You make a great point! Both Elizabeth and Mary were definitely influenced by advisors whose decisions often had huge consequences-for better or worse.
Elizabeth had a great advisor in Walsingham keeped her safe from those Catholics, and others who were after her crown, and he found out that's what Mary queen of Scots was up to.
@Alan-gh8X Totally agree! Walsingham was a genius at keeping Elizabeth safe, especially with his spy network. Mary’s involvement in the Babington Plot really sealed her fate.
Elizabeth I didn't want to execute her cousin, but Mary was found guilty plain as day with the Babington Plot. And back then, there were no deals in court justice or imprisonment for life without the possibility of parole.
You're absolutely right, the Babington Plot was the last straw for Elizabeth. Although she didn't want to execute Mary, the political circumstances and pressure from her council pushed her to make that difficult decision. Back then, the options were much more limited, and the security of the kingdom came above everything else.
Daughter of James V, wife to Francis Dauphin & King of France for several months then married Henry Lord Darnley father of her only son James VI and last James Earl of Bothwell. She didn't have a great track record when it came to the men in her life 😢
They both had bad advisors (the same types that end up in government nowadays.)

@Alan-gh8X I am SURE it was as simple as that. LIKE I SAID, JUST LIKE TODAY.

Mary was daughter to, wife to and mother of a ‘James’

That’s just the way. It was back then
It truly was a time full of surprises, and there's still so much left to uncover. Thanks for commenting!

The same reason her mother shoved her dad's wife off her throne.
