Mountain is one of the best “lane holders”.
With his 2nd skill, he can block and damage 2 enemies at once, and on top of that he gets constant health regen.
His only weakness are hefty, high defense opponents - he does phys damage so it suck for this case.
If don’t want to play males…well, no-one is forcing you)
Small side-note for Texas: she is free to get after completing some missions.
Additionally, she is one of few characters with regional VOs, and in her case - Italian.
And if you get myrtle with the module, he can block 3. He is literally one of best set ot and forget it units for most all stages
Oh yeah, defo check each character's regional VAs, we have Russian, Italian, German, Scottish with Bagpipe, Korean and even more regional Chinese dialects!
Oh yeah, you know the funniest thing about the retry button? They do have one! In one of the "endgame" mode, Contingency Contract. The only reason I think they put a retry button there is because you don't need Sanity(Stamina) to play those stage.
What do you mean it doesn't need sanity? It already costs me IRL SANITY just to figure out a strategy

I totally get what you mean about not being able to build characters fast enough. It's one of the things I struggled with in hsr. For a while after I started Arknights I also struggled to build the higher rarity characters. But now I can unexpectedly get a high rarity character and instantly build them without any prior preparation. It's one of the many things I love about the game.
This is where the base build comes in for the passive income. That's why it is a must to build your base ASAP.
4* are actually pretty good. As a rule of thumb you upgrade 4* and 6* and just SOME 5* like la pluma for example

If you don't want to play with males, that's your choice but as other comments said, Mountain is insanely good if you want a good lane holder. In fact, he is THE laneholder, mostly because of how brain-dead his main gameplay is. You just put him down, wait a few seconds, activate his S2, and then forget about that part of the map.
As for Asbestos, despite what some people say, she is not a BAD unit. If you want to use her, she will do her job well (her job being an offense-oriented defender specializing in Arts damage).
Some AK players have this tendency to call any unit that doesn't instantly delete everything in front of them bad. When in fact, most of the time what they mean is that there are better units to do their specific role. But that doesn't mean that the "worse" unit can't still do the job.
My advice is, maybe try to focus more on the more META operators at the start, and then, when you have a solid and diverse (the latter being especially important) than you can focus on raising whoever you want.
But that's my. The best thing about AK is that you can clear 90% of the content with anyone you want, as long as you're willing to put in the time and understand the mechanics. Being a META slave might make the game easier but it's not the only way to have fun.
You actually doing good. If I have to leave an advice, just put resource into what you think is good. You can also look for operator overview to see their kit and they playstyle. Do note to not laser-focused your resources onto small group. Level them up steadily is better and helps you if you're not committing into that character anymore.
You can save your Originite prime(yellow currency which is got from beating stages) and buy skins since thats the only currency you can use to buy them unless the skin is a event reward. You can also go to the shop and see all the skins that have been realeased and see which ones to snipe when they come back in rotation. But if you don't care about skins to much you can just save them for a banner you like and convert it to orundum and pull since your new and have a lot of stages to beat. So you don't have to worry to much in the beginning about spending a couple of them.
At 8:11 if you notice your operators dealing noticeably less damage than you would think that they would its likely because the enemies defense stat is higher than your operators attack value
In Arknights there's a few damage calculations that determine how much damage an operator deals
Defense is a flat damage reduction against Physical Damage for example if a Enemy has 500 Defense and your operator has 600 attack, the enemy will only take 100 damage
If your Operator has less Attack than the enemy's Defense they will instead deal only 5% of their attack
Arts damage is a percentage based calculation, If an enemy has 50 RES; they will only take 50% of any arts attack
True Damage ignores all enemy defense, arts res and damage reduction and will also ignore enemy gimmicks like dodge
These same stats apply to your operators too
As someone who has been playing the game for 2 years, I need this to be a series! The mechanics of the stages just get more and more complex while also being more fun the deeper you are into the game. I really want to see how you strategize in these stages, especially in the event stages or endgame stages, as that is where the creativity of this game truly shines.

e2 amiya is needed to end chapter 8. but you unlock chapter 9 when you reach chapter 4. so it doesn't prevent progress aside from the ending to chapter 8.

Crownslayer being playable could happen. Lots of enemies and NPCs end up siding with Rhodes Island at some point or another. And she has received some attention outside the main story (El Siracusano event). And she has a VA thanks to her appearances in the Arknights anime.
You don't have to worry about building Amiya until Chapter 8 (where you need her at Elite 2 to progress), but even then as a 5 star she's not super demanding to invest in and even as a starter character she's one of the better casters of her subclass since she's one of the few operators in the game who can deal true/fixed damage and one of 3 who can deal it effectively.

they do have retry for stages that doesnt use stamina like CC and replayable gamemode, but yeah i'll rather has retry that instantly manage the stamina aswell
Haha well im glad your continuing. But ya your operators are yours to level and believe me it doesnt take long to level them to e2 60 (90 is max but you dont need to go that far) especially with daily sanity potions you can get (from dailies) that give you 120 more

Asbestos help me on early game i'm playing arknights, sound like nostalgia
Concerning the currencies. The red stuff, Orundum is used for Gacha and is gained a variety of ways, the gold ones, Originite Prime (OP) are used for Gacha, Buying skins for characters, and for exchanging for beginner sets in the shop that become available every few player levels and are worth buying. OP is gain either buy purchasing it with irl money, or for free by completing stages with 3 stars. If you wanna use it to Gacha that’s perfectly fine, there’s tons of it.
One final note, as a new player you should check the depot button in the bottom right of the main menu. You should have a ticket in there to get a free 5 star.
There’s lots of options but I would recommend taking Lappland, a guard unit that can attack from a distance and air enemies, and well as passively silence enemy abilities which is super useful. She’s also a big part of Texas’ life, so you can’t have Texas without Lappland.
Another good option is Specter, shark nun with a buzz saw able to attack up to her block count (3 when fully promoted) and can prevent her own death for a few seconds
You can actually get 2 free starter 5 star in depot... And there's texas there

Having 300 characters to build is indeed a bit daunting, but they also shower us with resources at every event, so it's ok. At this point just put money into whoever you like, and when you start to struggle just start putting it into someone who can help with that. For example, you like how Deepcolor looks? Raise her! Do you find Moose unbelievably adorable? Raise her! You encounter a stage with lots of tough ranged units, and those two can't deal with them? Raise Kroos or Jessica! And so on. Early on the difficulty is very gradual and forgiving.

Realistically, you don't need to level up every character you get nor every low rarity you have.
You just need :
1-2 Vanguard : Myrtle is the best in this case
2 defender : Gummy and Cuora are the best low rarity, the premium ones are Hoshiguma or Saria
2 Sniper : Jessica and Kroos are enough
2-3 guard : Melantha and Midnight are useful, your Mountain can carry you very well
1-2 Medic : Perfumer and any other is enough for early game, later you'll get Ptylosis (5*)
you have no need for Supporter for early game
For the specialist: just level Shaw and a puller

You FOOL, you've identified yourself as a newbie, now everyone in the comments is going to be trying to give you advice
Any way, here's a personal recommendation on which 3 star units are the most worthwhile to build:
Fang - A beefier 2 block vanguard. Out of all of the 3 star vanguards, she's probably the only one really worth investing in early on, what with your use of Myrtle and Texas.
Melantha, Popukar, and Midnight - These are three guard ops that satisfy their own niches. Melantha for single target dps, Pop for multi target dps, and Midnight for ranged/arts dps. There aren't a whole lot of worthwhile 4 star guards that can definitively supersede these three, so investing in them is a worthwhile venture.
Beagle - She has a surprising amount of defense for a three star unit, so she's able to hold her own very well provided she has adequate healing.
Spot or Cardigan - Realistically, you'll only need two built defender units for much of the early story content, so take your pick on which tank you'd prefer. Spot is healing defender, allowing him to protect nearby units without the help of a healer. Cardigan has a boat load of HP and can sustain herself pretty well, provided she isn't fending off super hard hitting enemies.
Kroos - One of the best 3 stars of the bunch. High damage potential with her random crits and very powerful auto-use skill.
Lava (and 12F) - Don't mind me, inserting a 2 star into this list. Both of these units are deployment-point cheap splash casters that are great at fending off either mobs of low defense enemies like slugs, or multiple defense heavy enemies who are stuck on your defenders.
Ansel - Higher healing potential than Hibiscus, plus his skill expands his range by two tiles outwards, allowing you to pull off cheeky single healer clears on stages where you should probably be using at least two.
Orchid - She's really only here because you'll want to build a unit who can slow enemies at some point or another, and that's exactly what she can do. Plus she's an acceptable source of arts damage that only costs 10 deployment-points, so she's got her uses outside of just slowing down enemies.
Once you've got a solid foundation of 3 star units built, it becomes super easy to just swap them out for higher rarity ops as the game progresses. Gatcha titles like Arknights try their hardest to convince you that you've got to have the newest, shiniest character that can carry you through all of the content in the game with ease, but here in particular it's a trap. You'll want breadth in your roster starting out, not necessarily depth.
So about characters to level. It is intimidating but I will provide a couple suggestions. First off Myrtle, the small brunette with the flag, is considered the best Deployment point generator in the game. She completely changed how the game functions and is worth investing into.
Secondly, the 6 star you pulled, Mountain, is an incredibly powerful character. After his first promotion he gains the ability to double his attack speed, double his block count, and give himself permanent regeneration. Not a Waifu, but he’s an INCREDIBLY good boy.
Another one to keep a look out for that you don’t have yet is a 4 star healer named “Perfumer”. She’s an AOE healer that once promoted passively heals every single character on the map. Very good to have.
Deep Color is a “supporter” class unit, and she’s interesting in that she’s a summoner. Despite being one character, placing her down lets her summon a bunch of tentacles as seperate characters. Useful for a variety of situations.

her kit goes well againts enemies who deals arts (magic damage)
her talent grants her to gain sp(skill points) for every arts damage from enemies she tanks
her skill 2 when you promote it packs a punch, her range extends while her dealing AoE arts damage to enemies also buffing her arrack and defense
for mountain, hes a furry thats for sure, but his kit can carry you through almost anywhere
most 6 star characters have their best skill at 3, but some has more utility on skill 2
i like arknights cuz its not the game where you dont need to focus on just meta characters, ik year 0-2 operators have powercrept hard like ash (powercrept is when old operators has its better version like saga(new) > siege(old), i have both and i use both), since your new you could give her a shot
its not like im forcing you
if you stuck and afraid to spend recource later, i recomend to look for a guide how to build early balance squad.
if i describe how 6 star in this game is term of value, they ussually can do multiple jobs and higher stat. the lower rarity are not like they are not worth it, they just often great/decent but in less situation with couple exception (there are really strong 5 and 4 stars)
so it is totally ok for now just work with 3 and 4 star you have on early stages. and low rarity is way cheaper to build too, thats their own benefit.
About 30 max characters are enough for me, then I just improve those that I like.
But in the beginning, many 3* will be very strong
you do NOT need to build every character, there are way too many arknights characters for that to do that. I would suggest picking your favourite of each class for now.

Mountain is good 1st 6 pull, he scales pretty well to late game contents as lane holder. Asbestos is a bit niche but most 5 stars in this game are either niche op or some upgrade from 4 star. tbh just use 3-4 stars for now you prob will complete up to ch 5-6, by then i think you will have enough resource to build different character and know your playstyle.
also Melantha is 5 star disguise as 3

For your next video you should go over all the skins in the shop. I think there are some that you might really like
6 stars are needed if you want to make your game a lot easier, not that it's impossible to do it without them. This game's hard rating can depends on your knowledge, passion and commitment in the game, to the point that it's even plausible to beat all of the content with only 3 stars and below. It's also even plausible to beat all of it without promoting your operators. If you want to make the game VERY EASY for you, get the meta (mostly 6 stars). If you want challenge, don't use the 6 stars or do the hardest challenges in the game like Contigency Contract with Max Risk. Anyway, good luck Doctor.
Edit: Bro got Mountain, literally the best operators out of all of them in that banner because he can actually carry early on and late game as well. So lucky. Asbestos is good if you know how to use her. Barely any braindead Doctor I've met actually managed to fully utilized her kit entirely so, let's see if you can manage.

Crownslayer apeared in other game mods and stages. There was an event where she had something like half a million HP and was destroying units left and right; she had her revenge : )
Also, she might still be playable later once Il Siracusano 2 event goes up, because she is part of the story that revolves around this country
It seems like a lot of comments don't understand that Our Light Suzuran is THE Best operator in begginer banner. Reasoning:
1. Mountain is a self sustain lane holder, he's easy to use but he's basic af and there's a ton of other great laneholders in the game
2. Thorns is good once his s3 is set up but it can be pain in the ass to do so. he got okay dmg and can hit arieal mobs but his dps is nowhere near today's meta
3. Flametail - since flagpipe exists she's only got her give mid dodge to nearby ops on s2 or give high dodge to self with low duration on s3(she's not bad but clearly not the best)
4. Archetto - who?(uses aa snipers anymore)
5. Weedy - puss Y module jk. She's kinda second best cause while she's least universal among the contenders her uniqueness is undeniable and her s3 has funny moments
6. Our Light and Savior Suzuran, her S3 is overpowered af, it works well with almost any possible team against almost any possible enemy, it slows, amplifies dmg, gives hp regen has a large range and long duration. You can argue that she's not the best for beginners since she starts to shine at E2 and when you have at least someone who can benefit off her utility and you probably would be right about that, but her actual value is far greater than other begginer banner operators
focusing on leveling Amiya is fine and all and probably your best choice right now, in terms of purely meta standpoint your 5 best operators right now are
1. Myrtle
2. Mountain
3. Kroos
4. Amiya
5. Melantha
i recommend leveling Kroos up as she's very easy to max out and requires almost no materials for it
do note that support units will only be as high level as your squad's highest promotion level allows, they also prevent you from doing automatic clears afterwards
for tough stages it's usually best to bring a dps from the support for new players (so far you have only brought vanguards which are a support class), characters like Mlynar, Typhon, Eyja Caster or Surtr can singlehandedly take down bosses if used at the right moment, to use them to their fullest potential i'd highly recommend getting Myrtle to max promotion (e2) so you can borrow them, of course that is only if you plan on cheesing the early game, playing at the recommended level of each stage is pretty fun as well though once you know what you're doing, in which case Amiya would be the most logical choice

At 8:09 it took a while to kill those enemies. The reason for this being that there are 2 damage types in this game: physical and arts (arts being the magic one). These enemies with the shield have a high 'defense' (higher enemy defense means you deal less physical damage) but a low 'resist' (higher enemy resist means you deal less arts damage). Both characters you deploy deal physical damage, so it took a while. Meanwhile Amiya deals arts damage, so she would, in this case, be better suited to kill those shield guys
I will watch your career with great interest, and wish you the best luck on getting Weedy or Flametail (Tho Archetto isn't bad either)

when i first heard you say this i thought "it's probably because Hypergryph thinks if you failed you need to change your aproach like changing unit."
but then i remember how many close encounter where only timing is needed to result a successful 3 star clear and on those occasion pressing retry should've been an option.

i will help you to know some at least a beginner things in the game
First if you're asking how do you know the class of the certain operator just click on the operator and look at the bottom left you will know what class they are and what they are capable of like dps and buffing the enemy something like that...
And if you want to know if you're operators level is enough to finish a level you can look at the top left of the information about the stage you can see what are the recommended level for your operator should be for that stage, i don't know if you know this but your operator is way under level when you start that stage

5 stars is where the devs like to experiment with new ideas and mechanics for the game, which usually ends up making the characters clunky and hard to use. 5 stars are also almost as hard to level up as 6 stars, which is why most people don't like leveling up their 5 stars.
Mountain and Thorns are probably the best units you can get from the beginner banner, but Mountain is the most beginner friendly of the two, since he doesn't require too much investment to use, his DP cost is cheap, and doesn't require help from other units to do his thing. Mountain can usually hold a lane on his own and all he needs is his second skill.

You might want to try using different characters when using the support system, it'll help you know what characters you may want to roll for, plus you can look at their design if you click on the little magnifying glass icon on the top right.
As a new player doing this will help you het more familiar with the operators and maybe you'll find one you really really like.
(Texas has an alter that is the specialist class (the triangle one) you might want to give Texas alter a try as she's very broken if you think a little while you're playing with her)

dont worry about building the 3-star Operator, they're the essential for new player. they will always be needed as you building the other higher star operator. Just max out every 3-star and then you can choose to build other operator. They like cost nothing to promote, so you don't need to farm chip and the item mats.

No, you don't need to level up amiya to continue the main story its recomendable because she has an s3 that does true damage wich id useful if you dont have any high damage operator also for now you only need 2 healers, 1-2 tanks, 2 vanguars and the other 6-7 operators that you yhink are necesary for the level so leveling up like 20 caracters is enough for the early stages.
So you can have a level 1 amiya and complete the most of the story if not all
You DO need to level up Amiya to continue the story, it's just not any time soon. She has to be E2 by the end of chapter 8.

@@ClayChoShow That's how Arknights goes. I think 90 to 95% of 5 star units are trash, there's an absurd power gap between 5 star and 6 star units.

@@Kyle81290 5 stars are used to test new mechanics compared to 6 stars mostly, so far using 5 stars is the most fun I had if not clearing high content or current CC. Tho if talking material usage, 6 > 4 = 3 > 5 stars mostly. (Usually you should always max out 3 stars since they are pretty strong)
You can just half-build the characters like me lol

Its okay I had the same reaction when I pulled Mountain while aiming for a different character, then I pulled him again :'). You will honestly get a massive amount of characters quite quickly including a good amount of high rarity characters to spend all your resources on as you get higher lvl. The saving resources is good, and seeing how much you love texas, you'll be happy to hear that you get her for free later and shes amazing!!

Also, mihoyo makes garbage kiddy games. If they have a specific mechanic, consider it a good thing if another game does something different...
I just picked this up three months ago and am loving the game. I also play HSR and ZZZ, and I feel like AK blows them away in terms of how nice pulling and leveling characters feels, plus how many uses you wind up finding for dozens and dozens of operators (unlike in Hoyo games where you're ruining your account if you aren't funneling resources into building your best 5* teams).
You really don't need to hoard resources in this, and I'd argue that it's more detrimental to not get a strong squad of low rarity operators early so you can use them to clear event content (which has by far the best farm) and especially for making progress in the no-sanity content (Integrated Strategies and Reclamation Algorithm) which provide a mind-blowing amount of rewards. You honestly will still be using a number of these operators even once you have an account built. For me I still get use out of Myrtle, Perfumer, Ethan, Cuora, Gummy, Jaye, Purestream, and Deepcolor even on my high-end teams.
Getting at least one operator to E2 is worth rushing for, as once you have that it will allow you to bring a max level support unit that can carry you through event content that you probably wouldn't otherwise be able to clear with a mostly underleveled squad. The cost to E2 a 4* is so much less than trying to do a 6* or even 5* that it's worth doing. I chose Ethan as my first E2 and I do not regret that in the slightest - I still use him, and despite being a 4* he's still the best area lockdown operator in the entire game.
There are some 3* operators that are genuinely worth taking to E1, mostly because of how Integrated Strategies works with effectively forcing you to use a number of lower tier operators. In particular I find Fang, Ansel, Spot, Midnight, and Orchid to be quite good. 4* operators also really shine in that mode due to their very low recruitment cost. There are a good number of videos showing low-rarity and 4*-only clears of the hardest content in the game, and it's not due to gimmicks or anything other solid tactics and those operators genuinely still being very strong, they just generally lack a free "I-Win" skill like you can find on some 6* characters.
ahahaa This is a near perfect representation of my first ever days on Arknights, i couldn't believe how much i would later get into this absolute gem of a game.
