Dredged crabs are full of sediment meaning sand, mud etc plus why not give the population a break?
is there no other way to get them without dredging? dredging is very damaging..
Crabs from the Raritan and near the Statue of Liberty?! Do they charge extra since these crabs glow in the dark 😂 I'd wager a hundred bucks those guys wouldn't eat their own catch.

Did the guy at the end say that they keep sponge crabs? If they want to have any left to catch they deffinately need to not keep sponge crabs (female crabs with eggs on the outside of the shell) and they shouldn't keep females period or at least have a small quota plus do away with dredging all together. If people who buy these crabs would simply not buy the females that would also help.
Shame they take all those females...
GTSTWINCAM16 female crabs have less meat plus they can lay between 500k and 1mil eggs but only do it one time. Out of those eggs very few reach minimum market sizes.
a female without eggs is the same as a male, IMO..>Harvest them BOTh except females with any eggs present. In theory a few thousand females could lay enough eggs for the worlds oceans...
They only mate once but can have several broods..so just bc u dont see eggs doesn't mean they arent going to have another spawn in a few months. They hold onto the sperm from the "one time mating" and have a few spawns. They shouldnt be allowed to take females imo.
Shame on whoever is buying dredged sponge female crabs! It’s disgusting! I didn’t even know people pulled them out of the water!
