    I saw the V630 on a lightning sale. Was about to buy it, did a google search, so many glowing reviews. Then I watched this. I just bought the V600 (at a higher price) as it is a gift for my sister's family/kids for their Nintendo switch, and lag is a serious issue for gaming. Thanks for this, much appreciated! The power of ACTUAL USERS USING THINGS! Great work.

    I’ve had the V630 since Black Friday... it’s served me perfectly for movies and RUclips on the Chromecast.. I played super smash bro’s on it and I agree the lag is awful for gaming. But you mentioned edges are blurred out compared to the center? That might be caused by you not properly focusing it, have never found that to be an issue. Thank you for the Point to Point tip though that fixed some wonky color issues on this. High quality review, keep up the great work! 👍

      @@LifeKommando Actually I discovered how to toggle both built in subtitles and srt files by accident. A little deeper and not mentioned in the manual method. You can add this in description in case you wanted to let others know.
      Press 'OK' when playing a movie pops up a screen in the bottom. Here you have options of the regular stuff for rewinding, forwarding. Also you can play the next in the playlist if you had selected multiple items selected with a tick in the folder. If you continue onto the next set of instructions, there should be an aspect tab to change aspect ratio and the info tab where subtitles shows generally 'OFF'. Toggle to other options within there till you get the subtitles (the subtitles don't look amazing, but for the hearing impaired and those subtitle addicts, this should be enough)

    I just got mine (V630) and I'm actually surprised over the high brightness and thank God, the sharpness is fine, also at the edges (got worried after watching this video). No noticeable delay using a Dell XPS 15 laptop (connected over USB C to HDMI) and standard text in windows can be read in the corners, so I guess not everyone gets one with blurry corners (only way my corners get blurry is if I use the tilt wheel, if set to standard/straight then no problems) also the point to point setting is not helping anything on mine, actually I find the picture even more crisp and clear just with 16:9 or Auto. It's funny but I guess the quality control on these is very random. But I do agree on the fan noise and that the refresh rate could be better/higher, but it's still acceptable for me and I don't really notice it so much in movies. For the price, I'm 95% satisfied with my unit.

    • @LifeKommando
      @LifeKommando  4 года назад +2

      Hey s7ylers how you been. What firmware version is your unit running. Someone in the comments got sent an older firmware from the seller and that seemed to fix the latency issue for them. You probably find the frame rate more tolerable with better response times.

    • @s7yler
      @s7yler 4 года назад +1

      @@LifeKommando Hi I'm fine, but pretty busy in real life. Mine is using PJ56V931.33.191023 what about yours? I have to correct myself, I do see some latency/delay, so not recommended for fast gaming. But for movies I find it pretty good. I also found out that only with perfect adjustment the corners will not get blurry. If I use the manual tilting or the projection is not straight, It does result in a more blurry picture, but if straight and direct the picture is pretty sharp even in the corners.

    Great video, the most honest review I have seen so far. Loved it. Thank you for pointing out that it is running at 30hz, and most other reviewers simply ignored this important thing which affects the experience a lot (I guess they get paid sponsorship probably and that is why they are downplaying this issue). Anyway, I hesitated, but yesterday V630 was on a lightning deal and with the coupon, it was 190 Canadian (140 USD), so I decided to give it a shot since nothing can hurt that much at this price level, and if it is really unacceptable refresh rate and lag I will then return it. @@LifeKommando Thank you Kommando, I received mine today and it turns out mine is running at 30Hz or even lower cuz I can see the skipping frame when I played 24fps animes and the lag is even worse than my previous iCODIS 720P projector which was 50 bucks cheaper. Also, there were already two noticeable dust particles in the lenses when I turned it on for the first time. I contacted Vankyo to see if I would also get a software upgrade that might solve the issue, but if not I guess I will return it, it was below my expectation for sure, if I were to buy this for the original price I would be so regretted.
      BTW, I was able to find the true manufacture of this projector and its real model number is ArMax M19. I will have the link below to the manufacturer site on which they listed real specs (the specs are Amazon were all fake and made up); the real contrast ratio is 1000:1 instead of 5000:1 and the brightness is 260-400 ANSI lumen instead of 6500 lux or whatever. No wonder the colour and the responsiveness of this projector is not even matching my old 720P projector which claimed to have a 3000:1 contrast ratio.

      @@mingy.3156 it's ok, I returned it in the end. It's not even worth $190 Canadian and it's not real native 1080P. It just uses pixel shift to upscale 720P to 1080P because I couldn't spot any actual difference between the image sharpness of my old 720P projector and V630. It's just that the V630 projects less pixelated images but its chip size determined that it is not real 1080P. Plus you won't like 30Hz, I think even $100 projectors run at 60Hz and I have never used any monitor/projector that runs lower than 60Hz. It is just painful.

    Hey - thx for this comparsion!
    This test is reproducible and prevented me from ordering the V600.
    In all other reviews it said - no noticeable input lag.
    Furthermore it says:
    Stay away from the keystone correction and focus as this aggravates the blurring around the edges.
    The V6xx may be enough to watch movies, but an input lag of approx. 140 ms is definitely insufficient for gaming.
    Nevertheless - Thank you for this test setup and a look inside the devices!
    Only one thing - in part it is quite difficult to follow your rapid pronunciation because you speak fairly quickly.
    Faster than the input lag of the V630 ^^
    Greetings from Ger & stay healthy!

    It's an inconsistent issue that some people have while others don't, some get 60fps lag free while others

    DO NOT CHANGE THE BLOWER FAN!
    I've tested it and compared the blower fan to a normal 90mm pc fan. The blower fan transports a lot more air and the projector needs that cooling.
    If you change the fan there will be burn marks on the protection glass and or lcd panel. Resulting in a broken projector.
    I also tried to just make the blower fan more quiet. Just had to lower the 12v power delivery to the fan. Easy task, but even just a little lower voltage resulted in burn marks again. (Luckly they dissapeared after shutting down the projector and cooling it down.)
    So there isnt actually anything you could do. This projector / the 150w led just generates to much heat. Thats why its so loud.
    Also to note, there are way better projector leds. The installed led is losing alot of light because of its big emitting area and wide light beam angle.
    I bought myself a smaller led for 16€ with just 60watts and installed it in this projector. Its about ~20% darker even tho it has less than half of the original leds power output!
    I was pretty shoked myself what a better led could do.
    And now that there is less than 50% of power usage / heat output, I could finnaly lower the volume of the projector! I could easily recude the voltage of the blower and 90mm fan to 4v and 6v.
    No burning spot, a good image, lower watt and most important a silent projector!
    Im in love with the v600 now.

    • @LifeKommando
      @LifeKommando  4 года назад +3

      Someone give this man a damn medal, yea the blower routes the air through the entire system, it would make sense, last night I almost burned my carpet trying to figureout why my high powered video light is glitching, turned it on for a few seconds while it was facing my dark carpet and started smelling fumes lol these LEDs get mega hot. not an easy task to cool them while maintaining acceptable dbs.

So I can use TV or projector for TV/BlueRay/Apple TV and Roku and all work with 5.1 surround as these projectors only have stereo output so I take the audio from the Apple TV and the Roku into HDMI ARC. I am not a gamer so for movies is good. The edges are a bit blurry but for $250 it’s OK. As the OP mentioned yes this is not the greatest projector but a budget one. Life Kommando You keep inisisting that it’s unacceptable in 2020 yet I don’t see anything that remedies the failures of the Vankyo projectors that is below $350. If you want something better you need to be able to pay about $800-$900. Unacceptable is when you have at least one other solution at a similar budget. And there is nothing around under those specs.

    There is also the V620 which is an evolution of the V600.

    TL;DW:
    - V630 is better in color, noise and cooling. But runs at 30fps/hz and has slow response time.
    - V600 has better speaker quality, runs at 60fps/hz and is pretty responsive good for games. But color is more warmer and not as good as the V630.

      wait is the V600 actually 60fps? Where did you find that, I couldn't see any mention of FPS on the store page.

      @@samcorder408 Every display device ever made is 60hz by default no one mentions it because its the standard. You can tell by just looking at it / moving a window across the screen.

      V630 ALSO eliminates blurry corners due to the Digital Keystone feature. I have helped setup 2 of these in the last month and we did not experience the blurry corners OR the input lag. I have one friend that has a racing wheel and pedal setup with this projector for iRacing competitions online. You need to find out what is causing the input lag for YOUR setup because there is not THAT MUCH input lag in the two V630s that I have helped setup.
