100% agree. When I saw the caption & saw that beautiful clear water I realized how easily the fish will see the angler in that stream. The fish may not re-set to where it was for a long time.
I love fly fishing, been doing since my grandfather took me 35 years ago. I find it hilarious how people get so kitted out to catch fish. Effing hilarious.
I mean I know these guides take you out pretty far, but my shoulder is already screaming looking at the size of that sling bag. I'll take a backpack, please.
It's a waist bag with supplementary shoulder strap. Might not be as bad as you think. That being said (unless this is actually comfortable) I'd always choose a dedicated backpack for something that big
@@YourFeatheryFriendthe sling packs and hip packs make it easier to access them in the water instead of having to fiddle with taking your back pack off in the middle of the river

that's a gorgeous location, I know how frustrating that is the amount of times it's happened you see it take the fly you strike and he spits the hook 🪝
G'day mate, that's some beautiful clear water. To be able to see fish like that is amazing. I really enjoy watching your posts. Keep up the great work 👍 Cheers 🍻
@@lenny108 when fishermen buy fishing licenses it goes to fish farms that raise and release fish by the millions. There are enough regulations when it comes to fishing. Fishing is a favorite past time for many many people. Its relaxing, fun, and a freezer filler. Some people dont even keep their fish. They strictly catch and release. Hey mate, what are you looking for when calling a strike like that? How do you know it’s eaten your nymph? Couldn’t tell if you had a dry on there or not. Just curious as it’s so hard to tell if they actually have eaten or not sometimes
You’re right it is hard to see the eat sometimes. A lot of the time you are just watching the fish and its movements as your fly drifts past them. Just a single nymph in this case so it’s very much guesstimating and making a call based on what you are seeing…🤷♂️
@@iancolvin7953 Sooooo, as he is drifting his fly he doesn't strip in the slack so that the current doesn't catch it and cause the fly to speed up unnaturally? Ok, Lefty.
I messed with a brook trout for a hour a few weekends ago. Was in a small creek about 6-12inches deep thing was sitting in a pool. Ate three times. Came off all three times and then did the same thing. Just floated down the creek
I've only been fly fishing for a few years but I see the problem here. You're fishing with the wrong hand, switch to your right and all your problems will go away😉
@Trippin On Trout agreed but most hit callers jump the gun and you miss more than just feeling it out dragging the fly/streamer tight lined through the pocket
@@highkey_steeze like in this video. The guy pulled the trigger too fast or pulled the dry fly out of the fish's mouth. Once you do this that fish isn't coming back. Hence the term he burned the fish. It's just a fly fishing term we use around my neck of the woods ( Eastern Canada).

Terrible line management. Unless you’re local (I’m presuming NZ), it costs a lot of money to get into that situation (travel, gear, guide, time). All of that is wasted if you haven’t learned to fish. But if you’re having fun, whatever. Just tip your guide well.
You blew him up. Dang fish. Easy to do on clear water like that and even harder on bright sky days. Thanks for all your vids, brother. Look me up when you get to Colorado
@@TrippinOnTrout I'm serious. We have great fly fishing in Colorado. I used to fish about 100 days a year all over the place for many years. I made better money back then. Not as much fishing now. Plus, it's gotten super crowded unless you're on stillwater. Anyway, I would love to take you around and put you on some nice fish here 😊
Cameraman called for the hook set before it ate
Every fly fishing video should be like this. Sight casting to feeding fish, hit or miss, doesn’t matter. RUclips gold…
It's why they call it fishing not catching 🤣 it's still better than a good day at work 👍👍

Our rivers, streams and lakes have so few fish that this should be banned. Fishing should be completely forbidden.

Get the slack out and follow the drift or use a strike indicator, float that shallow id run a hopper , bug combo
