I do it with love for you guys :) Because I think you guys are going to be having one of the biggest channels on RUclips! I will support all of you guys videos!
This adaptive combat rifle features a number of recent rifle designs and acts as a lightweight, feature heavy, rifle platform. Using the modern, recoil-reducing “Grendel” round, as well as being built to endure rough weather conditions and capable of utilizing standard STANAG magazines, this rifle is equipped to fill many of the roles required by both military and law enforcement uses.
Thanks bud, we appreciate it. As for the RPK and the extended mags, I believe they had it backwards with the March patch. The M27 was originally supposed to get the extended mags, but the RPK did instead. So this latest patch was to correct that mixup (among other things). -snoov603-
The magazine is the same size as a regular 5.56mm NATO AR-15 (M4 and M16) 30 round magazine. The ACW-R is in 6.5mm Grendel, which is slightly bigger than 5.56mm NATO. You can only fit 26 6.5mm Grendel rounds in the magazine.
The 6.5 Grendel round casing is chunkier, and they cram them into a standard NATO sized magazine which usually manages to fit the average capacity of 30 5.56mm/.223 rounds.
the L86A2 is a fairly easy gun to unlock and its a solid choice for the support role. Unlocking the ACW-R, MTAR-21 and MP5K took a little more time, all of these guns require a little different playing style you have to get use to.
the 26 round mag is due to bullet weight. the acr in bf3 uses the 6.8mm remington SPC where the acr in cod (which people are used) to fires the 5.56mm NATO round which is lighter. the acr is capable of firing both rounds so both games are accurate. however, you get more range and power from the 6.8 at the cost of weight. smaller mags are used to reduce over all carry weight of the ammo however larger mags could be used it's just that the game developers chose the small mags.
This is my personal favorite weapon in real life, seeing how Magpul industries designed it to replace the M4/M16 by improving on the idea of what an assault rifle really is. and even in video games, it never ceased to redefine combat.
What I was referring to with the statement "all guns should be equal" was that no gun should specifically be better in every way. I believe highly in specific guns for specific situations and not an all around wonderful gun. And unlocking guns is not for giving you a complete advantage over others, its to give an incentive to keep playing for points and to give a greater variety of guns.
ACW-R is the BF3 version of Remington ACR (Latest Model) But chambered in 6.5 x 39 mm Grendel (Alexander) rounds. 6.5 Grendel is a bigger round. 4179 STANAG magazine (5.56 NATO X 30 Rounds AR Style magazine) can only fit 26 rounds of 6.5 Grendel. That why It's 26 rounds in game.
actually, the actual name is the ACR (adaptable combat rifle) first made by Magpul Masasda in Israel, then the patent was purchased by Bushmaster, which now makes them in the US
Wonder why Dice changed up the ACW-R's ammunition type for BF4? Could have been an interesting addition to carbines that are otherwise dominated by 5.56mm weapons
colorblind assist does provide advantages, technically speaking. when i can see the colors on teammate names and squad names better i can identify who on the battlefield is friendly. But i do agree that a lot of tryhards use it because the think it makes them look cool.
The ACW-R does less damage at close range because it actually does 2 points more of damage at long range. Coupled with it's low recoil this makes it far and away the most powerful long range Carbine (possible excluding the SCAR-H). The low initial damage is meant to offset this long range power, in fact the gun will kill in 6 shots at almost any range (other carbines tend to take 4-7) Between the weaker close range performance, and the slightly smaller mag, DICE was avoiding creating another M16
Actually, the bullet is larger in diameter, but shorter in length. Thus, they are about the same size. Plus, the programmers did eff up, because they say it uses the 6.5 Grendel, even though it either uses the 6.8 Remington (which is what they probably meant to put), or the .203 (like in MW2).
your rite but the GRENDEL round isnt an armor peircing round i checked it goes farther, heres the point im trying to make, the reason the clip is shorter is because the bullet is bigger so if a bullet is bigger in it is going to do more damage and the acw-r should do as such
Just a heads for those who think the foregrip benefits their weapon with a suppressor. Dice noted on a weapons patch that foregrip + suppressor eliminates the benefit of the foregrip becaus of suppressor, it's basically a weapon without the foregrip.
The ACW-R isn't getting nerfed, in fact it's getting buffed. After the next patch, the ACW-R will get the 6.65mm round which means that it will have the same amount of damage as the other carbines. I'm not sure if this larger and more powerful round will make it have more recoil
Hey guys! Just started watching your vids a litte while ago. I like the two person approach you take to reviewing weapons. It's a lot more insightful than some self proclaimed pro fawning over his favorite newb cannon. I have a request: can you do post patch RPK-74? I think they mucked it up with the last patch because it doesn't have extended mags anymore, but the M27 IAR does. At least that's what I've gathered.
The 26/27 rounds in the gun feels right for some reason. I didn't really feel like I was blowing through the magazine as quickly as other guns with less than 30/31 rounds in the mag.
....Bushmaster made the Magpul Masada, The rights were then sold to remington who now manufactures the ACR Adaptive compat rifle or ACW-r Adaptive combat weapon-rifle
Its amazing, and just leave it at that. My setup is kobra sight, foregrip, heavy barrel. Gives it the extra boost to make it better at longer ranges with the low magazine capacity and average carbine damage :D
IRL alot of weapons are better than some that does not mean that they are OP. it's not about the better gun it's the way you use yours. loved the content subbed and i cant wait for more. :)
The ACW-R (aka. ACR) is said to be having little or no recoil, hence vibrates less while firing (i'm not a weapon's expert, i'm just quoting from some site which i read it from) So my guess is that DICE wanted the players to feel the realism, just as how they added super-complicated-recoil patterns on the other guns....
it uses a 6.8spc round, which for reasons i cant figure out has lower recoil. despite having a larger parent casing, more weight (3g heavier) and much higher initial velocity than a 5.56 round. it also flies further and more accurately. the mad scientists have been at work...
The only times I get killed when I use this gun are when I don't get to take the first shot or my aim is off. Other than that, I love it. I was on metro and I ran into five people. Fired the entire mag, stepped into cover, reloaded, and fired again before the medics could revive them all. Great for sustained fire behind cover.
Use this gun in long range, and burst fire. The low recoil will help you stay on target, and the high rate of fire will drop enemies very quick. Also the iron sights are a bit of pain in the ass. Last but not least, don't rambo with this gun. The low magazine size and high rof will drain you before getting about 2-3 kills. Pick your targets. And remember the quickest reload of all the carbines title also goes to the acr :)
Foregrip increases the spread, you only want to use with a heavy barrel cos decreases the ads spread. But this gun does only have a little pull to the right, so I wouldn't suggest to use a foregrip.
Just because it's a bigger round doesn't mean it has more stopping power. It depends on the bullet's geometry (ex: a sharper bullet has less stopping power than a hollow point) and load of gun powder in the round.
There is no PDW version. The ACR (ACW-R does not exist, Dice doesn't want to deal with copyright issues) is a PDR, Personal Defense Rifle. Basically it's a rifle that can be effective at close range, similar to the M4A1. Just for clarification.
I thought this gun was going to suck, but when I got it I fell in love. Already have 467 kills with it, but the only thing I hate is the low max damage. Other than that it fits my play style perfectly, and no other weapon has been able to do that.
I love this Weapon. Its gerat at long distances because of the low dmg. dropoff. Its also very gerat with a suppressor. The suppressor nearly does not change the gun. Even with a suppressor you need 6 bullets at nearly every range.
well no not in real life, because the masada and/or bushmaster acr (in real life) use standard m4-m16 mags if i am not mistaken, which would be 30+1 in the chamber... i meant in game i think the maximum number of rounds that can be loaded into the acw-r is 26, making it 25 magazine+1 in the chamber
but if you aim for the head in close range it will drop him with about 3-4 shots at 900 rpm with a tiny bit of recoil and burst at llong range he will drop for 2 good bursts aim to his chest
It's fine as is, the larger round is reflected in its long range damage. the stats shown in the video are wrong actually, its damage profile is 20-16.7, meaning it takes one shot more at close range than most carbines, and one shot less at long range. coupled with the low recoil and quick reload, a smaller magazine is needed to ensure the gun doesn't become OP
@wishuhadmyname but remember, you get Close Quarters now, Armored kill in September, Aftermath in December and Endgame in March i think of 2013. ALL of them will be free with BF3 P. thats a total of $74.99 but with premium you save $24.99. Plus all of the other things that you get like the camo and knife would be like $10 more.
It's not a PDR its just a lightweight assault rifle/carbine. It's not really meant for close quarter battles in real life. It's recoil reducing design and cartridge make it very effective and controllable at long range as well as its 800 RPM fire rate which is a good standard for assault rifles and carbines.
my favourite are the aug a3, acw r, and the l86a2 ( u should really give the acw r a chance, its a beast, watch ipwnstar4hire's review of it ) but how did u unlock the scar l? Im having alot of trouble getting the nade kills, Ive got 6 so far, but I guess nading just isnt my thing? got any tips to get the 15 kills? and btw I think the pp 19 is the shittiest pdw, seriously, I spent about 3 hours unlocking it, and, well, it does 9.1 damage after 12m, I mean seriously?
In a previous video i said the scar u was my favourite weapon When fakethriller recomended a suppressor i tried it out again and this is one of my favourite weapons the scar h is still one of my favourites but this is my favourite weapon now
I completely agree with the ratings, however I disagree with saying that it being an engineer weapon down grades it. Personally I think that because it has the great aim, high fire rate and decent power, it compliments the engineers equipment and let's you have it all.
Main points about the ACW-R: + good fire rate + low recoil + consistent damage + super fast reload + accurate and good at any range - not very good hip fire - less rounds in one magazine - slow bullet speed
Try them all out--it's not really that fun sticking with one gun your whole career in the game. Just experiment and find what you like, or switch guns over and over. Either way works
If DICE incorporated more detailed hit zones and damages for these zones based on real steel testing and data evaluation. Only then will the game be more easily balanced in this aspect and the ACW-R will inherently start to become more realistic in game. DICE has already proven a willingness to create as realistic and fun game as they wanted as shown in their released videos of their Sound Capture departments efforts.
OK EVERYBODY The reason why the ACW-R has 25+1 mag capacity is because it is firing the 6.5mm Grendel round, the round is thicker than the standard 5.56mm NATO cartridge, so that's why you can't fit as many rounds in the magazine.
Love u guys haven't tried it but I want to try it out. I think u should use extended mags on it because in the clips that we were watching u always seemed to run out of bullets in the magazine clip
5 out of 5! unfortunaltely i seems that the gun is very underused and underrated, since this is a M16-killer even with a Flash Supp. its deadly accurate and have a very low recoil my preferd setup: PKA-S sight (or kobra or CQB) foregrip flash suppressor or Heavy Barrel if i need alittle more accauracy
Yes I know the SCARs are both real guns I have a civilian SCAR 16S (SCAR-L), I guess I worded what I was trying to say wrong. What I was trying to say was the Bushmaster ACR is not also known as ACW-R, UN-like the SCAR which has different variants with different names, the MK16(SCAR L), MK17(SCAR H), HAMR, and FNAC, and each variant has sub variants such as a CQC or LB.
It's rare that it happens. Both PSN and XBOX Live have been hacked at one point. I think it's safe to say it won't happen again, or at least for a long time.
if you shoot, get shot,or a grenade goes off,or u get bombed by a heli, your controller vibrates (duh) but when it does your fingers slip from your analog stick things.and messes you up.if you look up "tips tp improve accuracy bf3" alot of ppl are gna say to turn off vibration
Yes, it does knock down the damage. I've been over this before with subs, and I confirmed through the game, it does indeed decrease damage. Of course, now you've got me second guessing myself again...
I doubt it will get nerfed. It has sub-par close range damage, a smaller magazine compared to other carbines, and it chows through ammo. I never have any trouble when going against it.
They did this to balance out the gun. Its basically the oppisite of the mtar-21. The mtar-21 has the fastest time to kill at close ranges out of all the engineer wepaons while the acw-r has the fastest time to kill at long ranges out of all the engineer weapons. (I got my info from the symthic charts)
its the same gun they just switch the letters around, its supposed to be ACR-C for the carbine model, so they switch the w and the r. same with the PDW-R thats the magpul PWR, they switch the letters around.
by the way you guys described the acw-r with its low recoil at any range just reminded me of the acr from mw2. just sayin...that doesn't mean that im some cod fanboy alright so don't start whining just because i mentioned cod alright because i like bf3 A LOT!
I'm really gonna miss you snoov, I miss these 2 person reviews
ACW-R is beast in every game
And 2 years later it's still 5 out of 5 stars kickin ass
5 years later and its still awesome

Agreed, and seeing as how the greater range and poor close quarters balance each other, there is no need for the nerfed capacity

Damn I miss bf3 so much. Such a great game. I think I’ve watched all of your guys weapon guides for this game.
This is my personal favorite weapon in real life, seeing how Magpul industries designed it to replace the M4/M16 by improving on the idea of what an assault rifle really is. and even in video games, it never ceased to redefine combat.
I like how in the new guns your actually holding the grip properly!

This Gus is an absolute beast I love it with the cobra red dot, foregrip and heavy barrel it's amazing try it out.
So I just got the ACW-R today and once I looked down the iron sights I LOVED it
Wonder why Dice changed up the ACW-R's ammunition type for BF4? Could have been an interesting addition to carbines that are otherwise dominated by 5.56mm weapons
Christopher Johnston idk , the ACR ( ACW-R) can accept different ammo types .
colorblind assist does provide advantages, technically speaking. when i can see the colors on teammate names and squad names better i can identify who on the battlefield is friendly. But i do agree that a lot of tryhards use it because the think it makes them look cool.

It's like a PDW for damage up close but it holds it better at longer range than any other high RoF weapon.
Just a heads for those who think the foregrip benefits their weapon with a suppressor. Dice noted on a weapons patch that foregrip + suppressor eliminates the benefit of the foregrip becaus of suppressor, it's basically a weapon without the foregrip.
This gun is absolutely amazing. I got my third combat efficiancy ribon yesterday using this gun.
You guys should do a post patch review on the ACR. Dice has been tinkering with it these past couple patches, I'm curious to know what you think.
It depends,if you are holding a spot down ( Defending ) Mines. If you are attacking in a vehicle repair tool.
You guys make the best weapon reviews, :D I suscribed
At least that's what I've gathered.
best civil reply you could have done. good job.
The 26/27 rounds in the gun feels right for some reason. I didn't really feel like I was blowing through the magazine as quickly as other guns with less than 30/31 rounds in the mag.
Thi is my favorite weapon in engineer and my second favorite weapon in the game. Great review
....Bushmaster made the Magpul Masada, The rights were then sold to remington who now manufactures the ACR Adaptive compat rifle or ACW-r Adaptive combat weapon-rifle
I would assume DICE would know, because the Grendel round is known for it's low recoil, and high accuracy, which you can see both.
Its amazing, and just leave it at that. My setup is kobra sight, foregrip, heavy barrel. Gives it the extra boost to make it better at longer ranges with the low magazine capacity and average carbine damage :D

30 rounds in the magazine (clip that goes in the gun) and 1 in the chamber (where it sits before being fired)
This gun is amazing. Best cabine at long range to mid. I always do amazing with it!
I thought this gun was going to suck, but when I got it I fell in love. Already have 467 kills with it, but the only thing I hate is the low max damage. Other than that it fits my play style perfectly, and no other weapon has been able to do that.

your somwhat rite but the main point im trying to get is the GRENDEL round is bigger and it should not do less damage than a smaller round
Holographic, grip, and heavy barrel. So beast.
Love this gun its just insane btw any chance you guys could do a post-patch review on the MG36?
Takes time for to get used to, but really fun gun to have, no recoil, absolutely accurate gun.
well no not in real life, because the masada and/or bushmaster acr (in real life) use standard m4-m16 mags if i am not mistaken, which would be 30+1 in the chamber... i meant in game i think the maximum number of rounds that can be loaded into the acw-r is 26, making it 25 magazine+1 in the chamber
same here. i think it's a glitch. the controller vibrates when anything else happens when I'm using the gun but not when I'm firing it.
but if you aim for the head in close range it will drop him with about 3-4 shots at 900 rpm with a tiny bit of recoil and burst at llong range he will drop for 2 good bursts aim to his chest

Kobra, Grip, Heavy Barrel on the ACR is AWESOME!
It's due for a review soon, not sure when we'll get to it though.
It's not a PDR its just a lightweight assault rifle/carbine. It's not really meant for close quarter battles in real life. It's recoil reducing design and cartridge make it very effective and controllable at long range as well as its 800 RPM fire rate which is a good standard for assault rifles and carbines.
Best combinations I found were (Reflex, Fore grip, Heavy Barrel) and (Holographic, Fore grip, Suppresser)
my favourite are the aug a3, acw r, and the l86a2 ( u should really give the acw r a chance, its a beast, watch ipwnstar4hire's review of it ) but how did u unlock the scar l? Did you read my post at all. It has better recoil than most Engi guns but is balanced out by the hip spread and mag size.
In a previous video i said the scar u was my favourite weapon
When fakethriller recomended a suppressor i tried it out again and this is one of my favourite weapons the scar h is still one of my favourites but this is my favourite weapon now
I completely agree with the ratings, however I disagree with saying that it being an engineer weapon down grades it. Personally I think that because it has the great aim, high fire rate and decent power, it compliments the engineers equipment and let's you have it all.
3 out of 5.
For some reason at moving targets or long range targets don't get hit with my bullets. Either it's I'm bad or it has a low bullet velocity
Main points about the ACW-R:
+ good fire rate
+ low recoil
+ consistent damage
+ super fast reload
+ accurate and good at any range
- not very good hip fire
- less rounds in one magazine
- slow bullet speed
Don't you also get a better knife and different camos for your appearance if you buy premium, or do they come with close quarters and b2k?
This gun is beast! Even if it has a low ammo capacity it's reload time is pretty good.
Try them all out--it's not really that fun sticking with one gun your whole career in the game. Just experiment and find what you like, or switch guns over and over. Either way works

OK EVERYBODY
The reason why the ACW-R has 25+1 mag capacity is because it is firing the 6.5mm Grendel round, the round is thicker than the standard 5.56mm NATO cartridge, so that's why you can't fit as many rounds in the magazine.
Love u guys haven't tried it but I want to try it out. I think u should use extended mags on it because in the clips that we were watching u always seemed to run out of bullets in the magazine clip
5 out of 5!
unfortunaltely i seems that the gun is very underused and underrated, since this is a M16-killer
even with a Flash Supp. its deadly accurate and have a very low recoil
my preferd setup:
PKA-S sight (or kobra or CQB)
foregrip
flash suppressor or Heavy Barrel if i need alittle more accauracy
It does, Its a Remington (same company as ACR 6.8)
yea.. based off the stats I feel like I should love this weapon, however I dont preform with it, but I do love the MTAR
if you shoot, get shot,or a grenade goes off,or u get bombed by a heli, your controller vibrates (duh) but when it does your fingers slip from your analog stick things.and messes you up.if you look up "tips tp improve accuracy bf3" alot of ppl are gna say to turn off vibration
I never have any trouble when going against it.
because you get things, others don't get. like few dogtags, 2 weeks earlier access to all the new patches, weapons and maps and a few other things.
and it's really helps out a lot! I'm color-blind and it makes the difference between me trying to kill my teammates and going MVP
How do you make your colors in BF3 look like that? Is that colorblind mode or something? Like the names of enemies and friendlies...etc.
you could try using a suppressor or flash suppressor to tame some of the recoil.
The acr does 20 damage for its max and roughly 18 damage for its min
This variant also fires a 6.3 grendal round
They did this to balance out the gun. Its basically the oppisite of the mtar-21. The mtar-21 has the fastest time to kill at close ranges out of all the engineer wepaons while the acw-r has the fastest time to kill at long ranges out of all the engineer weapons. (I got my info from the symthic charts)
Love your guys videos. Keep it up please!
@007 sqaud if your on ps3 just purchase it from the store in the menu. But once you download you will still hve to get the rocket and carbine kills
amazing as always guys
its the same gun they just switch the letters around, its supposed to be ACR-C for the carbine model, so they switch the w and the r. same with the PDW-R thats the magpul PWR, they switch the letters around.
by the way you guys described the acw-r with its low recoil at any range just reminded me of the acr from mw2. just sayin...that doesn't mean that im some cod fanboy alright so don't start whining just because i mentioned cod alright because i like bf3 A LOT!
