It's NEW Super Mario Bros. It definitely feels great. The animations just add so much to the game. I get why they went the way they did with NSMB, but you can finally see the passion the developers are putting into Mario.
I would be very surprised if Mario Wonder does more for me than 3D World did. Every time I'm reminded that Mario Wonder is out, I think about how I haven't done a 4-player online playthrough of 3D World yet and I just want to go back and play that some more.
I had the exact same green checkmark moment in world 1 That hidden exit in 1-2 had me hunting for too long...then I realized oh Mario without time limit is better!? I dont feel this is as big as a leap over other 2D marios of the last 20 years As some people do But I do enjoy the new ideas and presentation a lot. I just dont feel the jumps you or others describe 🤷♂️ NSMBDS and even U gave me similar vibes with certain levels/gimmicks. Again I am loving Wonder but Mario Maker levels gave me similar WOAH moments and creativity 🤔 I dunno, other mario games had hidden/bonus worlds and even U did play with the World Map I feel weird...I am not trying to bring others down and I legit love this Maybe I simply feel NSMB or Mario Maker or even 3D Land/World dont get enough love or hated on too much But just dont feel the same massive leap I have to be fair, cause I have a long way to go. I tend to savior these games and only do a few levels per day, but it was hard limiting that, cause it has a great ohhh I wonder whats next vibe. Only other "big" gripe is some of the music is disapointing while others are all time bangers I do LOVE the talking flowers except...they repeat lines as you cross back and a few too many go "Well...that was something" So yeah overall its a 9/10 experience for me so far. I think it wont hit 1, 3, World, 64, Galaxy 1,2 , 3D World tier for me but still its very awesome. Presentation value 🥰 Looking forward to starting a co op campaign this week on stream 😁 Wanna see how that feels
As I made it into world 3 The NPC's being too chatty was starting to get to me Plus a few bad levels showed up For example Search Party An Empty Park? Is a bad amateur Mario Maker level 🥴 Still having loads of fun mostly but certainly not all levels or Wonder Seeds are created equal
The answer to the question posed in the thumbnail is absolutely no. There are many better Mario games including both Galaxy games, Oddysey, SMB3, SMW, Mario 3d land, Mario 3d World. Donkey Kong '94 (if that counts). It doesn't serve Nintendo that well to be showered with such praise. Is this game better than Rayman Legends? Maaaaybe, Maybe not.
