From what I read, the Samoans didn’t give a damn about the Germans and actually were friendly to each other. And for the traces of German, they don’t speak their language, but no doubt there is a tiny amount of German blood in them.

From what I read, the Samoans didn’t give a damn about the Germans and actually were friendly to each other. And for the traces of German, they don’t speak their language, but no doubt there is a tiny amount of German blood in them.
It is friendly. But that is partially because the German Governor to Samoa, Wilhelm Solf, was a Chad who respected the native cultures and was respected in return. There was a small uprising of Chiefs due to the social upheaval of electing non-chief Samoans to offices, but the rebels were deported to Saipan after being negotiated down the first time.
His wife and daughter also opposed the Nazis. Respecting the Samoan culture as he did, his daughter was named So'oa'emalelagi Gräfin von Ballestrem, which in the Samoan language means ‘She Who Has Come From Heaven’.
