  • Fort Tryon Park has four-dozen gorgeous 100+-year-old American elm trees that provide a canopy of shade and interesting silhouettes for park visitors to enjoy. This video showcases one of the park's oldest elms, located on the Stan Michels Promenade near the Margaret Corbin Circle entrance. The park's elm trees are exposed to Dutch elm disease, therefore the Fort Tryon Park Trust holds an ongoing fundraising campaign to pay for a biennial inoculation program against the fungus. TWO MINUTES WITH TREES is a 10-part video series presented by the Fort Tryon Park Trust and hosted by NYC author and naturalist Leslie Day. The series features some of the most spectacular trees in northern Manhattan's 67-acre Fort Tryon Park - a New York City public park designated a Scenic Landmark in 1983.
