The first thing I noticed right off the bat was pressing down the third valve. Even if I'm playing with the valves just the 3rd valve is never pressed because of my muscle memory wants to finger an actual note

There's a guy in our city who pretends to play guitar. I've never seen him play anything, he just tunes his guitar a million times, sits there and takes money.
But as long as what he does is really him, he's not faking. If he pretends to play to a backing track, but the sound is really someone else's recording, that's faking.
@@cerebrummaximus3762 Hmm. Hard to say. My husband often makes backing tracks to play along with, but he's really playing his part live, not faking. I feel like if you're good enough to record a track, you don't need to fake.
This was a difficult one. The guys that faked were mostly coached on how to pose, especially the brass. I didn't see one decent embouchere (mouth shape, for those who dont know). Generally guys that are faking are easy to spot by musicians that don't. You guys didn't do to badly. Except you don't trust your instincts. You need a very good reason not to trust your first reaction; because it's not filtered by any preconceptions. Thats why the old exam rule of follow the first answer that comes to mind works so well. Don't get stuck on the details; that's where the devil hides.
I also don't think the chin rest matters to judgment all that much. In symphony, we were taught how to play without it and most of us never used it. Considering my high school was one of the best in the country and I played first-chair violin, I can confidently say it doesn't affect your playing ability. So using it as a decider for real or fake doesn't really work. Now, if it's being used and it's backward, then yeah, that would help determine the fakeness of it.
Didn't get chosen, but it's alright lol Wonder how many people submitted their things tho lol Editor san must went through a lot of stuff to finally pick these I guess? Bravo to Editor San!

@@dingdingbella6521 Are you sure? I remember them playing pieces composed by the fans and playing together with the fans as violin accompaniment, but not on a duet.
Yes, they already did that, but reversed. They recorded an accomp.together, let fans download it and make a melody of their own to it. Lots of people have done that duet, with GREAT resaults, not only shown on his channel, but on their own. If you search RUclips duet with twoset or something similar, you can see several people doing that duet, (trio then), on various instruments, God, people are so talented!! 12:48 As a Pianist, I am quite relieved that I got it right. His fingers were crooked, his wrist too high, and most importantly he sat way to high, his forearms and elbow should be on the same level as his hands.
15:32 it kinda has to be, be wouldn’t be able to hold and play the violin with his other hand. But seeing a disabled, or, handicapped person playing an instrument is really cool. I play the violin too, beginner tho, and seeing that, proofed that I can play like that some day too

Things that make me happy: the harpist with the buzz cut and epic tattoos and piercings. I'm heavily-pierced and have a growing collection of tattoos and that doesn't mix too well with more 'formal' music. I primarily hide in theatre pits and get away with my body art, but I'm still pretty limited despite holding a BM and having a lot of experience. It's about damn time the classical world started being more open because music should be for everyone regardless of how we express ourselves.
11:08 I'm a voice student. (I'm also a beginner pianist) There are 3 ways you can tell if she was actually real or fake. 1) Her posture. You need to have a completely straight back so that your diaphragm is open (if that makes sense, idk how to explain it.), which actually looks ok in the picture. But, she looks tense. You need to be relaxed to sing. 2) Her mouth shape. That's a vowel shape, but very rarely would you want that shape while singing. Try it for yourself, do you think that would sound good while performing? You'd want your mouth to form a longer shape, with more space inside. 3) The way she's holding her music, which she actually fakes really nicely. It's up and away from her body. Hope this helps in the future if you do more videos like this 👍
@@cyrissiryc5126 tysm! I just got back home and they will let me know the results tomorrow I believe. They were so many other trumpet players, I have no doubt the judge's decision will take forever lol.
I'm a pianist, immediately knew it was fake. His hands were much too tense, you could see the muscles straining lol. As well as them being weirdly posed which TwoSet noticed.
I was looking for someone else who saw all this. I’ve played electric keyboard for years, and while not the same, posture is pretty similar and I can tell a fake when I see one lol
About the harpist. She is probably self-taught or very beginner. I'm harpist as well, and her technique, her hands' movements weren't right. That's why this game is tricky - professional would say this is fake because of her hands' position. Show it to Tijana, she will say it's fake)
Goes to show how good Twoset University is for so many fakes to have passed 😁 They should do a part 2 where they will judge based on a muted video to remove the possibility of trollers 😊
Whoever was on the harp. If you have a RUclips channel, I will subscribe immediately. I was transported for those several seconds by your playing! Really amazing!
For Tsubasa, I felt she was fake because she had a mask on. I don’t feel that you would have a mask on just to practice, so she must’ve been at someone else’s house, so she probably borrowed their instrument
I was largely going by the logic of "who the hell has a bassoon at their place if they don't play it / is it realistic they could borrow it for that gig"
The last guy is awesome, it looks so difficult to play on the right shoulder while having instrument made for the left hand. Would like to hear something played on the E string.
In the thumbnail the way the dude held the saxophone SCARRED ME bcs i play in band and never in my 3 months of playing a clarinet have i seen a saxophone play like THAT.
i love the fact that they went through all the trouble of trying to figure out whether or not the second sax player was trolling when the mouthpiece was literally on upside down
There are people who play reed-up rather than reed-down. It's an actual thing. His embechure is correct but his hands are obviously not. But I've tried reed-up before and it's actually quite nice, though my mouthpiece wasn't designed for it.
I went to girls boarding school in high school and had cottage house parents. The husband who was a banker played the sitar. It was amazing. Never seen it before. He didn’t play enough for us though. He was quite international. Born Rhodesian, raised British, playing an instrument from India and he could speak French. We had a lot of foreign kids so also heard music that the girls from Iran would play with tapes they brought and one girl loved to sing Iranian songs.
2:42 what is bros thumb doing. As a cellist this hurts me especially since he plays cello. It should be straight like a thumbs up touching the harmonic.
I was just thinking that the only reason to play on a left-handed violin would be due to not having enough fingers on the left hand. So I knew that last one was 100% real.
14:52 Yooo my playing of the bassoon is paying off for this one! He has wayy too much reed in his mouth, or it at least looks like it from this angle; and what is that fingering lmao- the only notes with the middle finger up while the pointer and ring are down is e flat and high f, but there isn’t any fingers down on the right hand so both are out of the question. I’m really surprised a bassoon actually showed up in this video!
Interestingly, as a woodwind player, I got all the woodwinds right and was completely lost on the strings. :D I could tell immediately that the lip position on the flute and the bassoon was awkward, but spent too much time over-analyzing bow holds just to get it wrong in the end.
4:27 The thing is, real Erhu player’s pose ain’t this awkward… Just that elbow, it’s going inward, when my homestay sister, an Erhu player would keep it loosen up and look relaxed, when I try playing Erhu (I’m a pianist), my arms look incredibly tensed.
2:27 "Nice one, you got us." "You tricked Brett, No you didn't get me." Speaks of some true friendship here I wasn't paying attention to guess along but I immediately thought it was real when I see the cello. Funny how they said the left hand looks sus but I can actually relate to that posture as an ex-double bassist, especially if you were trying to get a strong vibrato on your 2nd/3rd finger. I would think that posture probably would happen in a higher position compare to the photo but I am not familiar to the cello enough to tell LOL
Honestly the cello's left-hand position looked fine to me (caveat: I haven't played in almost 20 years). Maybe it looks a little awkward because his hand is relaxed, but that's because his whole posture is relaxed. This isn't what your body would look like playing "Elfentanz" or whatever, but at rest, it looks fairly natural.
This made me miss the time that a shared a house with a pianist, a cello and a violinist players. If you are good enough you can fake anything lol. Silly impromptu concerts were a very usual thing in our house.
if i did this game, i'd probably look at the background because no one will have harp or cello at home just to submit a photo🤣 me and my simple thinking
@@jasperxalicecullen Yeah, I would assume all the fakers are borrowing a friend's instrument. I thought the pianist was fake because it looked like he was in a band room and a real pianist would probably pose on their own piano at home.
On the second saxophonist, you guys mentioned something about the guys hand posture being off, that is actually very correct, it shouldn't be vertical like a clarinet but the thumb should be slightly to the side and his was doing that, it helps with playing big leaps and stuff
Dang, that was incredible to watch. Congratulations to those showcased in this video! Amazing playing! Good job to those who manages to fool them too. :D
13:40 I used to play the trumpet and could tell instantly she was fake. The fingers are placed wrong and her hand is too clamped against the instrument
11:10 It’s funny, seeing the singer, my immediate thought was “fake” because she’s holding the folder like she’s reading a school essay in front of the class… But then I wondered if I was overthinking it. 😂 Going with my gut, though, I figured if she was a singer she’d have the music held higher and more tilted so she could be watching the director, like what I was taught in choir.

The first thing I noticed right off the bat was pressing down the third valve. Even if I'm playing with the valves just the 3rd valve is never pressed because of my muscle memory wants to finger an actual note
@@Quasi 3rd valve is used for quite a few notes (and/or alternate fingerings)
@@EVersaevel yeah its not common at all though unless you have an extremely out of tune instrument on those notes
@@Quasi F#3 (123), G3 (13), C#4 (123), D4 (13), Eb4(23)

Alternates can be quite usefull (but usually a bit out of key) in fast runs or awkward trillers etc
There's a guy in our city who pretends to play guitar. I've never seen him play anything, he just tunes his guitar a million times, sits there and takes money.
But as long as what he does is really him, he's not faking. If he pretends to play to a backing track, but the sound is really someone else's recording, that's faking.
@@elissahunt But what if the backing track he's fake-playing to is his? Is that partial/semi- faking?
@@cerebrummaximus3762 Hmm. Hard to say. My husband often makes backing tracks to play along with, but he's really playing his part live, not faking. I feel like if you're good enough to record a track, you don't need to fake.
@@elissahunt He's not technically faking, but it is still deception
They sherlock holmed the heck out of the first guy, got it right, and CHANGED their answer 😂
The flugelhorn guy was touching the leadpipe too
If you see a brass player putting their pinky inside the pinky rest instead of on top of it while playing, that’s pretty suspicious.
7:42, his mouth piece is upside down (the reed is on top), at that point he’s definitely trolling
Didn't get chosen, but it's alright lol Wonder how many people submitted their things tho lol Editor san must went through a lot of stuff to finally pick these I guess? Bravo to Editor San!
My submission didn‘t get picked either. Somehow relieved about this 😅
i didn't get chosen too but its ok, they probably had thpusands
@@tea_and_music When I clicked on the video I couldn't decide what I was gonna pray for😂
Same here. I'm actually kinda happy I was not picked anyway. Though I wouldn't mind if I was
Same me too :(
Scrolling through the comments--happy to see how many of us non-musicians are here appreciating what Brett and Eddy bring into our lives in music, humor, and the embodiment of true friendship.
You guys should do a video making "duets" with the fans. The fans would send you their recordings and Brett or Eddie would play together with the recording. Just an idea.
already did that lol
@@dingdingbella6521 Are you sure? I remember them playing pieces composed by the fans and playing together with the fans as violin accompaniment, but not on a duet.
@@marcellocoimbra4540 yea I vaguely remember seeing a video like that though I never watched it. Or at least I’ve heard of smth like that
Yes, they already did that, but reversed.
Anyway, I think they can do it like you requested as well! Would be funny.
Such a great idea!!!!!
Might point out, the last violinist, Otu, had only been playing 1 year at that point. It's in his 1 year progress video... I can only dream of playing so well
i like how eddy played his violin together with her and brett sings along at 12:37. You guys should try one episode where you play your instruments together with your fans.
what is the name of the piece?
Hey Twoset!
I found your channel about a month back and despite never having learned a musical instrument in my life, I've enjoyed watching and learning so much about them through your videos. You both have brought me soo much joy and an interest for learning classical music and I can't thank you enough for it.
I also wanted to say what an incredible job you're doing for your goal of keeping classical music alive and spreading it to more people(a grt example being myself and my frnds who've all had to hear me ranting about your channel😂)
Thanks for doing what you do and I hope you are always well and living the best life! Hope to see you both live someday😄💖
Just remember, it's never too late to start learning an instrument. It gives you an even greater appreciation for and understanding of the music.
Yup!! Ever since watching Twoset, one of the goals on my bucket list has been to learn the violin (or any instrument in general)🤩
Welcome to the community! watch out for the rabbithole of Two set's videos. There are lots and lots of them.🙂
You should watch their virtual tour in December! (Link in description)
I found them a month ago as well and haven't watched much else on RUclips ever since haha! Learning the violin myself (that's how I found them), but I so agree with your comments on how incredible a job they're doing. They have gotten me into listening to and appreciating classical music. Really hope they can do the same to more people so classical music stays alive for centuries to come!
12:48 As a Pianist, I am quite relieved that I got it right. His fingers were crooked, his wrist too high, and most importantly he sat way to high, his forearms and elbow should be on the same level as his hands.
yes!!! honestly the wrists didn't bother me as much as how uncomfortably high the chair was!
There's a winner strategy: if those guys shouted "fake" or "not" in first seconds - agree with them. If they are doubt - disagree. Keep it secret.
1:55 another thing, his right thumb should be behind the valves from that perspective
Brooooooo
15:32 it kinda has to be, be wouldn’t be able to hold and play the violin with his other hand. But seeing a disabled, or, handicapped person playing an instrument is really cool. I play the violin too, beginner tho, and seeing that, proofed that I can play like that some day too
12:30 this fan technically got to do a duet with Eddy 🤣 👌🏻 🎻
The last violin guy almost made me cry😭
He is a proof that nothing, I'll say it again NOTHING can stop you to learn to play instrument if you really really want it, not even disability.
And of course we love you TwoSet!!👏🏼👏🏼❤❤
The baroque violin one is pretty obvious. Prople would not probabilistically fake on a very specific uncommon type of violin (that is baroque violin).
I thought the same.
If I had a baroque instrument, I wouldn't lend it to anyone to "fake" play on. That was a fancy scroll he had.
Heck, I'm picky about who I let play my actual instrument.
@@CopShowGuy If the person isn't flippant, I would be okay with it. Instruments are delicate, but not all that fragile unless you are purposely misusing them. I have had people remark that they're surprised I let people play or handle my guitars when they visit (pre-covid). But unless they start dueling with them, I doubt they'll damage them. Sometimes they know a good riff or tune.
I thought he was real because of the over-developed forearm muscles!! LOL!
Uh is the video of him playing with his right hand? Or am I just dumb and blind?
so i've been away from my trombone for about 2 and a half years and i've only just comeback to playing again. i resubbed today and i gotta say i forgot how hilarious you guys are i've had a very anxiety filled 2 weeks and i've laughed so much during this video i feel so much better.
I’ve played guitar for about 12 years now and I just had my first violin lesson last week. It went well and I’m looking forward to continuing. Thank you guys for the inspiration. Keep up the great work!
That woman playing sitar: I see you representing Indian classical music and really appreciate it!!!!💙💙💙💙
Thank you so much!! I am very happy that I got chosen to represent the sitar here, even though I am really just an ambitious hobby player :)

Such elegance and beauty, and the entrancing sound that always brings me into a peaceful place.
Hey guys! Just want to say that you guys have inspired me to play again. Used to play up until i was 18 and now at 35 I’ve found that love and passion I used to have for the violin. So thank you!!!
Yay, yet another one inspired by Brett & Eddy... Enjoy your journey, Rosalba...
hi! I am new fan of twoset in this month, and just bought the virtual tour ticket today! so excited. i am not a classical music people, learnt violin for 3 year and clarinet also 3 years during student period, then I quit as I know I don't have that talent or passion to continue my music journey. but I am happy to get to know more classical music in a more lighthearted and down-to-earth way. can't wait for the virtual tour 🙌
Hey, I too wanna buy the tickets, can you tell what happens after you buy them, like on which platform is the tour happening?
Great to have you in the fam! Don't say you don't have "talent" because talent isn't what makes a musician. And don't say you don't have the passion because if you watch TwoSet long enough, chances are high you'll find yourself itching to play again.
@@NewFelixTwo you'll get a ticket link to their concert on the email address that you've given, and you'll be able to access the concert through that link😊

Thanks for the reminder, I just bought one too!
11:08
I'm a voice student. (I'm also a beginner pianist)
There are 3 ways you can tell if she was actually real or fake.
Hope this helps in the future if you do more videos like this 👍
Watching this while getting ready for a soloist competition, this is my first one since before the pandemic and I'm rly nervous. Wish me luck!

Exactly, his hands were weirdly flat instead of curved
fellow pianist here and it was his wrists for me as well. it was after a second look i noticed his weird posture 😂
5:07 So proud lips were pointed out. Played alto saxophone and I knew right away it was fake because the lips aren't suppose to be like that.

It's awesome that this guy can play, but what's more awesome is for he has a CLAW
12:06 Omg that’s me

About the harpist. She is probably self-taught or very beginner. I'm harpist as well, and her technique, her hands' movements weren't right. That's why this game is tricky - professional would say this is fake because of her hands' position. Show it to Tijana, she will say it's fake)

2:45 I was giggling my ass off as a cellist knowing that he’s in thumb position, which violinists don’t know squat about
Same, thumb position is the unknown horror
As a violinist, I have acquired an upgrade
With the trumpet player at 13:26 you could tell that it was fake because on the right their fingers were in the wrong position
It is a cornet but yes I know they r close to the same (I play trumpet)
7:41 You didn't realize that he put the mouth piece upside down? What a troll xD This hurts me watching
Yea he was trying as hard as possible to look unprofessional.. (although my camera work could have been slightly better)..
Do you know what the name of the song is that he played?
Goes to show how good Twoset University is for so many fakes to have passed 😁
They should do a part 2 where they will judge based on a muted video to remove the possibility of trollers 😊
It would probably be easier with a video though
10:30 - poor Eddy and Brett did not notice that she's actually holding a double base bow over a violin 😂
I guessed the first 2 right. Got saxophones right too. The first cello had me
I like how you thought somebody with the saxy_koekies04 didn't play the sax.
Another fun game/entertaining vid. Props to the last violinist with the missing fingers. Very nice! 👍
That guy played better than a lot of violinists with two healthy hands. How is he not famous?
Whoever was on the harp. If you have a RUclips channel, I will subscribe immediately. I was transported for those several seconds by your playing! Really amazing!
13:13 polt twist: he is actually performing a very difficult atonal piece by Shoenberg
Lol I love how for the second sax guy they didn’t notice his mouthpiece was upside down in the picture
6:53 guys, you should've looked at her eyes, she was laughing.
For Tsubasa, I felt she was fake because she had a mask on. I don’t feel that you would have a mask on just to practice, so she must’ve been at someone else’s house, so she probably borrowed their instrument
It was probably a rehearsal in front of a teacher. That was actually the reason I thought it was real 🙈
It could also be that she didn't want to show her full face online and only wore the mask for privacy purposes
I was largely going by the logic of "who the hell has a bassoon at their place if they don't play it / is it realistic they could borrow it for that gig"
Cut to the real player playing with a mask on xD
> Mask on means fake player
Have you watched the violin progress reaction????
The last guy is awesome, it looks so difficult to play on the right shoulder while having instrument made for the left hand. Would like to hear something played on the E string.
That to me (a leftie) is the one legitimate reason to have a left-handed violin. That guy is a true inspiration.
I'd like to know who he is...
I'm a violinist who plays left handed violin (I also swap my strings), and I can say for certain, that this guy has skill.
Thanks people, I'm the dude who plays upside down : )

i love the fact that they went through all the trouble of trying to figure out whether or not the second sax player was trolling when the mouthpiece was literally on upside down
There are people who play reed-up rather than reed-down. It's an actual thing.
His embechure is correct but his hands are obviously not.
But I've tried reed-up before and it's actually quite nice, though my mouthpiece wasn't designed for it.
That last video made me tear up!! You see that people? You can LITERALLY DO ANYTHING YOU WANT if you put in the time and effort!
Thanks so much for the kind words! : )
I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT I’M IN THE VIDEO?! THANK YOU TWOSET!!!!
It should be straight like a thumbs up touching the harmonic.
i didn't get chosen lol, but i hope they make a part 2 for the people can have a chance to be seen!
The Bach piece is the Bach partita no. 2 - allemanda
For those who wanted to know ☺️
I was just thinking that the only reason to play on a left-handed violin would be due to not having enough fingers on the left hand. So I knew that last one was 100% real.
the first one is painful for me to look at just because of the no shoulder rest. its just so painful to play without one
14:52
Yooo my playing of the bassoon is paying off for this one! He has wayy too much reed in his mouth, or it at least looks like it from this angle; and what is that fingering lmao- the only notes with the middle finger up while the pointer and ring are down is e flat and high f, but there isn’t any fingers down on the right hand so both are out of the question. I’m really surprised a bassoon actually showed up in this video!
omg yessssssss i wasnt feeling the best but this really made my day - thanks twoset :))
This community is definitely the best!!!
Interestingly, as a woodwind player, I got all the woodwinds right and was completely lost on the strings. :D I could tell immediately that the lip position on the flute and the bassoon was awkward, but spent too much time over-analyzing bow holds just to get it wrong in the end.
the last guy just shreds that concerto to pieces, wtf... the warm full sound + piano accompaniment are just gorgeous.
2:27 "Nice one, you got us." "You tricked Brett, No you didn't get me."
Speaks of some true friendship here
I wasn't paying attention to guess along but I immediately thought it was real when I see the cello.
I love that they use a song of that instrument in the background
Aww, the Bach duet~ so pretty
This made me miss the time that a shared a house with a pianist, a cello and a violinist players. If you are good enough you can fake anything lol. Silly impromptu concerts were a very usual thing in our house.
Otu has evolved the perfect bowhold hand! Wonderful tone and expression too
I hope they do part 2- I am sure they got enough submissions!!
if i did this game, i'd probably look at the background because no one will have harp or cello at home just to submit a photo🤣 me and my simple thinking
Omg that's so smart lol
that's true! but you could just go to a friend's house and pretend to be on their instrument hahahaha
@@jasperxalicecullen Yeah, I would assume all the fakers are borrowing a friend's instrument. I thought the pianist was fake because it looked like he was in a band room and a real pianist would probably pose on their own piano at home.
But someone might know someone who owns an harp or a cello and borrow it to take the picture
I assumed everyone who is fake borrowed the instrument from a friend or relative.
You should have gotten the last one by the rosin on his violin, honestly guys. I don’t even play violin lmao
On the second saxophonist, you guys mentioned something about the guys hand posture being off, that is actually very correct, it shouldn't be vertical like a clarinet but the thumb should be slightly to the side and his was doing that, it helps with playing big leaps and stuff
8:03 Eddy: calls out how his lips are placed incorrectly
upside down mouthpiece: *sweats intensely*
I was wondering if anyone else had saw that
Dang, that was incredible to watch.
Congratulations to those showcased in this video! Amazing playing! Good job to those who manages to fool them too. :D
"People don't just have a sitar lying around the house" And they do have a violin lying around? 😂 I get what he means though.
13:40 I used to play the trumpet and could tell instantly she was fake. The fingers are placed wrong and her hand is too clamped against the instrument
It is a cornet but yes I know it is close to a trumpet (I play trumpet)
11:10 It’s funny, seeing the singer, my immediate thought was “fake” because she’s holding the folder like she’s reading a school essay in front of the class… But then I wondered if I was overthinking it. 😂 Going with my gut, though, I figured if she was a singer she’d have the music held higher and more tilted so she could be watching the director, like what I was taught in choir.
