To see just how good these locomotives look in motion, just look up "race with a4 train" to see it's sister 60009 "Union of South Africa" They are just awesome!

The loco. was never in Canada, except passing through on its way back here. I saw it a few years ago in a very sorry state in the yard at the National Railway Museum in Green Bay Wisconsin. They were building a special hall to display it, along with a Big Boy. I went again a couple of years later and saw it newly painted and looking very good., except that they had painted all the motion with aluminium paint There was also the ex LNER coach used by Eisenhower while preparing for D.Day.

No unfortunately not! It is only spending 2 years over here in the UK. If it was sold to the National Railway Museum in York (England) It could be restored! There are many railways here that has the skilled people to do it!

This locomotive is named after a US President. I think it makes sense staying in the United States.

this loco will be looked after better than it ever has been whilst it is over here! Just a shame that it has been allowed to get in this condition! You Canadians should be ashamed of yourselves!!

Dominion Of Canada might come home to Britain with LBSCR A1X tank engine Waddon as part of Exporails decision to reduce the rolling stock but said Dominion Of Canada is not imunne from being disposed of. If the National Railroad Museum begins to face hard times they could work alongside the NRM in York to build and extended outlet outside America and Dwight D Eisenhower could be put back into steam to do Rail Tours in Britain for American visitors.
