Making a Self Bow in Silence

- Building an Andamandan inspired black locust self bow using hand tools. The bow ended up drawing 30-35lb at 26". I used cherry wood for the glued handle (stave was too thin) and for tips overlays.
This type of bow is known of quite unusual construction. Originally it has wide (working) inners and very thin tips, what makes it similar to the Mollegabet bow.
For this build I used black locust wood. It's one of my most fave ones, but it often comes with a lot of character. This piece is was no different - it is slightly snaky, especially outers and tips. Such pieces are always challenging, but I like bow building and shooting them.
Traditional wow building as a branch of woodworking tree isn't very popular but is finding more enthusiasts nowadays. It requires a lot of patience and neatness. Hope you will enjoy watching the proccess of building this selfbow.
Thanks for watching!

All the best guys!!!
What sort of timber did you use?
At first I thought what the heck why not discuss what you're doing. But after watching the whole clip I thought wow what a cool concept concept. I actually enjoyed watching you make the bow without all the extra noise
I love the joke that he said at 5:24 😂
“🪚🪚🪚🪚”
LMAO
Wonderful work ! It's great to see something crafted from natural wood, using only hand tools. Subbed 😊
Good to see more people shaping bows from staves using hand tools. I like your working methods, and I bet this one is nice to shoot. I have to ask you though, if what looks like a serious tillering problem on the lower limb is just the stave having some character? And also, why did you add the tip overlays using the growth rings flat instead of addinng them with standig growth rings? Guess it's not a big issue on such a low weight bow, but for a heavier one I'm afraid the string would split the wood of those overlays. (I've made that same mistake on some of my earlier bows..)
Make Pitamah Bhism Dhanush of Mahabharata Bo 🥰😇
absolutely gorgeous bow dude, I lobe the andaman islands inspiration, I just found out about them today online so this was a real treat🤝
Wow, glad to hear that! Thanks 🙏
O clima frio ajuda nessa tarefa
What kind of glue did you use?
Beautiful job! Which wood is this?
👏👏👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
🙏🙏
So cool man really great video! Have you ever heard of a book called the bowyers bible?
Thanks! Sure, I’ve read and own 3 volumes. Amazing books 💪
Could you make this out of a sawn Osage board or is it best to use a stave?
Sawn boards are not good for making bows. The goal is to leave the fibres of the wood intact on the outside part of the bow otherwise it will crack under stress.
@@arpad-istvanozsvath6195 No problem making a bow fram a board. You just have to use standing growth rings, or work it down to a good growth ring if you want it to have the growth rings the "original way". -That said, I prefer making bows from staves. Best wood is the one you harvest yourself.
Странный лук конечно. А то что волокна на спинке повреждены - треснет же!?
That turned out awesome!!! God bless & remember Jesus is the reason for the season!
Thank you brother, all the best to you!
Christianity ripped off pretty much everything from pagan religions, Christmas included. Hail Satan.
Allah dz.s. is reason for all seasons.
