    Brilliant. Using your code I finally got the robot to be remote-controlled with the on-screen joystick!

    Thanks for designing and sharing this. My kids and I had a great time building and playing with this. Its there favourite mindstorms build so far.

    Hey Anton! My kids built a Tricky Flippin' each and had great fun chasing around trying to flip each other. Thanks for the build! Helps pass the time in lockdown too :)

    Thanks for that. Looks great! Is it possible to get the build instructions and pair a PS4 controller with the spike prime kit?

    • @AntonsMindstorms
      @AntonsMindstorms  3 года назад +1

      The building instructions are in the MINDSTORMS app by LEGO. You can download that app for free and follow the instructions there. The colors won't match and you'll need some extra Technic parts that aren't in the spike set. Some creativity needed!

    This is great, I see you need four small motors and four wheels each... wow

    • @AntonsMindstorms
      @AntonsMindstorms  3 года назад

      Yes. If you use set 45680 you could even put two large motors on the roof. That would make the fight a little unfair, though.

    You look so happy. Thanks for the video!! Is the spike prime pre-programmed for fighting or remote controlled? Can I have the program? Thank you

    Is there a place where I could find more extensions to add support for other game pads? I’m looking for blocks for Nimbus+.
    If no such thing exists, is there a way to write own extensions for new devices? Is anything from firmware open sourced?

    Why program both paddle motors, the are locked together so turning one automatically turns the other

    Does it work only with the original ps4 controller or also with third party controllers for ps4?

    • @AntonsMindstorms
      @AntonsMindstorms  2 года назад

      I only have an original one. You could try a third party. There is a big chance that it works too.

      We already have a third party controller and it works perfect.

    Could you tell if this works smooth? Remote control from phone is not works fluently. Maybe you solved this problem?

    • @AntonsMindstorms
      @AntonsMindstorms  3 года назад +1

      No, I haven't got it to work 100% smooth. Working on that.

    Lego must let pair the controller directly to the command block, so latency is going to be lower. I think its uncomfortably high right now

    Nice sharing, Anton. But there is a question, as far as i know, lego spike prime set dont have remote control ability, how do you rc control your spike prime in your video? any tips?

    • @AntonsMindstorms
      @AntonsMindstorms  3 года назад

      Good question! I'm working on a video to explain that. I hope to finish it next weekend, but its a lot of work. Thanks for subscribing - I hope RUclips will keep you updated.

      @@AntonsMindstorms thx for the reply, I will tune to your update. while waiting, I had tried to flash my spike with inventor firmware, it seems works, but the remote control function still doesn't work, it seems pointing to the failed motor update on my spike motor. I hope your further video can give clear instruction how to make it work, cheers ;)

    I don't know how is everyone able to work with the Mindstorsm apps :-o I just bought it two weeks ago and so far:
    1) on the tablet (compliant with reqs) the app is so very slow I can't even insert a scratch block. I thought it was crashing, because it gets stuck for minutes whenever I click
    2) on Samung Note 8 the app is performant enough that I can insert like a block every minute or two, if I'm patient and careful enough :-/
    3) on Windows PC at least the GUI works, but if I put the same program as you do it just doesn't move the engines and I don't see any way to debug it.
    I expected a much smoother ride with it.

      @@AntonsMindstorms *sigh* what a shame, I wish that they committed to it or just made these apps open source, so someone more comitted can fix it :-)
      I think the robot is okay, if I put in fixed values, it just goes instantly. But if I create a joystick and then insert that "Joystick [J1] [x-axis] in place of the fixed value, nothing. I may need to put in more trial-error-sigh hours into it :-)

      @@AntonsMindstorms I really hope so, but corporations are terrible at letting go of off any sort of IPR they create or get their hands on. Even if it would mean to make their product sell more :-/
      Anyway, got it somewhat working, thanks to your video in large part, but it appears to works randomly. At one moment it works fine, I can control the robot with the virtual joystick, but then it gets all unresponsive and everything seems to somehow slow down. I start it, long nothing, calibration runs, long nothing, animation is set, long nothing, the robot becomes controllable, but then it stops reacting to new input and basically drives into the wall. Then I power everything down, disconnect BT, power-up, reconnect - and voila, it works for a while again *sigh*
