I think it's so precious that the portion of the song about drying all their tears he sings to his daughters and his face shows a loving father that really does dry their tears!
One of my favorite songs. It was release in January of 1970, the year I graduated from High School. I had the album and still remember every word of every song on that Simon & Garfunkel record. I'm sure that I wore it out playing it. Wonderful to hear David and his daughters singing it and you reacting to it.
I loved this and I was never a Simon & Garfunkel fan so even though I’m familiar with this song, I never played it but David has the ability to transform a song into a masterpiece. I love this version. Of course David never makes a wrong step with a song and Im a huge Phelps Phan. He actually did this at the Labor Day Barn Bash last September and it’s awesome to hear him sing it in person. It was the best concert I’ve ever been to and the fact that it was two days of music from David was extra special.
Great reaction Lyle! This song was released January 26 1970-about three months after David was born. I think 54 years is an adequate interval of time to consider making a fresh, stylized version of this classic. Especially if you’re David Phelps!
What I love about David is that he always puts his own spin on classics and I LOVE IT 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 He could easily sing it like the original but anyone can do that he takes a chance not everbody will like it but he's brave enough to try, LOVE DP❤️😍
David could sing the phone book and it would sound phenomenal !! Looking forward to more from David's new album and thank you Lyle for giving us the pleasure of your comments and watching, listening to David every week😊
I don't like anyone messing with Simon and Garfunkel! But I've changed my mind! David's voice is so multi dimensional! This was truly beautiful! And I loved the beginning starting out so softly and him playing the piano is a huge plus! Thanks, Lyle!
David is a storyteller and every song he brings to us, he pulls you in. You believe the story because his voice, inflections, tenderness or boldness proves it to be true, whatever he's singing.
I don’t think he was trying to up any other artists. Too many times people like you have say well so and so did it better. That’s what’s wrong in this world.

Loved it. Like Somewhere too
Just proves that DP can take a secular song and put soul into it.
I never liked the Simon & Garfunkel version, but David’s voice takes it to a whole another level!!❤
I've hought about David doing this and knew he would ace it!! bravo Phelps family.

Man I thought the best version of this song was clay aiken singing it Then David does it
Amazing and loved it.

Loved it! But Lyle I needed to hear your words today. Thank you!!
I hope he sings this when I see him in concert in May.
Those that play an instrument and sing do neither justice and that is the case here, Lucy Thomas owns this song now....best version ever !!! !
Disagree 1000%
Compared to the original - terrible - not about you Phelps it is about a CLASSIC that will be around long after you.
In this case David loses to Simon and Garfunkel.
and he also loses to Lucy Thomas !!!!
