    Personally I like the pre New52 Red Robin costume, the only thing I would replace is the cowl, if you switch the cowl with a domino mask, it’s not a bad really costume.

    • @HoboTheHenry
      @HoboTheHenry 2 года назад +1

      The whole thing was badass. The new 52 fucked up Red Robin, he doesn’t even have a Red Robin suit anymore and now he’s blatantly just Robin. There was an alternate Red Robin suit that appeared in 2 issues of the pre 52 Red Robin run that had a mask that didn’t cover his hair or fore head but still looked like the cowl and it was sick

      @@HoboTheHenry What’s weirder is that dc doing even try to bring the pre flashpoint costume back, but would rather have Tim being Robin and wear his Robin costume, but when Damian is in Gotham, he’ll go by Red Robin to avoid confusion, and I here like “Just bring back the pre flashpoint Red Robin with a few changes!!”. And it’s been that way since the beginning of rebirth

      @@HoboTheHenry yea, late pre flashpoint especially with the 2003 run of Teen Titans and his Red Robin series was when he peaked. Not even Tim Drake either but the core four peaked in 2003 Teen Titans run(despite that some people didn’t like some changes such as Bart being Kid Flash)

    I don’t know why but it’s like I was watching the live action titans show because what they both have in common is that both members of their own teams are either arguing with each other or isolating themselves from one another. Their relationships with each other are a mess, both Tim Drake (New52) and Dick Grayson (titans tv show) are always leaving their team to do their own thing instead of being a leader, manipulating their team, and being asses. And not to mention, both this and the show is trying way too hard to be dark and edgy rather than actually focusing on character development and story.

    • @TevyaSmolka
      @TevyaSmolka 2 года назад +6

      Huh come to think of it that comparison between the titans tv show and new 52 teen Titans actually makes a tons of sense when you think about it that way.

    Actually, in the single published issues, the past Titans are referenced. It was in the TPBs that the references were removed. i actually liked the initial story arc here and the Blinded by the Light arc in the DCYou series. KNOWHERE is from Morrison's Doom Patrol as well as Danny the Street. Basically, the TT here fights the Ant Farm from Morrison's DP. I also liked Tim's origin here the best and loved how Cassie's armor is basically Witchblade. But Bart sucks.

      @TevyaSmolka 2 года назад +2

      Personally I am glad the new 52 Tim drake robin history got thrown out the window during rebirth because my god this new Origin for Tim drake robin was so bad and garbage.

    • @CaptainAway
      @CaptainAway  2 года назад +3

      My understanding was that in a few other early New 52 stories, earlier versions of the titans were referenced, but in this series they were always intended to be the first, but I haven't read the original single issues of this series.
      I'm personally fine with Tim's origin here, I think it works for the character, but I felt Tim mostly acted like an ass throughout this series so I didn't like him. Definitely prefer the Tim from the Robin comics I grew up with.

      @DCMarvelMultiverse 2 года назад +2

      @@CaptainAway I went back to the single issues and compared them with the trade. They were referenced in the single issues. Also, the earlier team was referenced in Red Hood and the Outlaws. There was even a news story about it on Newsarama where the writer mocked the redacted references with a 1984 reference. I prefer Tim as a personality more than an origin. Although this one is cleaner, more worthy of adaptation.

    I have such heavy nostalgia goggles for this one. This was the first comic series I got into weekly.
    Bunker is my favorite new hero of the run they introduced. I’d love to see the character re-explored with the lantern crew over titans, bc if I remember they say it’s “Psionic constructs,” but I’d like
    a more star sapphire angle more. Don’t be lazy and give him a ring, but maybe explore the idea of “organic conduits,” [of extra dimensional energy] like we saw touched upon in the Minute War Flash story. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @CaptainAway
      @CaptainAway  Год назад +1

      Bunker is definitely the standout character here, and I agree, he'd be really cool to insert into the lantern mythology.

    ah the good ol days when I first got into comics. in fact I just reread them all lol
    The first 14 issues and annual are competent enough, I think they did a good job slowly building the characters and you could see the team starting to come together.
    But Once death in the family hits it just kind of collapses, I'm pretty sure it was probably editorial mandates that made the book fall off a cliff in the second half with it being sucked into death of the family and forever evil (which was used pretty well to get us to kid flash's arc)
    But it's easy to see that things never went to Lobdell's plans, he set up some stuff with Waller and skitter mom to be future stories, Trigon just vanished cause hey look a company wide crossover is here and this needs to be finished so I can tie into it.
    And then the death knell of cancellation and the forced rushed ending to harvest in the annual.
    There is some great ideas in this book and clearly Lobdell had a plan and for 14 issues imo it worked but then as is the problem with most modern day comics, company mandates and crossover hell destroyed any semblance of the story the writer was trying to tell and DC and Marvel wonder why they're doing so badly nowadays.

    • @CaptainAway
      @CaptainAway  11 месяцев назад +2

      I agree that it was probably publishing and editorial staff decisions that largely killed this. I was actually down to find out where Lobdell was heading with the series, and as much as I didn't like it, it was at least more cohesive and readable under his writing than it was afterwards. This really is what killed so many of the New 52 books in my opinion, they started out introducing mysteries and potential plot lines, but DC got scared about sales and all of that was abandoned for crossovers and big events in the hopes that short term sales numbers would be more meaningful than lasting, well made content.

      @CaptainAway  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, I read that Scott Lobdell didn't like Raven as a character, which is why she wasn't initially on the team, and he only even did an eventual story arc with her due to their being a lot of fan demand for her joining the team
