This ship is a perfect combination of modern cruise ship and old ocean liner's It is made to travel through serious storms unlike modern cruise that get rescheduled if the climate is not close to ideal Even it's appearance is not too box shaped, thus making it look more like a ship than a floating hotel
Other modern ships are more than capable of traveling through adverse weather conditions. Every cruise ship makes transatlantic and transpacific journeys multiple times throughout their lives. The reason they re-route during pleasure cruises is for the passenger experience. No one wants to pay for a cruise vacation and be tossed around like a bean bag and be forced to stay indoors.
@@sbeve6559 You've missed the point. QM2 makes Atlantic crossings in appalling conditions *without* compromising passenger comfort and with absolutely no need to reschedule. Why not Berengaria? Or Majestic? Or Olympic? What particular aspects made you think of that particular White Star liner, rather than a more similar Cunard ship? As Titanic’s sister ship Olympic was in service for many years, wouldn’t you naturally think of RMS Olympic rather than the one-crossing RMS Titanic? Wouldn’t this video make you think mote of Cunard Line’s QE2 because of the much greater similarity?

Thank you for sharing this very nice clip! As a nearly 6 yr old back in 1972, we sailed with the "SS France" from N.Y. - LeHavre, France then back again ~2 months later. I have vague memories of the two trips, and would love to give the Q.M.2 a go with my girlfriend 😊😊
a great way to travel. if you think only rich can afford this ship, price out a stay in a 3-4 hotel, with meals, plus the airfare to New York. Oh yes, I was on this crossing; it was unfortunate that a passenger had to be evaculated.
Here's hoping the wife and I can save up enough money for a NYC to Southampton trip, spend a week in Europe, then fly back for our 10th anniversary 2 1/2 years from now
suggestion: fly first, spend your week in Europe, *then* go back on the QM2. eastbound crossings are nice, i’d imagine. but the westbound crossing is something special. :)
I first took this trip in November 1982, on the Queen Elizabeth 2. There was a special Boat Train from London Waterloo that went nonstop directly to the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal. It used the tracks you can briefly see in the foreground. We walked from the train directly onto the ship, and the tagged luggage we put into the baggage van at London Waterloo was taken directly to our room. In 2005 we took the Queen Mary 2 eastbound, and noted that the tracks at the Southampton terminal were no longer used. Too bad.
And go swimming in the pool, of course. Oh, and see a film - we saw two, both new releases we'd wanted to see. And visit the library - great selection, spent hours there. The lectures were good. Also enjoyed the stand-up comedy show, he was great! Did the heritage trail with the kids, and went shopping. Caught the planetarium show too. Didn't fancy the gym, but had spa treatments. Coupled with just gazing at the Atlantic and relaxing, it's the only way to cross -0 getting there is half the fun...
Definitely a cruise for the more experienced cruiser! No port days ("you're stuck in a 8x12' cell" as someone below put it), 'nothing to do' (no water slides or zip-lines), too many format nights (can't wear shorts, flip flops and Hawaiian shirts all the time). However, I for one am glad this more traditional experience is still available for those who would truly enjoy it.
It’s not a cruise, it’s a crossing, for anyone who needs to travel between Europe and the USA. Formal nights are optional, you can use the self service restaurant if you like. We were bound for Canada this time, a few years ago we were bound from London to Los Angeles.
I have cruised on her a couple of times and I loved it. The only true liner remaining. Now that the UK is dropping entrance covid restrictions for vaccinated foreigners, it’s a nice time to get on her on the transatlantic run. Thanks for the idea.

Great video. I'm surprised just how stable the ship is ( or appears to be, looking at the drinks ), even in mid Atlantic.
Much greater stability than your average cruise ship, it is billed as the world's only ocean-going liner.
Did anyone else end up getting hungry before the very end, or was I the only one?
Made the trip in 2014. Rain followed us for 10 days. I was in my 60’s and most of the passengers were in their 70’s and 80’s.
You are very beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, I wish you all the best this year, how is the weather over there now
This ship is a perfect combination of modern cruise ship and old ocean liner's
It is made to travel through serious storms unlike modern cruise that get rescheduled if the climate is not close to ideal
Even it's appearance is not too box shaped, thus making it look more like a ship than a floating hotel
it is not a cruise ship it is a ocean liner. There is a great difference.
@@dlgregory35 yes
Other modern ships are more than capable of traveling through adverse weather conditions. Every cruise ship makes transatlantic and transpacific journeys multiple times throughout their lives. The reason they re-route during pleasure cruises is for the passenger experience. No one wants to pay for a cruise vacation and be tossed around like a bean bag and be forced to stay indoors.
@@sbeve6559 You've missed the point. QM2 makes Atlantic crossings in appalling conditions *without* compromising passenger comfort and with absolutely no need to reschedule. I made a crossing from NYC to Southampton with 3 solid days of force 8 and twenty foot swell. We weren't allowed outdoors but from the inside we wondered what all the fuss was about as the ship sailed serenely on as though she were on a millpond.
is all the food and drink included including alcohol? Oro do you just pay for each thing individually? Never likes the thought of a cruise but this looks really nice!
Food and drinks are included , not alcohol or soda pop, just coffee , tea and juices
Why do people who make these videos think we always want to see restaurants and bars etc when they're empty. We want to see them being real, with people in them enjoying themselves.
I was on this ship with my wife a few years ago. I won US$800 at the casino table.
Yes. I have travel with Queen Merry
From Athens to Melbourne. I was

Left Πειαρεας Αθήνα just after Christmas 🎄 we had New Years

Won’t forget.
To Melbourne we stopped.
Beautiful experience I won’t forget
Love you Australia 🇦🇺 🇬🇷
Absolutely stunning. Thank you for bringing this to us.
Did you run into Mrs. Bucket?
What an amazing video.
I love this channel. Keep up the good work.
My Dad worked in the engine room on the Queen Mary... Before he passed away he said he would of liked to sail on Queen Mary 2 as a passenger.
@Marjo The stories he told about the QM were amazing...Sadly he never got to sail on the QM2.
Marjo. Maybe one day go to the states and visit the Queen Mary in dry dock.🤞
You are very beautiful woman with a beautiful smile, I wish you all the best this year, how is the weather over there now
Spent 44 years at sea, 19 travelling the World, 25 in UK waters. Want to do this trip some day hopefully with sunny weather.
WOW. That was the fastest sail ever. Took less than ELEVEN MINUTES TO GET FROM LONDON TO NY. I am impressed. SPEEDY. SPEEDY.
I'm surprised he managed so many meals!
@@charlesmcguffy Lol ..GOOD ONE. LOL.
Great video, no inane music and very well edited. Thank you.
God I’d love to do that! Another awesome experience for my bucket list!
Beautiful! I’ll be onboard in December, can’t wait! ❤️ 🚢
Hi Jonny, probably see you on board,me and my friend are also going in December.
There are many gay sailors on board who will bum you for a small fee.
Thinking of titanic during whole video
Why not Berengaria? Or Majestic? Or Olympic? What particular aspects made you think of that particular White Star liner, rather than a more similar Cunard ship? As Titanic’s sister ship Olympic was in service for many years, wouldn’t you naturally think of RMS Olympic rather than the one-crossing RMS Titanic? Wouldn’t this video make you think mote of Cunard Line’s QE2 because of the much greater similarity?
Experienced flashbacks when they arrived in New York.
The Man in Seat 61 because the average Joe on RUclips will not be well versed in the world of Ocean liners ?? If your gonna put your videos online you’ve got to realise that for the average member of the general public, a ship crossing from the UK to New York will automatically conjure up images of the Titanic. It is for those who do not follow the world of Cruise liners the main point of reference.
@@derry9313 Quite! It's just very sad that Titanic is their only (very out of date) point of reference for sea travel, and the poists get tedious. Do I go round videos of "Review of business class on United Airlines' and post "Ha, reminds me of MH370!" ;0)
@@seat61 because titanic met a tragic end there r so many poor souls who dreamed a new life in America they all have wish to see this tower of liberty at the end of their journey but unfortunately they didn't.
Looks like RMS Titanic :v
Better WiFi on this ship.
@Karamjeet Grewal dammnnnnn u a savageeeeee
@Karamjeet Grewal in my country men get put in prison for hitting women don’t try me 😘
@Karamjeet Grewal how was E L being racist to you?
@Karamjeet Grewal
Everything is racist to everyone these days. Now go be a little savage and go to bed now
£1200 per person is more than reasonable and beats flying any day.
Not forgetting the eye watering add ons!
We did it for like $900 each in late April 2022.
That's what I'm thinking. It's actually not that much than flying, but way more relaxing and becomes a good part of your vacation itself in that it covers accommodation multiple nights and I believe much of your food (not sure which food options are included in the price and which aren't).
Last ocean liner out there, last ocean liner to make that classic Atlantic crossing from London to New York. Too bad im too poor to ever be able to sail on it
Very reasonable $1400 for an outside cabin as long as it double occupancy. Inside cabins a little less
Life before Corona
Very nicely put together video. Really great quality. Thank you for NOT adding music! I'd have liked to see a sunrise or sunset, and the stars too though.
Please do more videos like this. They are absolutely awesome.
Very nice, thank you! And the best part...no jerky camera moves. It's refreshing to see someone who knows how to handle a video camera.
Thank you for sharing this very nice clip! As a nearly 6 yr old back in 1972, we sailed with the "SS France" from N.Y. - LeHavre, France then back again ~2 months later. I have vague memories of the two trips, and would love to give the Q.M.2 a go with my girlfriend 😊😊
brilliant video! i do prefer to hear the natural sound of things instead of being dubbed over.
Did this several years ago- would so do it again.... loved the planetarium.
Did you run into Hyacinth Bucket by any chance 😂😂
Considering this is something I will probably never get to do, outstanding synopsis.
Jay, I took a short trip from NYC to Halifax Canada;
with 1 stop in Boston, over 4th of July holiday.
It wasn't very expensive, check it out.
Never say never!
a great way to travel. if you think only rich can afford this ship, price out a stay in a 3-4 hotel, with meals, plus the airfare to New York. Oh yes, I was on this crossing; it was unfortunate that a passenger had to be evaculated.
I did this trip in 2016. Put it on your bucket list don't die and have not done this. Remember it for as long as I live. Great trip
It's amazing thinking how many peolple in '900 arrived by sea with many dreams for a better life.
@Ber P. I know...
@Commentor1 ....Nor as peaceful as them themselfs that raped and pillaged and stole it from the natives before then!
That this starts in precisely the same way as one of your railway jaunts is testimony to your integrity. Your kids are so good, too.
I would prefer daytime arrival to NY. People onboard took thousands of grainy bad photos upon their night time arrival to NY
Too bad.
Eat, look at the sea, eat, look at the sea... Repeat to fade.
@@seat61 shopping!!, You didn't show us that in the video
@@seat61 Each to their own, was a great video fella keep em up
Definitely a cruise for the more experienced cruiser!
@@seat61 Thank you for pointing out the distinction!
BTW I was satirising the people who were leaving "this is boring" comments 😂
Some people can entertain themselves others need to be entertained.
I have cruised on her a couple of times and I loved it. The only true liner remaining. Now that the UK is dropping entrance covid restrictions for vaccinated foreigners, it’s a nice time to get on her on the transatlantic run. Thanks for the idea.
Did you meet Jack & rose Dawson?
Was lovely to see...Thank You for uploading...
