John. Last March I was on the lookout for a challenging model. I chanced across your video on RUclips of the Amati Bismarck build. So I binge watched all 26 episodes of your fantastic videos and then decided to buy the model. I started the build on 3rd April 2024 and finished it yesterday the 13th of January 2025. It is fair to say that without your expert guidance and wonderfully filmed videos showing the construction 0:13 were clear, inspirational and enormously helpful taking me through the stages of construction. I sense if I have not had your videos to follow I would probably not have being able to do it so well. As I live in Germany, I decided not to apply the swastika signs as these are actually illegal here. And I also decided to go with the markings as shown on the box as my spray painting skills are not up to your standard. Unfortunately, I can’t leave a picture on the comments here but I close by saying I’m really delighted with the finished model as is my family. All I need now is to make a decent stand for it as the one that comes with the set is simply very poor and then of course I’ve got to try and find a display cabinet to put it in. I now look forward to making another large scale Amati model and have the Titanic my sights. Will you be having a crack at their new one With many thanks. Steve
Viel Spass beim Bau , gruss Johannes
You’ve become one of my favorites. You have taught me much, thank you. I’m new to wood ship building. I have a build log going on MSW under Scotty W. Keep it coming, I look forward to notifications from your channel. 👍🏼
Really a beautifull, beautifull build...I think that I would indeed have the most trouble with the planking and therefore this would not be a model for me, but I love the end-result. Great work !!
I can assure you that the planking is the least of your worries, there are plenty of other things that could cause you trouble. Anyway I am really glad you like it, thank you for watching
finaly a impression from somebody that build the kit , so we won't to relay on the promo of the manufacturer, thanks for that. keep on building the nice models that you make.
Thank you. I’m just starting the Bismarck. It’s my fourth ship. I live at least 150 km from the closest hobby shop so much of the paint requirements have to be ordered online. Can you list the colours and number of bottles needed to finish.
Hello Bob, I understand the Situation you are into , because I have a similar Problem with Hobby Supplies which I don't have in my own Hobby Store . Nevertheless to send you the list of the required Paint Numbers I need to watch every Video I made from this Project and by all needs : I don't have the Time for this ! If it's not too much of a hassle for you please check out all my Videos because as far as I remember I put all Colors I've used in the Video . Thank you for understanding and have fun with the Model .
How many hours do you think it took you. Plus I was wondering if the Amati model is more or less the same as the Hackette magazine model that was some years back. Your model is brilliant work mate.
Thank you . Well about the Hours of construction , I really don't know but what I can say is that I spend 6 Month straight ( almost daily ) to fabricate it . If I would make a very rough estimation , I would say I spend around 900 Hours on the Model !! As for your other Question, yes it is the same Model with some slight improvements because AMATI was the fabricator of the other Bismarck which Hachette has distributed
@davaoshipmodeller Hope you don't mind me asking, but what kind of filler did you use between the photo etching and the wood. I just send away yesterday for one, so I guess my next year modelling has been decided. Thanks for you help.
Excellent review of the build. You have helped me make my mind up between the Bismark and the Prince Eugen. Sounds like the Bismark is better value and it helps that it's my favorite ship ;)
Well the validation is my personal point of view but as from my experience I would say that I am right with my verdict. Fact is that the Bismarck is way more detailed than the Prinz Eugen and that for the same Price. I am glad you watched my validation and I am sure you will be not disappointed from the Kit . Happy modelling , John
Really enjoyed the new finale and think the rating system is fair and very well done. Clearly you put a lot of thought into the categories that will help builders who are considering purchasing that model. I look forward to your review of the Ulises Tug. Though it was a past build... Would you consider rating the ARNO ? Thank you for all that you share. You are appreciated.
I am glad you like the new Style and yes I will certainly rate the Ulises in the same Way if the majority of the Viewers agree . Well I can't do a rating of the Arno Ferrari on RUclips , since this Project is already finished, but if you need a personal advise, send me an email and I'll give you a brief and personal Rating for that Model
Great review and fair, especially the instructions. Being pretty new at this model building level have found the instructions on my Fifie lacking in some areas, poorly placed and dead wrong in a couple. But with that said, with no other real experiences with this level kit have no actual comparisons. Waiting for much more from you as you have become via You Tube my go and distant shores mentor👍👍

Great series of videos. Hope to build this someday. I love your display stand. I hope you do t mind me asking where you got it from?
Thank you I am glad you like it. Well the Stand was part of a Candle Holder , which broke and so I thought this section was perfect for the Bismarck .
Excellent. Up cycling 👍

@@junglelands9119 as for the Filler , I've used Automotive 2K Filler for that. Enjoy your Project
