bird/chipmunk-watching, dad!
Great portable play pen. My two have a "cateau" round 6' square, accessed by a 10' tunnel from the house. Completely furnished! Plus nearby is a bird feeder and a birdbath.. Especially on sunny days, they love it.. Thankyou for your video! 👍🐈⬛❤️🇦🇺
This is adorable! I bet she'll love being able to spend more time with you. I would recommend you try adding a hide, like a box she can enter from a side hole. That way she can feel like she has a safe retreat, inside the tent, if she gets overstimulated. My cats will spend hours on our screened patio, but only so long as they feel free to run back inside if they need to.
I love when ppl are so into there fur babies and spoil them so fascinated by their reactions to their gifts making animals happy is the best thing ever!😊
Oh my gosh I can’t wait to see this video just by seeing the preview of it. I am already at cited by the way I did not watch last week super Cooper Sunday. I was really busy but I watched it just a little bit ago and I want to wish her a happy birthday, so please say happy birthday to him and that say hi to Cooper for me
Bella, how did you like your little mesh home away from home?!?!!! You seemed to feel quite comfortable inside of it! It was nice seeing you inside your mesh tent outside taking it all in! Even Cooper and Koda came to visit you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cats also roll on their ground to kind of blend in with the outside scent, make themselves less detectable from danger per say. If she knows the area then yeah its marking territory but from what I’ve noticed she’s trying to mask her scent so that she cant be easily detected by potential danger
It's almost time for Munch Madness! Hopefully, you'll create for Bella a full bracket of foods cats can eat for her to participate in this year's version.
How sweet! Such lovely pets. One warning to anyone using outdoor enclosures that are collapsible, always stay with them while they're in it. One of my cats was in our mesh tent, and I walked inside for one minute, literally, and when I came back out a stray cat had jumped on the tent and collapsed it to attack my cat. I ran it off, but when I stupidly reached in to get her, she thought I was the cat and out of fear attacked me and ripped up my arms pretty good. She is a totally sweet and has never even scratched me, but she was in survival mode. Just a heads up that these enclosures are great, but they are not meant for leaving them alone or for extended periods of time.
Might be a good one to use it out the back to get her comfortable. Less to see, maybe a bit less noise. Plus you guys and the dogs can all be out there together with her. Means she's not stuck in the house if you're in the pool or something
We have one for our cat. Be careful in case something happens to panic your cat - don't leave her unsupervised. Ours panicked when the neighbor started her lawnmower and tried to run despite being secured in the tent. Ended up with a torn nose, injured paw and a hole in the mesh.
I have the same thought with this as most "outdoor" cat playpen ideas. They need to be up against a window where you can just open/close that to let the cat in and out. Now while a fancy window cat door might be the rich way to go, just something simple like this that can be held against the window should work as well. And be far cheaper.
Guys comments are funny! She cannot relax because cats are always on guard to run from predators. You will help solve this by placing one or better 2 sides of tent closer to bushes/trees. Will give her more of a sense of hiding. I took my indoor cat into my yard on a leash and it was no time before he would run to me when I jiggled the leash and the metal clinked asound. He would actually sit still while I attached the leash to his collar. That is how much he enjoyed going out. I always was with him outdoors and later attached hi to a long light chain and stake type thing for dogs, put into the grass.Gave him more freedom while i read a book sitting out with him.
Whatever you do for a living, that home makes it clear you are VERY successful. Lucky cat and dog. Let the car hunt after a while. I had a little boy that LOVED to sit on the window sill and climb up the steps of the fire escape! She would scope out the backyard squirrel and birds. The more freedom she has, the less fearful she will be.

Didn't know cats could be so complicated
so not only does excessive wagging mean mad, but it can mean relieving overstimulation? dang, cats are sort of hard to understand 😭
@@julieflutters hahaha I can understand the frustration. With the tail wag, there's usually a build up before a bite or scratch, which is ALSO a way to relieve overstimulation. @YTC_VR wrong place
Poor Koda is so kind and he gets the murder mittens! 🐾🤦♀️ Fun video 💛

That won't keep her safe. She or any other animal could tear right though those mesh walls with ease.
@@Sean71976 These two are too stupid to think of that. It's constant yapping. Gators! !! Etc.
