CIG has posted that with update 3.23.1A the Firebird will have 24 s3 missiles :) oh and its stealth will get a buff from 20% to 40%, same as the Shrike

@@marcuswynn89 i fo like tbat idea. Its pro could be the flexibility of equipping size 3s for bombing runs on ground targets or optimizing for arial combat with twice as many size 2s.

@@blackmamba___ 24 was too many, shoulda been 18. Either that, or the Shrike should get a major stealth buff and be able to launch 12 at a time.
The issue with the firebird is that the missiles shoot too fast one after another. With the shrike, there's a delay between missiles firing. That delay is just enough for the client and server to sync and apply the damage from the missiles, one by one. With the Firebird half of your missiles dmg don't register, especially if it's a bad fps server. With firebird you better off firing the missiles one by one.

I see a lot of Firebird hate in here. I think it works better for me than a Shrike. Lots of problems being controlled in a fight because you simply cannot break away and generate distance. I want to be able to get out form under a Mantis when destroying the Mantis equals death.
Which is why with the shrike I didn’t get close, I think the fire bird works well as a scout ship

Firebird as a fighter probably not the best play, but as a car that fights its kind of doing it for me. Got it in the CCU chain holding value, she looks a lil goofy and needs another row of missiles for sure but her speed in atmo makes her a legit choice for an actual driver imo.
My biggest thing is the fire bird is in between an interceptor and missile boat and it really doesn’t do either well

Shrike is one of my favorite ships, not quite sure how it as a lightly armored Light Fighter ended up slower than the less technically advanced and more heavilly armored Medium Fighter frame... reballancing required to make sense methinks. I do like that the Firebirds launcher is downward facing for ground target/bombing runs. Wish it had an internal store of missiles, just enough for 1 salvo of reload for a total of 18 missiles. Ot would make its capacity more comparable to its competition and make it litterally 150% more useful. Dang perty ship tho
Even if it had the ability to target ships on the ground that would be cool too but I think the shrike is better at its role
@@marcuswynn89 no disagreement on the shrike being better. Long term Shrike apologist here. The Firebird IS capable of targeting ground sgios/vehicles, and its angled launcher lends itself to optimal "blindfire" bombing for those that like to practice that

Shrike is faster in a straight line too.
Now I don't know b/c I don't fly light fighters/. Interceptors a lot, but I did run into a Firebird the other day. The difference here is stealth? I'm asking because I'm only familiar with the FB. In my Corsair I had to get within 2-2.5km before I could target. I know exactly where he was as I was tracking his bounty and he was sitting still to ambush me.
So, unless the Shrike has similar stealth, seems that getting 6 size three's from close range are pretty potent. My Flares did nothing to avoid the inbound missiles and I got hit by all 6, enough to destroy 2 of my size 5s and make it impossible to kill him before he got on my 6 and camped there until I was dead.
its much has much more steal than the shrike but i think the shrike should also be an interceptor rather than a fighter
on one hand it cant kill many enemies, on the other hand it can cripple one or 2 and is fast/stealth. you could send these in before a fighter swarm to damage key targets. you see the vanguard loose its wing and have 2 red parts. follow up fighters could finish off those targets.

I was going to buy, then I tested it on a vlrt. All missiles hit the Argo cargo, used all the ballistics. Still couldn’t take it out or the 100i. Went to re-arm got smacked by the 100i, blew up. Nope, going to give this one a miss. It does fly well and is very nimble, but it’s so weak, it pops at the slightest impact.
Ngl I tried it on a war bond CCU chain because I felt like the guns it came with blew ass. Was on my way up and figured I'd hold it and try it before getting another warbond slapped in. I'm not even kidding when I say this bro, if you find somebody with it, tell them to slap some omniskys on and let you try it. You are kind of right about it being weak but this thing actually fucking slaps with cannons on. It ain't got the base saber DPS but it's oddly satisfying to hit and run with this thing using high alpha damage. Was dicking around with a buddy and he couldn't really keep a lock on me, feels like that's what it's intended to abuse. It's feeling like a 20(ish) percent reduction to signatures, you're visible to other fighters around 7k. Def needs more missiles tho

Rn I’d say the Firebird is a better version of the Shrike. That doesn’t mean the Firebird is op, it means more like Shrike is underpowered. In 6 months of playing I haven’t seen a single Talon, let alone a Shrike…

its not really a missile boat i tend to think of it as a stealth ship with a lot of missiles

ILW was a bit of a disaster, this year. CIG really botched things lol.... The Nursa trailer that caused so much drama... The release of the very cool, but originally underwhelming performer, the Firebird (glad they improved it). Oh and apparently lower than expected sales for CIG, this ILW.
I have never ever used a Shrike, so I have no personal basis for comparison, so appreciate the comparison! The only non Sabre fighters I have used multiple times is the Gladius and the Arrow (not counting racers as fighters). I learned PvP/dogfighting strategies in a Gladius, and just enjoyed canyon running in the Arrow, as an occasional alternative to my M50 lol.

It seems like the skrike is for more of a sustained fight, the firebird is more of a assassin ship, launch a lot of DPS at one target at once, and GTFO.

I think the new Sabers both look cheap and rushed. Just another quick sale for Invictus. I'd rather have the comet version. Talons have always been cool 😎
their neither, they already had the raven to pretty much base it off of, also firebird is the only new sabre currently, raven has been flyable for over a year and they also legally cannot sell it again or a ship that looks the same as it. that's why the firebird has the holes filled in and has different system set up.
sabre raven also is worth 2 grand, also im not sure if you could fly it beyond a year ago but I do know they gave them out back in 2017.
Also if you were talking about the comet for some reason that ship came out back in 2021. Again only new thing there is the Firebird and even that is bases on a ship that is very old.
