"he Teen Titans, also known as the New Teen Titans and the Titans, are a fictional superhero team appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, often in an eponymous monthly series. As the group's name suggests, its members are teenage superheroes, many of whom have acted as sidekicks to DC's premiere superheroes in the Justice League. First appearing in 1964 in The Brave and the Bold #54, the team was founded by Kid Flash (Wally West), Robin (Dick Grayson), and Aqualad (Garth), with the team adopting the name Teen Titans in issue 60 following the addition of Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) to its ranks.[1]
Over the decades, DC has cancelled and relaunched Teen Titans many times, and a variety of characters have been featured heroes in its pages. Significant early additions to the initial quartet of Titans were Green Arrow's sidekick, Speedy (Roy Harper), Aquagirl, Bumblebee, Hawk and Dove, and three heroes who did not wear costumes: boxer Mal Duncan, psychic Lilith, and caveman Gnarrk. The series became a genuine hit for the first time however during its 1980s revival as The New Teen Titans under writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez.[2][3] This run depicted the original Titans now as young adults and introduced new characters Cyborg, Starfire and Raven, as well as the former Doom Patrol member Beast Boy (then known as Changeling), who would all become enduring fan-favorites. A high point for the series both critically and commercially was its famous "The Judas Contract" storyline, in which the team is betrayed by its member Terra to its archenemy Deathstroke.
Stories in the 2000s introduced a radically different Teen Titans team made up of newer DC Comics sidekicks such as the new Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), and Kid Flash (Bart Allen), as well as Superboy (Kon-El), some of whom had previously featured in the similar title Young Justice. Later prominent additions from this era included Miss Martian, Ravager (Rose Wilson), Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), and Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes). Concurrently, DC also published Titans, which featured some of the original and 1980s members now as adults, led by Dick Grayson in his adult persona of Nightwing. Later, a new run following DC's The New 52 reboot in 2011 introduced new characters to the founding roster, including Solstice, Bunker (Miguel Jose Barragan) and Skitter (Celine Patterson), although this new volume proved commercially and critically disappointing for DC. In 2016, DC used the Titans Hunt and DC Rebirth storylines to re-establish the group's original founding members and history, reuniting these classic heroes as the Titans, while introducing a new generation of Teen Titans led by new Robin (Damian Wayne) featuring the new Aqualad (Jackson Hyde) and Kid Flash (Wally West II)."

I grew up on the 2000s cartoon, loved it, but didn't grow up reading comics. So when I finally really got into reading comics, I read the New Teen Titans. Yes, it has a very different tone from the cartoon, but it seemed like the natural choice since it's where a bunch of the main cast from the cartoon was first introduced and the cartoon's more serious storylines drew from that run. I enjoyed it a lot, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who similarly grew up with the cartoon and remembers it for its more dramatic storylines.

I finally found you. It's been 4 years since I last been on your channel and I found one of your old vids in my history. I always see Comicstorian (might have spelled that wrong), Comicsexplained, Sage Comics and Variant but not you which was weird considering you used to and still do comic reviews. I'm glad I found you again and I'm looking forward to your future vids. Keep up the hard work man!

In regards to the 73 cancellation; the later critically acclaimed Denny O’Neil/Neal Adams Green Lantern/Green Arrow run was canceled around the same time, maybe it was part of the infamous DC implosion and reorganization of DC. Just a guess

The 2003-2011 run of the Teen Titans was my first experience with the team outside of the cartoon. The time I first got serious about comics was around 2011, meaning that the book was in its last run before the n52. So yeah, I jumped in pretty late, but I did really enjoy JT Krul's run and I still enjoy it now. It was actually this run that introduced me to Rose Wilson and nowadays, she's still one of my favourite comic book characters of all time.

I freaking love your Teen Tians videos. I own all of the 2003 run and I read through it twice and I'm gonna do it again. I'm reading the current titan books, the team changes for Titans are dope but for the Teen Titans not so great, I'm mainly referring to the new characters but I'll see how their interactions will go

I really love your videos, it's probably because you're so honest and present not only your opinions but also as you said the intended message the comics were supposed to give during their run. Keep making more awesome videos!!!!

I was surprised you didn't mention Teen Titans: Year One. It's a great way of seeing the Fab Five found the team while also reading something that doesn't feel so dated like the original run.

The 2003 run is my favorite. I love the Rebirth run so far but I'm a bit confused with what happened to the team with starfire, Raven and beast boy when Damien decides to build a new team from scratch.

You’ve mentioned Graduation Day a lot but you’ve never actually spent time talking about it. I’m curious as to what you think of it/ if you’ll do a video on it sometime in the future?

Sadly I started with the New 52 lol. I hated what they did to Tim Drake and Bart Allen! I didn't even read the last Volume bc I didn't see a point. Then I read Geoff Johns' 2003 run and I fell in love. I am a huge fan of Geoff Johns and his work and this run was no different. I'm still reading through it, I'm on volume... 6 or so I believe, and it's fantastic. I read the first volume of Rebirth Teen Titans and Titans and they were extremely good. If it was up to me, I would say start with Geoff Johns because basically everything the guy does is pretty much gold. Anywho, love your videos Faust, keep it up man! (P.S. Could you do a video on the history of Bart Allen?)
