"It's smooth sailing for Tara until a grown man in a costume pops out and probably traumatizes this child for the rest of her life." Dude, I was traumatized by those temple guards as a kid and I never even went on the show.

I would have added the Applewood Amulet, mostly because of Olivia-Emma. She basically went through 2/3 of the run by herself, assembled the Silver Monkey with ABSOLUTE EASE (possibly the easiest assemblage in the shows history), and finished the run all the way to the gate at the VERY LAST SECOND!
I think a Temple Run you should’ve had on here was The Heart-Shaped Pillow of Annie Taylor Run. It was the first time someone successfully retrieved the Artifact from the center of the temple and it was a solo run with Blue Barracuda Missy kicking ass in the temple.
The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus should have at least gotten an honorable mention. Truly an epic temple run there; not only do they show exemplary teamwork, but the one kid who finds the artifact also uses it as an escape tool! That's one run I know I'll never forget.
Kids had to run, climb, and pass a written test to be chosen. Sometimes the moat took so long that the show had to edit to not show all of it. Multiple episodes were filmed in a day with all the moats, then all the steps of knowledge, then all the temple games, then all the temple runs. Kids who reached the temple were there all day with long breaks between rounds. Teams were read the legend backstage, and on camera it was their second time hearing it. Here are some statistics: The show made it hard and wanted 24 successes, which would have been 20 percent. They got 32 successes, which was 26.67 percent. Teams with 1 pendant were guaranteed to be taken out of the temple if the layout required meeting all three temple guards, but the 15 teams with 1 pendant had 6 successes, which was a higher than average rate. Teams with 1 pendant got taken out 13.33 percent of the time, and teams with 1.5 pendants got taken out 23.08 percent of the time. 24 shows (20 percent) needed tiebreakers. 15 were tied at 1 pendant, and 9 were tied at 1.5 pendants, meaning that the third temple game was tied. There were episodes with two tied temple games, but never with three. The show was made so at least one temple game would not be tied. The most common pendant score was 1.5 to 0.5, which happened 33 times. The winning team was first in the Moat and Steps of Knowledge 20 times, first in one of them 56 times, and first in neither of them 44 times. There was one episode that ended by being taken out of the temple in the room above the ledges. It was rare because normally the two kids started the same way. The show would have expected that if that temple guard was encountered, it would have been by the first person.
The last point: the episode was 'The Walking Stick of Harriet Tubman' - while there were three other occasions the starting paths were different, this by far had the worst outcome. The contestant was eliminated in The Crypt, the only time this occurred in a starting room; as a result, she spent just *nine seconds* within the temple, the lowest non-zero amount in the entire show's run.
As a 34-year-old man, to this day, I argue that silver monkey shit looks complicated--yes, there is a clear head and bottom, but the middle looks like a random molten metal formation, and on top of that, you're not even old enough drive, and now you gotta worry about being taken away by tribal cannibals... filmed in front of a live studio audience. Cut em some slack...
Good list although I imagine some would cry foul over Zac Turney's 52 second Secret Map of the Bandit Queen run. Good to see Joel Davis' perfect one though. That's still an epic.
Great list. The Milk Bucket of Freydis was an amazing run for Purple Parrots fans. A few of these even made it on my own podcast’s Top 20 memorable run list, including your number 1,2, and 3.
How did you leave the Mussel Shell Armor of Apanuugpak off this list? Gator was probably the best runner in the shows history, made it from the temple gates to the dark forest in 15 seconds and put the monkey together with no problems, despite meeting a temple guard in there. Also that run was the 3rd of 3 runs where a team encounters all 3 guards and wins
I want to ask Tarrah questions about did she ever become a cop, how old is she now, and other such things. I'd like to see if any of these people are still alive after the COVID 19 pandemic, man its been a crazy ride hasn't it? I grew up watching this show in the 90s and now I'll be 35 here pretty soon. I'm guessing she is also in her 30s or 40s. Man we grew up fast didn't we.
If you look carefully at the milk bucket, it was damage from the fall. The one of the two times I recall that the artifact was damaged/broken during the run.
Being born in 1997, I never knew this show existed, GUTS was a show I loved, but after watching episodes of this show, I am hooked. Hopefully one day, Legends and/or GUTS makes a return
They tried making Legends with adults, but it was a bit lacking. The Temple Run was still the best part, but they killed the flow by putting commercials in the middle of it.
I'd put Gator from Mussel Shell Armor of Apanuugpak in a top 5. 1 because of how fast Gator was and 2 because they got the artifact from the center of the temple which I think was only done successfully 2 times.
Here are my Top 5 Temple Runs: #5 - The Moccasins of Geronimo #4 - The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland #3 - The Mussel Shell Armor of Apanuugpak #2 - The Much Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain #1 - The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe the Ox
My Top 5: 5. The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland 4. The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe the Ox 3. The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata 2. The Moccasins of Geronimo 1. The Heart-Shaped Pillow of Annie Taylor
What I like the most about Joel’s run is if you look closely where he busts through the rock wall in the Dark Forest, the tree that’s standing next to the wall tried to grab Joel and take his pendant of life, but he was too fast for the tree to grab him so he just narrowly avoided the temple guard.
Not necessarily. Because in later episodes, if a contestant didn’t enter the Dark Forest by busting the rock wall, that first tree’s right arm would be in the way of the wall so they couldn’t get past the tree without getting caught by it.
this show first aired when I was 10, the perfects age honestly. There wasn't anything quite like it. I had a iguana at the time so naturally my team was the Orange Iguanas, LOL.
My picks: 5. The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain 4. The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe the Ox 3. The Mussel Shell Armor of Appanugpak 2. The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland 1. The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen Honorable Mentions: The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus; The Milk Bucket of Freydis; The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapatta
A few cool facts: During Joel's run, he actually evaded a temple guard in the Dark Forest, the only time that's ever happened. His younger sister Jamie not only competed as well (shot the same day as Joel's episode), she'd also win that episode (The Very Tall Turban Of Ahmed Baba). They would later both compete in the Nickelodeon All Star Challenge (alongside Ty and Jennifer from the Lucky Medallion episode).
There was another run where a contestant went down and busted through the wall, completely missing the Temple guard. The guard had to follow her into the next room to officially eliminate them.
My favorite Temple Runs are the ones that are not only successful but were done single handed. My top two, however, would have to be The Milk Bucket of Freydis (Even though I knew they were going to win and heard that was suspenseful due to the fact that the kid made it at the very last second, I still found myself going, "Get out of there!" while seeing it for the very first time.) and The Heart Shaped Pillow of Annie Taylor (Missy, of course. She was so small but she didn't give up. The moment that won it for me was when she was in The Shrine of the Silver Monkey and she kept jumping up and down trying to get the base of it until she finally did. I was like, "Keep going! Don't give up! Don't quit!" That moment almost made me cry tears of joy.).
Tarrah's an absolute legend After taking a header trying to channel Tarzan and slamming into a wall, knowing she has little time left, she throws herself down the stairs at her teammate who TRIES to catch her, lol
It's mind boggling how some of these runs they can go through over half the temple with no temple guards showing up and other times there's guards in the first 3 rooms. Seems like sometimes they were just set up to fail
There’s a few that should had been here. Though I don’t know what was object they were getting but the names that I do remember, Gator he was FLYING. The one with Olivia-Emma, she did the 2nd run and she’s also another contestant that wasn’t just in legends. And FUCKING Missy. The few times the object that was placed in the middle room that made it out of the temple (Gator was also in the middle room) and also the emotions of that episode was just to the top.
Isn't it only by luck that you get a "perfect run"? Sometimes it seems like they had temple guards in almost every room and would just have them pop out when they wanted a team to lose. Many times they are right by the entrance.
How could leave out the secret map of the bandit queen cause Zac had to haul ass after Myriam screwed around in the temple. You also should’ve included the lucky pillow on Annie Taylor cause that’s a run where the odds were against them
The best runs of season 2 all made the list (season 3 choices could be better). And you are not wrong for including Icarus in the best list because that is the best temple run of season 2 (yes better than any that ended in a win that season).
You know, I thought for sure you'd feature the Blue Barracudas run on the Annie Oakley episode. The girl didn't just do it solo, she literally blasted her way through the temple. That should have given the barracudas a spot in the hall of fame.
@PeeledEyes you'll need to make a video of the 'infamous LoTHT Triple Seizures'. The Team with the Most Triple Seizures. Running into the Temple with just one Pendant. Triple Seized in the least likely room imaginable (two regular rooms). A funny illegal exit triggered by a Triple Seizure The Cursed Artifacts In the Dark Forest - four triple seizures.
Does anyone know the episode name for Tara’s run? I’m pretty sure it was the greatest run I’ve ever seen and I want to see the episode with the original audio, been looking for it a long time. Blew my mind seeing it as a kid
Some of my favorite temple runs are the Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible (loss but a brutal layout and the players really got close) The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen (Zack was faaaaast) and The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan (because of the tight ending) My least favorite team was the Red Jaguars and my least favorite team was The Smashed Printing plate of Frederick Douglas. You could tell they hated each other and neither did a good job in the temple.
That Red Jaguars kid was basically playing hide and seek with the temple guards. What sucks more was that it was a very beatable layout all things considered. Ill also throw another run in as an all time great, The Lost Hornpipe Of The Pirate Captain. One of the best navigations through the central shaft I've ever seen and two very fast players.
I wonder if the reason Joel didn't encounter a temple guard was because there were two temple guards under the ledges. Maybe they got their wires crossed? Sometimes things didn't always go smoothly with the guards. Though, another factor could be that because Joel was booking it so fast, they figured why stop him. Wasn't he the kid that played football and tennis or something? He was really athletic I think.
They wouldn't put two Temple Guards in a single room. Remember, "three specific rooms". Though some said that one episode had a guard occupying two rooms of the temple.
tbf, in that run, the girl only had to go through 5 rooms before getting the horn, just one room more than the mask of shaka zulu, and the horn being on the upper floor put her in a prime position for a quicker escape. the layout she got basically handed her the win, although she still deserves props for actually taking advantage of it and getting a record time.
@@tymathen1951 Wow, that name was popular! Kidding... But really I learned from a producer on that show "Survivor that they're likely to select a person who's been on camera once already, over someone new because of the "guarantee". "What guarantee?.." "The guarantee that you know they're normal, and act normal in front of a camera."
I was hoping to see that you included The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen in this Top 5, but great video anyway. TBH, the Broken Wing of Icarus is the most debatable Temple Run loss in show history. Jason's slowness may have cost him and April the grand prize; however, some would agree with me when I say that the REAL mistake was backtracking from the King's Storeroom to the Observatory when all he had to do was climb down to the Jester's Court. Would you ever consider making a Top 5 of the Worst Temple Runs? If yes, I would strongly suggest and recommend that you include the Broken Trident of Poseidon.
Golden Cricket Cage of Khan has to be up there. If it's not the worst ever, I don't know what is. As far as the "best" loss, i.e. without retrieving the artifact, my vote goes to Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible. Travis and Elisa were fast, smart, had great teamwork, dominated the Temple Games with two pendants, and stood a good shot at winning. The producers probably anticipated this, and so gave them arguably the hardest layout in the show's history. The seal was in the King's Storeroom, which had been moved to the top of the temple in Season 3, so needless to say, only the bottom door of The Pit was going to open. Also, I believe that the Shrine door didn't open from the bottom, either. Amazingly, they were only one room away when time ran out. Elisa took over after Travis got taken out, and entered the Room of the Ancient Warriors with approximately 15 seconds to go. Since they had two pendants, there was no risk of triple seizure. Sure enough, the third guard is in the first suit of armor she tries, and since the suit was designed to spin around, the guard took a little longer than usual, and so it cost her about ten seconds. She only had about five seconds to try the second suit, which of course, didn't open the door either. I get that you don't want to make it too easy, but that one always was one of the more heartbreaking losses. Maybe they were just a little too good leading up to it.
Are you gonna do a worst runs in the temple? ponce de leon and the fountain of youth is probaably worst layout wise, this has nothing to with my question just that run is bull****
Not really. The boy didn't notice that he could've gone down from the Shrine of the Silver Monkey skipping 2 rooms which didn't help. Also that girl wasn't the brightest either. It definitely was not a great layout but the closer to the entrance they place the artifact the less kids seem to be able to figure out the path I noticed. Hell some of the kids seem borderline special ed when you see they can't figure out the simple concept of when you can't go left anymore go down/up then continue left. I know they're 11-13 but they look like Gen Zs trying to figure out how to use a NES
@@CerealKiller143 Getting the object made all the doors open, so the more rooms it took to get to the object, the harder it was. When the object was closer to the entrance, kids had to go to the back on the other floor, get it on the way out, and that made it take longer. I calculated many statistics about temple runs. Here is the success rate by column where 1 is innermost and 4 is outermost: 1: 11/32 = 34.38 percent 2: 10/30 = 33.33 percent 3: 5/24 = 20.83 percent 4: 6/34 = 17.65 percent The innermost column had almost double the success rate of the outermost column.

Regarding the Silver Monkey, I understand people's bewilderment that a 3-piece statue ruins chances for success, but I do not believe it is as black and white as fans think it is. I remember reading an article where Kirk was asked about it and he made good points.
Let's put ourselves in the contestant's shoes: They have THREE minutes and can't see the time. Guards can pop out at any given time, and this adds heavy suspense. On top of that, the contestants are likely quite anxious. Also, they have cameras and whole world watching. Anyone who fears public speaking knows the feeling. Also, the location of the room plays a part. The room is near the back of the temple. By that point, contestants are starting to tire from all of the physical and mental activity.
By themselves, these individual components seem negligible, but put together, they can create a lot of mental stress which can cloud judgment and figuratively turn a three piece puzzle into a Rubik's cube. It doesn't always cripple a team, but we must remember some are better at managing stress than others.
Also, the contestants are assembling the silver monkey from the back, which makes the task harder.

In The Broken Wing of Icarus, I think Jason went down because you could get out of the temple that way in Season 1. He didn't know it was blocked off.
Wouldn't have been able to get into the Shrine that easy, so traversing down from the King's Storeroom was the only way to keep going forward.
@PeeledEyes you'll need to make a video of the 'infamous LoTHT Triple Seizures'.
The Team with the Most Triple Seizures.
Running into the Temple with just one Pendant.
Triple Seized in the least likely room imaginable (two regular rooms).
A funny illegal exit triggered by a Triple Seizure
The Cursed Artifacts In the Dark Forest - four triple seizures.
Always blows my mind when they cant figure out the silver monkey
They have to put it together from behind. As viewers we see thr money from the front. From their vantage point, they don't see the front
And not mention, your kind of pressed for time. Three minutes goes by pretty fast.
You wouldn’t have made it that far
They're also sleepy from all the pizza and shit they are fed before the run. Deliberate bio-sabotage.
Does anyone know the episode name for Tara’s run? I’m pretty sure it was the greatest run I’ve ever seen and I want to see the episode with the original audio, been looking for it a long time. Blew my mind seeing it as a kid
The Milk Bucket of Freydis. I think there’s versions on RUclips and daily motion
What if I told you Kevin had that DAWG in him? 6:34
Galaxy Brain Joel 7:32
The Tiffany Redemption Arc 8:53
Tarrah. The Purple Parrot Queen 10:23
Two season 2 runs I wish to see in next video package: Snake skin boots of Billy the kid & the very tall turban of Ahmad Baba.
Some of my favorite temple runs are
the Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible (loss but a brutal layout and the players really got close)
The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen (Zack was faaaaast) and The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan (because of the tight ending)
My least favorite team was the Red Jaguars and my least favorite team was The Smashed Printing plate of Frederick Douglas.
@@SmoothCriminal12 yakerra was excellent!
A lot of people believe the other two guards were in the Crypt and Lightning Room, and we already know Joel evaded a Dark Forest guard.
They wouldn't put two Temple Guards in a single room. Remember, "three specific rooms".
Though some said that one episode had a guard occupying two rooms of the temple.
what about The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen run?
There is a difficult thing about myself and get the phone call from Nickelodeon guts And legends of the hidden Temple
Whoever was responsible for the reboot deserves gonnorhea
what do you think of the "new" temple? it... kinda sucks eh?
Yeah I’m not a fan hahahaha
Im glad im not alone in thinking that
@@PeeledEyes they had Kirk Fog as a guest - A GUEST. >_
@@DeconvertedMan knowing damn well he Should've been the host.....
How do you not have the 2nd fastest temple run ever, The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland on here? Its better than all of these.
tbf, in that run, the girl only had to go through 5 rooms before getting the horn, just one room more than the mask of shaka zulu, and the horn being on the upper floor put her in a prime position for a quicker escape. the layout she got basically handed her the win, although she still deserves props for actually taking advantage of it and getting a record time.
My Favorite Team Is The Purple Parrot.
What is the bumper music for the screen introducing each run? It sounds eerily familiar, like I heard it in a vaporwave mix somewhere.
It’s a slowed down version of the Siskel and Ebert theme song from the late 80s/90s iteration of their show
@@PeeledEyes You're amazing. Thanks for the reply!
Why did this young girl jennifer slip and fall in this legends of the hidden temple episode john sutter and the map to the lost gold mine?
You should've done the mask of Zulu
Kirk is a great host
Team silver snakes over here
What is the song you use for introducing the runs?
It’s the Siskel and Ebert theme from the late 80s and 90s
2:56 Ty Mathen likely had a family member in the industry.
Not true.... I can promise you that one.
@@tymathen1951 Wow, that name was popular!
Kidding...
But really I learned from a producer on that show "Survivor that they're likely to select a person who's been on camera once already, over someone new because of the "guarantee".
"What guarantee?.."
"The guarantee that you know they're normal, and act normal in front of a camera."
@@tymathen1951 Playing devil's advocate here; would you admit it if you did?!
Wasn’t Ty a producers kid? I saw another channel cover that. Explains why he was on all those shows
This is not true at all.

I'd consider it but I have to take breaks between the Nick GaS videos lol, the research can very tedious for the GaS stuff
Here is the success rate by column where 1 is innermost and 4 is outermost:
1: 11/32 = 34.38 percent
2: 10/30 = 33.33 percent
3: 5/24 = 20.83 percent
4: 6/34 = 17.65 percent
The innermost column had almost double the success rate of the outermost column.
Fuck'n legends - all of em.
