Well hitters always say when the faces Maddox, “I feel like I’m right on him. I’m just missing the barrel the bat” look up at the scoreboard and they’re 0-4 and they lost 3-1. Whereas when a guy throws gas, you know that you’re not hitting i.e. Pedro Martinez
@@samcurrey2442 Calling that an upgrade is such an understatement. Sounds like you share a lot of those awesome Nadel memories, and glad you got to hear him call a Rangers WS final out at long last. What a moment.
This is crazy talk, but as a Braves fan, I loved Avery more than anyone. Something about that lefty delivery. And he was so damn young in those early years. He really only had like a 3 year period of being good, but I loved watching him pitch. Unquestionably, maddux glavine and smoltz were better obviously. I'm still sore over the 96 series. We had no shot in 99.
NY was shocked smooth went that late. You mean, they found it odd the worst manager in baseball couldn’t get the pitching order right with the greatest pitching staff in baseball history? Yeah. Not shocked here.
Rangers fan here. I hope I never have to hear Smoltz call a game ever again. Most biased clown I ever heard in my life. By the last few games of the World Series, I had to turn the audio off and tune the radio to hear Nadel call the game. That man knows how to call a game. “If the rangers play Baltimore 10 times in a row Baltimore wins 9 times out of 10.” -John Smoltz after the orioles got swept by the rangers. “The Dbacks have the rangers right where they want them.” -John Smoltz after game 4 where the Dbacks went down 3-1. “Arizona in 9?” -John Smoltz probably.
He forgot that he pitched Game 5 against Andy Pettitte. They won 1-0. But Game 1, Andy got killed by Atlanta and Smoltz pitched that game too when Braves were up 1-0 and then 2-0, Maddux pitched Game 2 and Game 6, he did bad in Game 6 but pitched brilliantly in Game 2. Of course Yankees came back to win the 96 World Series.
Smoltz pitched game 1. But maddux and glavine are short list hall of famers as well. I know his intention wasnt to slight those guys. But kinda felt like it
Smoltz pitched and won Game 1 in 1996 Lol. Lost Game 5. He didn't pitch until Game 4 in 1999 but Braves were badly outclassed by 1999 no matter what order they went.
“I need a good John Smoltz story” precedes to tell the interviewer things that are public knowledge. Incredible stuff Jeter, god I wish you took steroids or something.
Maddox had ultimate control of the strike zone ( and the umps) lol
had ultimate control giving up three runs in 96 game six to cost Braves the series
Uhhhh….isn’t this about John Smoltz? 🤣
Smltz was hard but Maddux killed them
💯 %
We still need a good Smoltz story.
Maddux was unreal. So smooth. Painted those corners with ease and confused a lot of hitters
Well hitters always say when the faces Maddox, “I feel like I’m right on him. I’m just missing the barrel the bat” look up at the scoreboard and they’re 0-4 and they lost 3-1.

@@thawkereynolds I agree that's why I put Roy Holladay in my top 10.. gas with Maddux movement
Smoltz was really their only big game pitcher. Because he was a power guy. Smoothest mechanics I ever saw.
They had Maddux too.
@@TRivera13 Yes but for the most part he was very clutch in the postseason throughout his time.
Glavine was incredibly clutch
The Braves had two other hof pitchers in their rotation in Maddux and Glavine.
@@TRivera13but he was better ✌
Interviewer-We need a good John Smoltz story.
Jeter-Smoltz was really good
The Braves had all of those great pictures and could only get one World Series out of it
Gotta have bats too.
Behind Glavine and Maddox . What the Braves did in the 90s how only one World Series title is mind blowing
quite possibly the best rotation that has ever been assembled…14 division titles and one ring…that’s a failure. Buffal Bills of baseball
90s were great for the Yankees. 77 w Reggie still have a rapper from a Reggie bar
Smoltz / Maddux / glavine / rocker 🔥🔥
Crazy to think he was 3rd in that rotation.
Wow, what a story! So many ups and downs! And that twist ending, who could have thought of that!
And the rangers have to face a retired John smoltz all the way through the World Series it seems.
Dude no joke. I had to mute the games and listen to Nadel on the radio for the last 3 games. I couldn’t take it anymore.
@@samcurrey2442 Calling that an upgrade is such an understatement. Sounds like you share a lot of those awesome Nadel memories, and glad you got to hear him call a Rangers WS final out at long last. What a moment.
Tony Gwynn owned that man.
More Jeter please
Smoltx pitched in Game 1 and 5 of the 1996 Series.
Derek is class all the way.

We need to hear a lot more from Jeter. Just don't overuse him. Sure he's got a lot of stories.
I need a good John Smoltz story from you.
*Proceeds to tell the blandest story ever*
allow me to introduce you to Derek Jeter
Smoltz pitched games 1 & 5 in the '96 World Series....
What a story!
We still WON
We?

Smoltz pitched game 1 (and 5) in 1996, Jeter is mistaken
To be fair Smoltz Maddux and Glavine are all dawgs and it’s easy to get them mixed up

Maddox did lose game 6, but to be fair he only gave up 3 runs
Hope I never hear Smoltz call another Rangers game. Lack of common sense and full of worthless thought processes, well 9 out of 10 comments.
Smoltz pitched game 1. But maddux and glavine are short list hall of famers as well. I know his intention wasnt to slight those guys. But kinda felt like it
Dont be so soft. 😢
Smoltz and Wheeler have almost identical mechanics.

Durk a goofy
Awesome John Smoltz but jeters teams won the series both times
You had enough protection maybe you were overrated
Smoking smolts was alegend
Smoltz started Game 1 of the 1996 World Series. Jeter is lying.
