I'm so proud of your channel's growth. I commented on your 1 hour Hieronymus Bosch explanation about 3 years ago when your channel was still growing. I said that I hope that your channel gets the attention it deserves. I knew you'd succeed, there is no other channel like yours. I often watch your old videos to remind me of not only your interpretation of the paintings but information about the painter also. Thanks for all of your hard work. It is appreciated by this subscriber. 👍
I cannot say how much these videos are appreciated, so many history channels cover the broader picture themes, wars, economics, sciences.. but the arts are an equal part of human experience & history that deserve the quality you always present them in! Always looking forward to the next
I love how this video highlights da Vinci's extreme intelligence and originality! As well as explaining each character in the painting and how their positions fit into da Vinci's view of the story he was portraying. Very, very interesting!
I’ve seen the Last Supper in person, and at this point I’ve probably read close to three dozen books about da Vinci, including one specifically about this mural. Still, your video managed to teach me some new things. Thank you.
James , This was just brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed every second. Thank you for all of the research you've done putting this together. I will watch it again tomorrow. And probably another 3 or 4 times after that.
This is the best essay video about the Last Supper that I've seen.. you not only covered its concept and method it was done but also the context in how it was made.. the meticulous thought and detail of the composition, mastery of light and perspective, the alignment of art and mathematics.. utterly beautiful! I wish I had an art history professor like you when we were learning about these great pieces.
Another amazing video! I’ve always been particularly fond of the way Leonardo portrayed the Apostle John as an androgynous youth. A lot of people mistake him for a woman.
I visited Milano and saw The Last Supper earlier this year. It's striking by its size and magnificency, but I must say, the tour guides are not even half as good as you, James. Yes, they only have fifteen minutes, you're not allowed to stay in the refactory for longer than that, but still, nothing compares to your channel. Thank you so much for your work.
I'm really excited about this. You actually make me more interested in art, which school never managed to spark in me because we never learned how to properly read a picture.
Very much so, thank you! I loved my art history classes in college (Fine Arts degree). Your videos always teach me something new and have the same satisfying tone, that studious classroom slideshow lecture feel. No loud RUclipsr antics, pop up graphics, disrespectful jokes, exaggerated faces or tourists milling around in the background. I get to focus on what you’re teaching about the art, and I’m always so proud of you for all the work I can see you put into this for us. This was very good.
love all your videos, especially this one. i cant remember when was the last time i watched a 36 min lecture in awe, with no distracting thought in my mind. It was captivating from start to finish, equally entertaining and educational. Thank you!
I saw the Last Supper in Milan, in 1968, when I was 16 yrs old. The painting was alive. The moment it depicted was perfectly discernable. I will never forget the impact of being in the same room with it. And I am not at all religious. Thank you for a superb and thoughtful analysis of this masterpiece.
I got this on my wall...crooked in the frame...such a nice torture!😅 You have no idea how much I have been telling people about your channels. I truly appreciate you and your work.❤
This was a facinating video to watch!! Extremely well researched and brilliantly done!! I have learned so much, thanks to your painstaking work!! Truly appreciated!!
Thank you so much for your content, James. My husband and I look forward to your videos and truly savor them. Your channel is the absolute paragon of RUclips in my opinion and this video exemplifies it!
So glad I saw this. This video extends this painting to a whole new world. From a casual glance, nice painting, to a completely different stratosphere of enjoyment and wonder. In other words you have blown my mind Sir.
Gave been hooked to your channel after a video on Yayoi Kusama. Can't say how much joy it gives me to see the notification of your new RUclips videos. Thank you for your works, James ☺️
Thank you for your painstakingly meticulous research into creating this visually and verbally brilliant masterpiece. Immensely informative and thorough as ever. ❤
Of course being there, in loco, must be an intense experience. But you James, give us all the background. This is so important as to be there personally, I would say.
Great as usual. I hope on these as soon as I see them. I enjoyed art before, as anyone, but you've sparked a much deeper appreciation for it all. I thank you for that.
What a happy moment. To share a beautiful and educational video in quiet calm on the couch with my wife at the start of our holiday. Thank you for this gift. Merry Christmas.
Fascinating. An interesting account of an iconic painting. It is shocking to learn how quickly it deteriorated. I would have enjoyed more discussion and examples of the 20th century restoration.
My favorite so far, thank you for covering this masterpiece. I also liked the sparse use of background music...allowed me to focus on your well thought narration. Much appreciate your work!
you make da Vinci so human, i can imagine him complaining about having to paint when he can be making war machines. i wonder if he refused to paint the wall as a proper fresco in an act of defiance? Thank you for the wonderfully informative video!
although the subject matter in this painting has always been meh to me, it is an amazing creation. I love the influence this painting has had on pop culture more than I love the painting. thanks for your deep dive.

Couldn't agree more! I went last year and our guide was awful - still enjoyed seeing it though - and gave my own guided tour to my friend!
I'm really excited about this. You actually make me more interested in art, which school never managed to spark in me because we never learned how to properly read a picture.

What an incredible timing... I saw this masterpiece literally couple of hours ago!
