Love your videos Greg! You provide the best overall and thorough explanation on avocados on RUclips and gives me the confidence that I can successfully grow them too!

@@gregalderdotcom thats what we're here for! To encourage you to continue to do what you do. I've read quite a few articles on your yard post, and saw that you recommend reed, hass, and fuete avocado trees to grow in a yard. I live in Phoenix AZ, would you still recommend these varieties for my climate? I was also considering the aravaipa(A) and brogdon(B). Thanks!

Thanks for posting this Greg! This is exactly what is happening to my Reed tree at this moment. I was wondering if there was something wrong but since there are also new healthy leaves I know now it's just part of the natural cycle.

Good video to remind all avocado growers like myself that this leaf drop process is to be expected. Still, with as much attention and work I put into my Reed, Hass, and Sharwill, I get a little nervous when I see the trees looking like hat racks with yellowing leaves everywhere. I'm in Orange County, and the spring for all of May was unusually cool. I was hoping for more blossoms and bees but waited in vain. Have lots of Reeds from last year, though!

Hi Joe, It's up and down. My trees overall had very little bloom last year so now I've got a bunch of bloom this year and I'm seeing lots of fruitset and feeling such relief! I suppose this will be your situation next spring.

I've had a black thumb with avocado trees but I'm determined to keep my current attempt alive. It definitely makes me nervous to see yellowing, dropping leaves! Mine is covered in flowers though and it's sprouting new leaves so hopefully it's doing okay over all, but still I worry!

Hi Greg, my Reed is dropping 1 large fruit a day, I guess it’s trying to make up its mind as lots of new fruitlets are all over the tree. What’s surprising is the fruit ripens in just a few days and tastes very good! I was planning on waiting till July 4th to start harvesting. I live in inland oceanside and the tree was planted as a 15 gallon tree in summer of 2017.

You're not alone here. A friend was telling me the other day that his Reed is doing the same right now, and he is also finding that they taste surprisingly good for this early in the season.

Mine dropped a few too, it happens... The tree is putting energy into the new bloom and new flush and can't hang onto all the old fruit. The pure guatemalans seem to do this a lot.

Hello Greg, how much fruit do you get out of your trees? I live in Texas in zone 9 it really gets hot here in the summer. This year we went into triple digits. I’ve had this potted grafted avocado tree for 3 yrs now and no fruit yet. What do you think the problem is?

hey greg! your videos have been a huge help in identifying a friend's avocado tree. I've been helping them for a bit now, but recently the leaves started dropping. this video was the first to come up when I was looking into the issue, but for us, the veins of the leaves begin turning brown from the base to the tip, all the while the leaves stay green. I can't find a thing about it and I've been searching for the past 2 days. do you have any experience with this?

Great video! Do you have any videos on signs of root rot? I have a baby Zutano about a year old that I just transplanted and it’s branches started turning black. I’m wondering if it’s a lost cause. Thank you!

It is normal for old avocado leaves to fall off physiologically

What is being discussed from the example shown takes the normal situation where the natural cycle of shedding yellow leaves. However there is another situation where a young tree with the leaves yellowing and drop off.
I’d like this last example discussed, please. In my opinion there is some sort of deficiency. This is very often avoided with no comment. Can some one beard the real lion of yellowing and dropping leaves, please?
