- Dominican barbers are famous in New York City. I decided to go to the source. I went to Boca Chica, Dominican Republic to the small cozy D Luis Barbershop.
I ordered a straight razor beard trim and eye brow shaping from Carlos.
Carlos is a 24 year old barber, who used a shavette, straight razor, and a scissors on my beard. This barber is a true artist.
Some people may appreciate the scissors and razor sound as ASMR.
Cost: 100 Pesos ($1.89 USD)
I gave 200 Pesos.

Two cool stories happened here:
1. The guy who entered in the middle of the video wanted to cut his dreads but the two barbers changed his mind.
2. The mother of the barbers child was on the phone asking him to go for the child.
Bonus: The service you got it's called "Cerquillos" and the price was right at about 100 DOPs

I was impressed. And I like his honesty on the price. I went to maybe 10 barbers and asked prices. The price was from 150 Pesos and up to $50. I told that guy it is cheaper in NYC. Lol.

But when it comes to true evil, like sociopathic serial killers, they’re extremely rare. Go look at the statistics on crime. The chances that you’ll be a victim of a violent crime are really low. I understand why you feel the way you do. It’s a result of human negativity bias. Evolution has programmed us to remember negative experiences much more vividly than good experiences. It’s what led to our survival. I work in hospitality and some employees will say, I hate people. Everyone is such an asshole. But then when they think about it, they’ll realize that they’ve dealt with fifty customers in the last three hours and all of them were pleasant. Yet, if they have one bad interaction, it’ll ruin their day. It’s human nature to put more emphasis on the bad than the good. But the statistics don’t support our conclusions that the world is full of bad and evil people.

I like to come back to this video a lot. This guy (Carlos?) should get together with Isaac from Erik's Barbershop in Denver and start a shop together. Both those guys were phenomenal. Watching them work is like watching Michael Jordan in his prime with the Bulls. Perfectionists who are so in-tune with what they are doing that they have become naturally flawless in execution.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, i can tell you with arrogant assurance that dominican and puertorican barbers have the steadiest hands when it comes down to the cerquillo (lineup with razorblade). There’s levels and i would be this guy’s regular. I miss both of my homes

My barber (Mario)in Miami is Cuban, I had a gf, who was a stylist and charged alot of money for her service..It would cause a fight, everytime, when I told her I preferred my old school barber, (razor shave too), that I've been going to for 20 years now.
Mario told me his dad was a barber back in Cuba as well.
