@@gmbntech hello I am total newbie to the tubeless world. Got my MTN bike thinking it came with tubes (tubeless ready), and this video helped some. Just curious how often I should add sealant making the least mess possible. I've had the bike for about a year now and I've never added sealant so I'm guessing it's time to add some or check to see how everything looks inside? I have a trek xcaliber 9 2023 if that helps any. I got it as a gift from my parents as I cannot drive due to epilepsy, so this is my main form of transportation. Also ride some trails here and there. Thanks for any and all help. Nice video!!! Also I know nothing about tape inside tires 🤦
over time there is dry sealant build up around tire edge. it can make it tricky to seal after reinstall. perhaps you could make a video about how to remove old sealant from the tire. That would be really helpful. ✌️
Yes, I have noticed many videos explaining initial tubeless setup and also this refresh. But I haven't seen a video that explains when you should clean your tire from sealant and how and also questions like what to do when you don't use your bike over winter.
@@stefanwagener you can rub it with water and soap or light detergent (the same one as for you dishes) during the refresh if you want. Mostly the tires go worn out and leak through inner cracks of the tire and because of loss of elasticity - the become dry and cracky rather than soft and oily to touch before some serious sealant builds up on the edges.
Thanks❗️ I will be spending a couple hours resealing my rear tire tomorrow. Today it finally sprung a real leak after a few trouble free years, and I had to walk 4.04 miles back.
I was considering buying that Park Tool tyre sealant syringe but then I realized that the 200 ml syringe with nelaton catheter no. 10 work perfectly well and cost about 1€. You just have to trim down the catheter with utility knife.
Vittoria MTB Tubeless tyres can be seated easily with a regular floor pump. They are however a pain to mount onto your wheels. I'm also careful not to mix brands of sealants when I do a tubless refresh. Does it matter if sealant brands are mix together or am I just wasting my time?
Although I could remove the valve core and fill it through there I believe it would clog up after a while. That why I remove the tyre of the rim halfway and I can also check the fluids level this way
The danger of adding sealant before seating bead is the tyre exploding when trying to bead it. no matter how you add sealant the valve core will always get clogged up eventually... so why not do it the easier way in the first place lol
That can be a good opportunity to check the condition of the inside of your rim and tyre! It also allows you to properly check the amount of sealant you are already running, like you said. 👍
@AskGMBN what if any information do you have mixing sealant. Was on a trip and had a flat losing a lot of sealant. Couldn't find any of the brand I usually use (Muc Off) and had to use Stans. What if any problems should I expect and is there an ingredient that I could look for that would make one sealant work with another like a glycol base or something? Top tip also only use tire levers between the spokes that way if you nic the tape it won't be that catastrophic. Cheers!
Hi Dillon! We'd recommend fully replacing the sealant in your tyres if it's become discoloured or if it's dried out. It's good to have a look and check sealant levels and condition every 6 months or whenever you burp a tyre. We hope this helps!
Hello GMBN Tech! If I check the insides of my tires and the sealant is still liquid, does that mean I can go ahead and seat the tire without adding any more sealant? Or is it good to add a bit more sealant as time goes by? I recently changed sealant brands to Muc Off and the instructions say to remove any old sealant before adding.
Good morning Anna Is it ok to over fill your tubules tires by 10-20 mls? If not could you please tell me as I am going to be new to tubeless Thank you Will
Had it done on my spare bike having not used it all year, how long does it last goes to say no1 hack been 18mths should it be replaced I’m coming up to 70 that’s why I’m trying very apparently it’s all so in my future but I never thought off anything like this ebike air suspension hydraulic brakes tube less tyres carbon parts ! I’m not far back as penny farthing (not sure if it spelt wrong)away help🙈🙉🙊
Burping your tyre is the main cause of tape getting damaged. However, it's quite easy to lift and damage your tape when you're taking your tyres on and off. Hope this helps! 👍
Hi. I just got my tires installed at the shop. Unfortunately the mechanic put the front tire at the back and vice-versa.. can I just swap them immediately withouth taking all the sealant out and cleaning the whole set-up? #askgmbn
@@imilic8 let’s say a friend is too cheap to find the same brand and was considering mixing them, would it work or explode? Asking for a friend of course, I wouldn’t do that.
Hi Bruce! We'd strongly advise not mixing sealants as they have been known to react with each other. Also, some sealants aren't compatible with CO2 cartridges, and some are, so it's well worth sticking to the same brand to avoid confusion. 👍
Not that easy to pop the tire back to the rim. Usually you cannot do it with the floor pump. Air will leak before the tire would pop into place. You will need a quick release of a good amount of air such as an air compressor or special air reservoir bottle. I bought one from Zipp and it never fails me.
Honestly if you are gonna put that shampoo "muc off" its actually better to not put anything in there. You will save tyourself getting that scum on your bike and ruining your paint. Steer away from mucc off sealant it will definitely be a costly regret.
Seriously seen several videos on this so far. And it is by far the most helpful
Best video on youtube made the whole thing look simple
I love these five minute fixes with Annie! Helps me to remember to do bike maintanence! Woo! 🤘
That's great you're loving Anna's videos! Good luck with your maintenance! 🙌

tip remove air with the valve in the 12 o'clock after giving the sealant a moment to settle to help avoid clogging and wasting sealant.

I like these videos for dummies, made me think I might try tubeless. Inspired move bringing a quality presenter on board.

So clear and straightforward.

Great video. How often should I be refreshing the sealant?
I’ve done the exact same process with my wheel still on the bike and it was a little less hassle for me.

Thanks, very helpful! Why can’t I keep refreshing every 6 months and skip doing a yearly full replacement?
Too nice of a watch to work on a bike with 😊
Love this, literally did a re-fresh this weekend! 😎
Nice one, Rico! Thanks for the support!

Great video! Keep em coming. I wouldnhave liked to see more information on whether or not its important to rinse or remove the old sealant too!

Does it matter if you run presta or schrader valves with a tubeless setup?
Is one better than the other and if so why?

Muc Off is the best thing that came from Britain. I love it. Long live the Queen.

Thanks for this helpful video!
Timely video, and nicely done.
Awwww feels like I just brushed my teeth :)
Nice vid
Very well explained and presented.
Thank you, Paul! 🙌
I bought my first tubeless bike last year. How often do you need to do this?
Every year
We'd suggest checking the sealant levels and condition every 6 months and perhaps replacing all the sealant once a year. 👍
Wow tough crowd 🤣
Good morning Anna
Is it ok to over fill your tubules tires by 10-20 mls? If not could you please tell me as I am going to be new to tubeless

10-20 ml will be fine, a lot of manufacturers will give a recommendation and an overfill amount for extra protection for this that want it.

hello! how many mL is recommended to top up sealant in 29x2.25 tire? thank you
Thumbs up, thanks!
do you need to clean the inside of the tire/rim if you're doing a full refresh?
In the case of a full refresh, then yes we'd suggest doing this alongside replacing the tape. We hope this helps! 👍
What would cause the tape inside the tire to be damaged?
Burping your tyre is the main cause of tape getting damaged. However, it's quite easy to lift and damage your tape when you're taking your tyres on and off. Hope this helps! 👍
these new fold-up tires side walls are too soft i run nothing but wire beats cuz it is so hard to getting those ones off your rims

How do you attach your pump without a valvecore?
Track pumps grip on the valve stem.
@@piast99 wonder wich kind of pump you got, my joe blow and my topeak handpump definitely don’t grab te stem but the valve core
@@visserswp - I am using joe blow myself and it grips valve stem no problem at all.
how much sealant?
It usually will say on the bottle of the brand you're using.
depends on wheel and tire.
Hey Rodrigo! Just check the suggested amount on the bottle of the sealant you're using. Normally it's around 100/150ml. 👍
What if I got cushcore inserts?
For a refresh you don't remove them but I've removed mine for full refresh and washed both the tire and insert out and re-used
My five minutes turned into over an hour and now I need to replace my valves. DOH.
Yeah, it happens to the best of us sometimes! 😂

O
tubeless tires are not safe to use I seen too many people get hurt or bikes destroyed because of tires coming off the rim in tubeless wheels set
Wouldnt that be caused by underinflation, rather than tubeless setup?
