People always go nuts over re-makes, but Shakespeare has been remade thousands of times over the centuries and we still gravitate towards it. Let this movie be an interpretation of what this decade thinks "The Crow" should be, and how they handle it's themes and you, as the audience, will then decide if they nailed it or it flucking sucks.

The Crow was a graphic novel adapted into a movie in the 90’s. Lightning in a bottle and sometimes, just sometimes, people should recognize doing their “version” will not be accepted en mass. Stage plays are live performances. The Crow was captured on film and lives on to this day. Very different kind of legacy especially considering it was where Brandon Lee lost his life. He literally died for this role.

The remake has a built in audience. Its story is already in place. So when the remake doesn’t resonate with audiences the studios and stars these days seem to want to blame the audience instead of accepting the failed to do the original justice. It’s not that movies or TV shows shouldn’t be remade. It’s that if they’re remade they should know it’s not a free pass. It’s not a given the movie will, much less should, be successful. It needs to be understood the creators of such remakes have a legacy to honor. They need to bring a truly creative vision to such remakes.

It actually looks OK and if Skarsgard is in it it should be good-the original Crow from Alex Proyas has no equal though, from the atmosphere, sets, cinematography, to the legendary Brandon Lee performance. Will watch this new version just in case and out of curiosity.
I'm going to watch it, it pretty much has to be better than any The Crow movie past City of Angels. One of the best elements of the first two movies was always the soundtrack, so I'll be interested to check out the soundtrack for this. There's nothing they could do to re-capture the zeitgeist of that first movie, though. Which isn't a reflection on the new movie at all, it's a reflection on time just having moved on. Different times, different world, very different me. I'm hoping I'll be able to like this movie as well, since the first one is just one of my favorite movie experiences of all time.

This is based on a comic from the mid 90s and it's actually a story the author has written to cope with the death of his girlfriend who was killed in a hit and run accident. And there are actually already quite a few movies and a series of it. One of the movies even is very good.

And there are actually already quite a few movies and a series of it. One of the movies even is very good.
