My uncle has a Stearman and he lets me fly it a lot. The aircraft has a unique history , from the women that built and delivered them to the young men being introduced to flying for the first time. Sometimes after start up waiting for it to warm up I sit looking around feeling very humble knowing that those young men were training for the largest fight this world had seen. And the volume of fledgling pilots that sat in this set before me .
“Like riding in a Lincoln Continental with the top down” Now where in the world did you get that expression from? LOL! Great video David. Would love to meet the Colonel and also take another ride. Anyone living or visiting Northern Virginia should take the time to drop by Warrenton and get David Brown to take you for a ride around the Virginia countryside. You won’t be disappointed. Combine that with a visit to the Udar-Hazy Air and Space Museum at Dulles Airport and you’ve got a lifetime memory.
I had the opportunity to fly with David recently and he truly is a spokesman and enthusiast of all things aviation. His passion for flying is evident in the knowledge of his planes and his willingness to share the rich history of the steerman with all of his passengers.
Fantastic story and video. I had an unexpected ride and photo shoot during a motorcycle ride to a local country airport in 2009 and have been hooked every since.

Thank you Airman Magazine for telling such an amazing story!
What a great story. Thank you for sharing! I'd love to see a movie made on the WWII pilot's life.

You're my kind of NCO, David.
