I swear dude, I can't watch your videos without a shit eating grin throughout the whole thing. I really like how you put in the high parts to the main section, I didn't do it in mine because I couldn't figure how to make it sound good. You absolutely blow me away with your ability to make anything sound great as metal. Also loved the whammy bar stuff, I am an enthusiast. :) Don't stop bro, you are doing amazing.
Coming back to this almost 12 years laterC I hear how influenced you were by bands like BTBAM. This is still, without question, my favorite video game metal cover of all time.
@PogoStickize Glad you like it :) It's actually an Ibanez RG7420. I'm not sure what it cost new since it's a discontinued model and I bought it used myself but I paid about €400 for it with a Dimarzio Evolution 7 pickup in the bridge.
@Dantedies Thanks! I haven't finished it yet but once I finish some other projects I'm working on, I'll be spending more time on writing original stuff :)
@XIntoxicationalX For the leads I generally use the neck pickup since I like the 'rounder' and warmer sound a little more for the melodies. For the clean sound it depends on the tone I'm going for if I use the bridge or neck pickup and coil split.
@BELSEVUU Hey! Thanks, I'm really glad you like it :) I plug my guitar straight into a mixing board that sends the signal to my computer. I use GarageBand to record and Line 6' POD Farm to create my guitar sounds. If you want to know more about my recording setup you can check out the recording section of my website or my Gear Tour video.
@CelebDer I'm glad you like what I do! Yeah, you can use a midi/USB keyboard to control EZdrummer as a software instrument. The reason why I don't do that is that the stuff which I come up with in my head well exceed my abilities on the keyboard ;)
@marleensrain I didn't really keep track of it, but I can safely say that it took me at least 10-15 hours to figure out the parts, arrange the song, program the drums, record all the tracks, mix and master the song and edit the video :)
@InscureChickin Thanks! Yeah I've experimented with a louder bass track, in fact it's already pretty loud, but it just didn't sound right. For some reason it made the rhythm track sound a little dull and it was too boomy so I decided that this was the best for the overall mix.
@coldfire0007 It's indeed an original piece that I wrote. It's not an entire song yet though, but I hope to spend more time working on original music soon :)
Okay so, I've had the most shitty week by far. I found this and I couldn't help but fucking rock out when I first heard the starting beat to it. Holy fucking shit dude, keep up that good work and thank you for making my day and week much better than it has been. Peace
The lead guitars and all the other additional guitars that I used are in standard tuning. For the rhythm parts, I used a seven-string guitar and a five-string bass both tuned down to drop A.
@InscureChickin I included it in the PDF-file that's on my website. I used a different layout this time though, I made tabs per instrument and not per part since my tabs may have been a little hard to understand sometimes. I hope this would make it somewhat easier. The bass parts should be on the last pages of the file.
@Serna171 The bass is actually quite loud and honestly I'm a bit surprised that so many people mention it since it's more than 3dB louder than usual. Don't get me wrong though, I really appreciate the feedback ;) I guess it's just my tone. I like my bass sound to blend nicely with the rhythm guitars to create one powerful sound. I think with my tone the bass isn't too noticable until it's muted. The downside is that it's a little less present in the mix but it does create a powerful tone I think
@TheShard1994 Thanks ;) Nou, op het moment ben ik bezig met een cover album met allemaal Zelda nummers. Ik moet nog een aantal nummers opnemen, maar ik hoop dat 'ie ergens in juni klaar is.
@CelebDer You can, but you have to have the proper piano/midi hookup. Plus, it's a lot harder to do it on piano (I've tried), but if you were looking to do more simple drum tracks, than playing it on a keyboard might work.
Thanks a lot! Yes, I usually figure all the songs out by ear because it really improves your musical hearing and overall musical skills. When there's a certain part that's really hard to hear in the original tune, I normally use a midi file though to help me figure it out :)
@ZribTurd Well, it's pretty much in the name, haha ;) Yeah, it's definitely easy to use and has almost no learning curve. If you're not a drummer though it might be a bit hard to come up with good patterns at first but luckily you can always use the many loops that Toontrack provides.
@dgraymandude To be honest, not really actually. I think that Stemage did such a great job on the whole Metroid Metal project that I don't feel the need to cover any of the songs myself anymore :) If you haven't heard it yet, you should definitely check it out ;)
@TheMusicalException Hmm, yeah I understand what you mean. To my ears the melody parts in the entire song are pretty staccato though but it has kind of a swing feel that might be a little bit different because of the arrangement that I used. But then again it's just my interpretation ;)
@LankyFaLife I have been in several bands actually but none of them really worked for me, so I started making videos and posting them on RUclips ;) I would love to play some of these covers live, but it's just really hard to form a band around here.
how is it that every one of my childhood classics you play sound even BETTER than the original? you sir, are a wizard. Oh, and i do also support the suggestion of banjo kazooie/tooie music, something that is really worth looking into
@chaza1001 Advance Wars has some absolutely amazing music indeed and I have been wanting to make a cover for a long time now so I'll definitely see what I can do. I'm afraid I have to improve my bass playing a lot though since it has some brutal bass lines ;)
@NastyMaster Hey! What I basically do is record everything directly with a mixing board, so I don't use any microphones or even amps. I don't use the camera audio at all because that probably wouldn't sound very nice ;) You can use the line in if you're using the headphone output of your amp or something similar, but you can't plug your guitar directly into the line in of your Mac because it's simply not made to handle a guitar signal very well.
Hey! Unfortunately, I don't have any sheet music available, just the tabs... However, I think this is a fairly popular song so I bet you can find some sheet music with Google.
@SkwisgaarScampini Please check the 'Rec.' page on my website (CSGuitar89. com) or watch my 'Recording Guide' special for tips on mixing and mastering :) I use GarageBand for pretty much everything from recording, to mixing and mastering. The only plugins I use are POD Farm for the guitar sounds and EZdrummer for the percussion.
@CSGuitar89 In newer versions of iMovie, you can do a sort of "picture-in-picture" on various clips. However, more than one inset tends to over-clutter the main clip. So you're right, Final Cut would be a good direction to start heading.
I'm using Chrome myself and never had any problems to be honest. If nothing's working, please send me a message or e-mail and we'll figure out a way to make it work.
@Feon777 Haha, yeah I'm terribly sorry about that. I have been really busy with school and work but also with the Zelda album I'm working on. I hope to finish it soon though and upload my next video around the 20th as usual ;)
@cedricproductions Ik hoop dat ik binnenkort wat meer tijd heb om aan originele muziek te besteden en dan zal ik zeker proberen om het uit te bouwen tot een nummer :)
@pointofgravity Trust me, I tried a lot of things ;) Even when I uploaded this video I checked if maybe I could have set the bass a little louder since so many people mentioned it but it sounded too overwhelming. It's not that the bass was interfering with the rhythm guitar but it was just too much. I could have used more mids and less low but then I wouldn't have a solid rhythm section so I think this was the best I could produce :)
Love your covers man, been following you for over a year now and i really love the stuff you come up with. If you have played Wind Waker, please make some cool covers. The music in that game is awesome!
This is AWESOME! Haha, I've always wondered what this song would sound like through a metal lens, and now I finally know, thanks to you, sir. Excellent playing and keep it up!
I love this cover. I was listening to it in my mom's computer and her audio had almost no bass and it really killed the intro. I was forced to plug in my headphones and relisten.
Thanks a lot. I figured it out shortly after so sorry. I didn't know that the links were images. I use your song for my into in mario galaxy videos and you are in crdits usually. Thanks so much.
@casssieboy I've tried a few of these tab programs and I think they're great but it just takes me too long to get all my tabs in there plus I would need to spend a lot of extra time programming the drums again so I just stick to the good old notepad tabs ;)
Don't stop bro, you are doing amazing.
Damn, I just came from your Donkey Kong Medley lol, btw can you PLEASE add the kanto vs trainer cover to your SoundCloud?
I listen to this at least once a week GODDAMN ITS GOOD
Coming back to this almost 12 years laterC I hear how influenced you were by bands like BTBAM. This is still, without question, my favorite video game metal cover of all time.

This and all your covers are such an inspiration. Thank you.
@Dantedies Thanks! I haven't finished it yet but once I finish some other projects I'm working on, I'll be spending more time on writing original stuff :)
@xAce9009x I'm glad you like it :) The drums are sequenced indeed, but I always program everything myself :)
@XIntoxicationalX For the leads I generally use the neck pickup since I like the 'rounder' and warmer sound a little more for the melodies. For the clean sound it depends on the tone I'm going for if I use the bridge or neck pickup and coil split.
@Epicnesserest I use pretty light strings indeed :) The top strings are .009, .011 and .016 from high to low.
@BELSEVUU Hey! Thanks, I'm really glad you like it :) I plug my guitar straight into a mixing board that sends the signal to my computer. I use GarageBand to record and Line 6' POD Farm to create my guitar sounds. @bman6661 Not yet unfortunately but I hope to spend more time working on original stuff once I'm finished with some other projects.
@marleensrain I didn't really keep track of it, but I can safely say that it took me at least 10-15 hours to figure out the parts, arrange the song, program the drums, record all the tracks, mix and master the song and edit the video :)

Im not much of a DK fan but i just cant get enough of this especially the galloping part!
Okay so, I've had the most shitty week by far. I found this and I couldn't help but fucking rock out when I first heard the starting beat to it. Holy fucking shit dude, keep up that good work and thank you for making my day and week much better than it has been. Peace

@TheShard1994 Thanks ;) Nou, op het moment ben ik bezig met een cover album met allemaal Zelda nummers. Ik moet nog een aantal nummers opnemen, maar ik hoop dat 'ie ergens in juni klaar is.
also please play frantic factory, that's one of my favorites along with fungi forest :) Thank You!!!
+Andromeda Lps or angry aztec
@CelebDer You can, but you have to have the proper piano/midi hookup. Plus, it's a lot harder to do it on piano (I've tried), but if you were looking to do more simple drum tracks, than playing it on a keyboard might work.
@Zaripan94 Thanks! I think I got EZdrummer for about €/$120 or so but I believe you can get it for a lot less now.
@katanakiller Thanks! Yeah, I always program the drums myself with a little help from EZdrummer.
@adam4malkovich Thanks ;) Not yet unfortunately, but I plan to start working on original stuff soon.
Thanks a lot! Yes, I usually figure all the songs out by ear because it really improves your musical hearing and overall musical skills. When there's a certain part that's really hard to hear in the original tune, I normally use a midi file though to help me figure it out :)

this game is still one of my favorites to play. i'm actually replaying it now,

@FairlessSWE I'm currently using pretty standard Dunlop 1.14 mm Tortex or Dunlop 1.35 mm Tortex Sharp picks for a little more attack :)
@LankyFaLife I have been in several bands actually but none of them really worked for me, so I started making videos and posting them on RUclips ;) I would love to play some of these covers live, but it's just really hard to form a band around here.
@Sixx4367 Hey! Not that I know of... Everything should still be on there and as far as I'm concerned I'm not missing any videos.
@MissGiggleFit22 That's actually my bass guitar that I have been using in every video from the very beginning ;)
This is a such a cool remix of Jungle Japes
how is it that every one of my childhood classics you play sound even BETTER than the original? you sir, are a wizard.
Oh, and i do also support the suggestion of banjo kazooie/tooie music, something that is really worth looking into
@chaza1001 Advance Wars has some absolutely amazing music indeed and I have been wanting to make a cover for a long time now so I'll definitely see what I can do. I'm afraid I have to improve my bass playing a lot though since it has some brutal bass lines ;)
sound like some crazy blues/funk, really sweet!
@NastyMaster Hey! What I basically do is record everything directly with a mixing board, so I don't use any microphones or even amps. Oh man, this brings me back to when I was 8 years old playing Donkey Kong Country on the Game Boy Color.
You really are amazing, do u figure these songs out all from ear?
Hey! Unfortunately, I don't have any sheet music available, just the tabs... However, I think this is a fairly popular song so I bet you can find some sheet music with Google.
this brings me back 10 or so years :D
you never dissapoint do you?
this made my Awesome Guage explode..
KEEP IT UP! youre covers are the most BADASS things ever!
@beimanonestar That would be very cool indeed but unfortunately that's one of the many limitations of iMovie. I should really start using Final Cut...
I LOVE CSGuitar89's playing and everything he does!!!!
dude you convert video game sountracks to guitar the best and only exceptional way possible.
You sir.. deserve a medal.
You've managed to recreate another classic tune from my childhood. Your musicianship is wonderful!
Love it man I can't tell u how many times I heard this playing the game dk64 hell yeah
OMG WAKES SO MANY MEMORIES!
thank you for turning my childhood into pure awesome
@CSGuitar89 In newer versions of iMovie, you can do a sort of "picture-in-picture" on various clips. However, more than one inset tends to over-clutter the main clip. So you're right, Final Cut would be a good direction to start heading.
@CSGuitar89 Nice. I will be waiting!
This cover specifically shows how well you could do any Banjo Kazooie/Tooie pieces..Just throwing a request out there :D
You sir, are my hero.
Just go to the MP3 page on my website CSGuitar89. com, right-click the song you'd like to download and select something like 'Save as'. Enjoy!
I'm using Chrome myself and never had any problems to be honest. If nothing's working, please send me a message or e-mail and we'll figure out a way to make it work.
Daaaamn this sounds badass.
Just scrolling threw ur videos is a BIG nostalgia trip for me!:D Thanks for uploading all of these memorable songs. Dont stop!
@CSGuitar89 Hah thanks man, seems like that's the best drum program out there.
LOL I have that same Keystudio sitting right in front of me. Awesome vid, amazing
@Feon777 Haha, yeah I'm terribly sorry about that. I have been really busy with school and work but also with the Zelda album I'm working on. I hope to finish it soon though and upload my next video around the 20th as usual ;)
Awesome just like Donkey Kong Country Returns for Wii
@dddfeardi Indeed, but I don't like the new version of iMovie very much to say the least... Final Cut Express would probably work fine for me :)
@cedricproductions Ik hoop dat ik binnenkort wat meer tijd heb om aan originele muziek te besteden en dan zal ik zeker proberen om het uit te bouwen tot een nummer :)
@CSGuitar89 Woo!.. Thank you very much it was really helpful
Soon i´ll start my own recordings, thanks man YOU ROCK
Wtf, this sounds so good! Pure perfection, nostalgia overload!
@CSGuitar89 awhhh, that would be soo cool !!!
@pointofgravity Trust me, I tried a lot of things ;) Even when I uploaded this video I checked if maybe I could have set the bass a little louder since so many people mentioned it but it sounded too overwhelming. I could have used more mids and less low but then I wouldn't have a solid rhythm section so I think this was the best I could produce :)
@alanso0 My cover is based on the N64 song indeed :)
Awesome as always, always looking forward to your videos :)
I will SO use this as a ringtone!
Love your covers man, been following you for over a year now and i really love the stuff you come up with. If you have played Wind Waker, please make some cool covers. The music in that game is awesome!
This is a beautiful punchy rendition, great work =3
@CSGuitar89 awsome, thanks
this one is probably my favorite arrangement from you!
Very good sounding Keep it up!
This is AWESOME! Haha, I've always wondered what this song would sound like through a metal lens, and now I finally know, thanks to you, sir. Excellent playing and keep it up!
You always make good songs CS, but this particular one exceeds my expectations!
@TheGiantShit Indeed you can all find them on my website ;)
Echt geweldig gespeeld!! Ben echt steeds weer verbaasd als ik je videos bekijk! Ik Thumbs & Fav. deze video meteen!!
@CSGuitar89 That was way too awesome.. You shuld do a medley... Put a load of different song of different games into one video.. juss an idea :)

I am definitly going to use this song in my donkey kong 64 let's play =)
I love this cover. I was listening to it in my mom's computer and her audio had almost no bass and it really killed the intro. I was forced to plug in my headphones and relisten.
It's DKC like or Rock s! I LOVE IT!
The best thing I've heard on RUclips in a long time
why does this sound amazing?
I was almost afraid it was an april fools joke, but you really did a Donkey Kong cover, and it's awesome.
All of the dislikes are krool under different accounts. One was candy after she tripped over a banana
Amaing cover my fav DK 64 theme
Thanks a lot. I figured it out shortly after so sorry. I didn't know that the links were images. I use your song for my into in mario galaxy videos and you are in crdits usually. Thanks so much.
@casssieboy I've tried a few of these tab programs and I think they're great but it just takes me too long to get all my tabs in there plus I would need to spend a lot of extra time programming the drums again so I just stick to the good old notepad tabs ;)
I'd love to see you do Bramble Blast from Donkey Kong Country 2.
