1986 Ford C8000 Fire Truck short drive

Here is a short drive in my 1986 Ford C8000 fire truck. This truck is powered by the CAT3208 turbo diesel and has the 5 speed manual w/ rear splitter. It has 22k original miles and was purchased from the original owner, Bowman's Addition VFD.

Love that 5&2 in that Ford C8000. I was so afraid that it was gonna be another Automatic, but THANK GOD that Dept had enough Common Sense to order the Engine with a 5&2 manual.

Oh wow. I learned how to drive and pump on this same model year although it had the automatic. The sound of the starter, that 3208 sound up in the higher RPMs, even the original light bar control box all take me back. Wish ours would have had the air brakes. The hydraulic brakes were terrible.. truck shook like a wet dog under even moderate braking. Watch those lap belts - one day the buckle caught my boot and I flipped upside down as I got out 😂. Fortunately I had my helmet on. Thanks for the memories!
