Fun idea to compare some wah pedals! Thanks for the cool comparison! And yeah like some others mentioned I would’ve loved to see the Dimebag Crybaby from Hell here too. I have that, would’ve been cool to hear in a comparison 😄 Nonetheless, I will try with a clean sound and my EMG81 LTD and I might get close enough to compare 😊
Great video, very informative and helpful.. I'd love to hear a Dime Wah and Buddy Guy Wah. Your playing style is right up my street with very similar influences to mine and would make a good comparison for me. Thanks Euge.
there are subtle differences but I think you'd be more than happy with any of these. They all sound great! Personally I love the ones with built in boosts. Great playing as always!
Thanks so much for this, Mr. Euge. I am surprised the Dimebag wah was not included? CAE and their switching systems were so cool back in the day. Kirk had his awesome Dunlop rackmount wah but it was expensive compared to a single pedal. In the 90s and 00s there were so many signature wahs and we kids didn't know which ones we liked without trying them. In my experience wahs always sounded darker in person with narrower frequency ranges. On metal albums the range sounds very wide and the sound is very bright--almost like a boost pedal, especially during tapping sections of solos. I have both an original Crybaby wah and a Vox V847 wah. I haven't heard them in a while but I think the Vox has more high end? The Crybaby had more of the deep tooth brushing sound. An honorable mention I think should go to the Morley Bad Horsie wah for being easier to turn on and off than hitting the Crybaby switch under the pedal just right. I think the wah to use depends on what music one is playing. I would not use the same wah for funk or fusion that I would for metal. I guess most signature wahs don't matter as much now since the main difference between them is the frequency Q, range, and taper. I think in most modeling preamps now these can all be adjusted in software and assigned to a MIDI expression pedal. Having an adjustable Q, frequency range, and taper is a much appreciated feature. Having two pedals on a board (one for wah, one for volume/effects expression) is much simpler.
Great vid, you saved me some money. I've had the CAE for years but was thinking of buying the Petrucci wah, I think I'll just use what I have. That being said, I love the looks of the Petrucci wah. 🤘
I haven't used a real wah in decades but when I did, I preferred the Vox wah. I felt the tone was thicker. I've owned a bad horsie, a regular cry baby and the Vox.
Hi Euge! Great comparison and playing - as always! You were mentioning in your latest live rig rundown that you are using the Neural DSP QC with the expression pedal as wah. Is this because you could tweak it a bit more to your liking for the music you play or is it just the McCoy Wah and convenience so the expression pedal also can serve other functions in this kind of a setup? Just curious because I don't have a QC and not sure how specific the user is able to dial in a wah sound with this unit. Thanks and keep it up!
I found the Zakk Wylde wah to be smooth, and some more "throat " to it. That and the JP I liked. I really don't like crazy highend on anything, tends to give me really bad headaches lol.
Yeah, the Bradshaw would be my choice. How you have to test the Dimebag Darrel one. Michael Schenker uses it and even Kirk Hammett in the Studio (At least during the death magnetic Studio sessions)
Would love to hear comparison between Kirk Hammett and Hendrix wah. Which one do you think has a more mid to low end focus? Looking to buy one but don't like the higher pitched / harsh sounds

Great Video as always 🤘🏻
I bought a ZW45 back in 2005 when they were released.
Fantastic Wah, never used anything else
Rawk on, greetings Philipp
I own the very original Dunlop wah and I love it..always love to hear you play brother
they all sound solid, I must say.. me still happy with my Dunlop Cry Baby.. thank You for the video!
Thanks , ive been looking to add a Wah pedal , i didn’t really know there were so many different kinds . Great video🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love the Zakk. Most unique sounding to me.

535Q user here. Never found a wah that better suits me 🤘
I used to own that one for about 20 years. It was my favorite! When it finally died I switched to a Morely Bad Horsey ... I've been converted.
They all sound great but of course it's up to each person which one is their favorite... I prefer the Jerry and the Zakk

great video, very useful comparisons. Thank you!
Never can go wrong with CAE stuff. My most favorite amp is the Custom Audio Amplifiers OD100 SE+
All sound good. I use a fulltone Clyde in the color sound wah setting
Nice! I've been considering a wah!
Some Jerry Cantrell content would be pretty cool
Woke up to this Sick video. Thank you Euge!
I haven't used a real wah in decades but when I did, I preferred the Vox wah. I felt the tone was thicker. I've owned a bad horsie, a regular cry baby and the Vox.
Great video! would have been good to throw the Dime wah into the mix too

I didn’t tweak it all. I mean at the end of the day a wah is just a wah 😎. I use the expression pedal also as a whammy.
Great video
JP for the win for me.
They say that the Dimebag wah is one of the best ones
No dime wah?... 😢
First thing that came to my mind after reading title
the dime is going to kind of hit all of them as it has six different range settings
Slash too
Maybe a future video ;)
@@diocan7710 lol. Same here.

Jerry wah for me
CAE wah forever! Red fasel + boost
!
I gotta say Zakk Wylde knows his business
The Zakk sounds better through my monitors, nice and full.
You should try the Friedman gold ,no more tears, with the 3voicing Switch 😉😉
Yeah, the Bradshaw would be my choice.
How you have to test the Dimebag Darrel one. Michael Schenker uses it and even Kirk Hammett in the Studio (At least during the death magnetic Studio sessions)
I have the custom one with the supposed high end electronics
I had a 1969 VOX King Wah with the Fasel Chip stolen in 2000. I only paid $100 for it. Sad 😒
Would love to hear comparison between Kirk Hammett and Hendrix wah.
Which one do you think has a more mid to low end focus? Looking to buy one but don't like the higher pitched / harsh sounds
JP only one that sounds different. Sounds like a digitech wammy function
I wonder how the Friedman wah compares.
CAE is favourite Doug Aldrih wah.
The EVH is by far the best looking one
I’ve had the evh for years and see no reason to change here
Can't beat a Crybaby from Hell ;)
Sounds like a Metallica song being played non-stop... ;)
Not a huge difference, bad boy is the star. Euge is the main star
