Little tip is get a lighter and heat up the bacon strips after you snip the ends off it will melt both ends together and form a little glue and seal better.
I'm new to tubeless mtb riding. I didn't realise I could put a tube inside it. That's good to know and makes sense. Handy to carry one of them in the kit then. Thx
Hello everyone. Im 30 years old and learned something new a week ago. Maby the best repair invention ever!!! A normal inner tube but cut in 2 and sealed both ends. U never need to take the wheel off the bike. For sure electric mountenbikes. Its called a snake or sausage tube. If u inflate it its a straight tube. I never seen it before .
@@PrayingWizard if you ran flat on both tyres, then something isn't right 🤣 and I wouldn't blame the tubeless setup. They are lighter, less prone to punctures, self-sealing, less maintanence, less money on tubes, better ride altogether
Was sceptical at first ,but being able to just pull thorns out of tyre and ride on is worth it and lower tyre pressures of course. Downside is getting enough air volume to seat the bead i found but 29+ tyres on 50mm rims
Helpful video! I just got a puncture out on a ride about a hour ago on the same tire in the video: Vittoria Mazza! I wonder if this tire is more prone to punctures than a Maxxis or other brand because I rarely ever get punctures. It's a very small puncture so I'll try checking my sealant level and add if necessary. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the comment, we really appreciate it! We'd recommend the Vittoria Air-Liners as they do such a decent job at protecting your rims from damage and dents. They're more useful for rocky and dry conditions but they still work a treat if you accidentally case a jump! It's a great bit of extra security to keep your bike running prime! 🙌
Yep, I ride an e bike ,so I don't think I'll ever go tubeless. I'll stick with slime inners. And I carry a puncture kit and pump etc in my riding backpack with a spare tube.
I find those twist on pumps as shown in the video at 3.00 take the valve core out when you undo them. Or have I been making a silly error in their application?
zippy tie...!!! zippy tie!!! who the hell calls it a zippy tie..?? The boys are bound to give you roasting for that.... but I do agree its a great dippy stick !!
So I've been driving around over 75kms from home with a spare tube and patches for nothing ..😮 If I change my tires to winter I have to fill them with sealant ? I just found out this summer that bikes were tubless so I'm new to them .
good question, did it work for you? because i tried it, and i think the sealant also ruins the patch glue :/ the last one i put in there was just floating in the sealant after a day's ride 😅
Hi James! It's all dependent on how much sealant you've filled your tyre up with. Next time you top your sealant up, measure how much you put in, and then work out how much you've lost when you've been out riding! Another top tip is to compare the sealant levels with your other wheel. 👍
I suppose there is a reason for not showing how the tyre is removed from the rim 😉 In my experience, it is a pain to put on and take off a tubeless tyre, especially when you are not at home. So for me, there's not this big advantage of the tubeless tyres compared to the tyres with the inner tube. The nasty sealing fluid makes things even worse.
Using a tire boot as a permanent tubeless fix for a decent sized slash is absolutely useless. You need to sew the tire with burly thread, or better yet, fishing line. Then super glue inside and out, then use a proper butyl patch with the cement. Re-do the sealant and it's an actual "permanent" (life of the tire) fix.
thanks for this! i think this is what im looking for, a "butyl patch". because i tried classic patches and they just get un-glued, i think the sealant also ruins the patch glue :/ the last one i put in there was just floating in the sealant after a day's ride 😅
@@Ris-v4w just so you know, the patches im referring to are the old school ones you use on tubes. You have to clean the sealant off the tire really well, then make sure the vulcanizing fluid is dry but tacky. Then stick your patch and it will last a long time.
Everything functions properly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of RUclips. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
My Minions are leaking sealent and it looks like they are crying….. drop by drop all the way around the wall, didnt find and punctures…..any coments? Tnx.
Have you got a puncture story from recently? Are your tyres set up tubeless or tubes?
If you haven't already you all should do a trail side fix for someone with cushcore inserts and it having a flat or some scenario.
Stop regurgitating the same videos multiple times.

Super helpful. I am a recent convert to tubeless (bought a used bike) and prepping for my first long ride on them.

I think I'll just stick to tubes :) I've never heard of tyre boots before, I will be getting some of those!
Good detail and great intro into fixing our first tubeless puncture.
nothing like watching gmbn after a long day of school
Thanks for the support, Jacques! What a perfect end to the day! 🙌

Running tubes but will deffo be going tubeless..thx for the tips!!

Can you do an an episode "how to avoid punctures in the first place?"
excellent vid here....thank you for the terrific content
Very interesting useful cheers guys on tuneless tyes class👍

If you run cushcore, is there a test to check how much sealant you have other than the dipstick test or taking the tire off?

For us new to the hobby the videos you guys put out are awesome, much appreciated. What do you guys think about air-liners like Vittoria for example?
there a must have for me, they don't stop rim dents but they make them much rarer, plus there light and easy to install for me.
@@robbieroscoe3078 appreciate your input, I’ll be giving them a try.

A regular patch from the inside also works?

I have a puncture from a thorn and it didnt seal, can i put sealant in now its flat and pump it up or does it need to be changed?
How deep should the sealant be on the ‘dipstick’

my biggest punctures are them darn goat heads and I run tubes. killed many tubes over this last summer.
What about if you don’t have your trusty pump with you? Recommendation on a pump you can carry that’s not a full Co2 cartridge
Are the rims double walled?
I hate when I'm patching a tyer and while I'm fixing it I spill milk into it.
What a pain in the arse! Recently bought a used 29er with tubeless...first thing I did? Put tubes in it...done 🤣

True! 😫
Pucture
Had a piece of shatter proof glass go through my tyre once and completely tore up my rim tape, no chance of fixing that!
Apply new rim tape?

The bead of the tyre need a fair bit of air to pop it on, I had to use a compressor on one that was troublesome new 29x3.0 on 50mm rim

Tire is beaded as it should be, sealent is leaking thru the tire, in the middle of sidewall
Must be something wrong with tyres shouldn’t be doing that
Hi
👋
I hate puctures.
Same! 😫
So basically if it's bad enough, you just go back to using a tube until you can get it home and fix everything?
thus nullifying the weight saving benefit of going tubeless in the first place!
@@rouxenophobe yeah, you'll be riding with 200 extra grams on your wheel until you get home. That's unacceptable.
@@vangos154 It is unacceptable, because you have to carry that extra tube with you!
