Can you turn a picture into a 3D scene with Cinema 4D? Of course! All you need is to follow the simple instructions of this tutorial about projection mapping (or camera mapping) and the Maxon Projection Man tool!
that camera callibration just blown my head off..thanks mate! im new with C4D and that is very useful.
+Hasyif Hamzah You are truly welcome and I am extremely happy to know that my tutorial was helpful!
Who else is here from Ian Hubert but doesn’t use blender lol
Me XD
same
Same. Blender looks incredible, but also incredibly complicated, and my brain is almost out of free space.
same :D
Consistent tutorial. Grazie ! Really pedagogical, pretty rare to find tutors like that. ;o) Awesome work also on the video preparation. Didactical and clear with a tint of humour. Finally, the flying pig is top notch!! Great stuff. Very consistent.
+Pino CAZZETTA I'm extremely flattered Pino. I really appreciate your comment :)
I've seen a lot of your tutorials, you have great energy and tone for keeping the viewer engaged. Keep it up! ;)
Thanks a Lot w00w00y! I really appreciate your comment :)
Wow, that's a really cool technique, the camera movement looks pretty convincing. At first I thought this was a tut on how to use C4D for projection mapping with a real projector, but this is pretty cool too :)
Thanks for the tips
Nice video, straight to the point and amusing. Thanks!
LOVE IT
Im so glad I stumbled on your channel!
Wow!

You are welcome NightHawk!

Amazing! Do you have a tut on how to make the ballon flying pig tied by those ropes please?
how did you change the lighting?
I like it
Thanks!!
hey man, very useful. could you maybe make a projection mapping + toturial of mountains too?
+Kaisessie It is exactly the same workflow :)
YO ... this tool is simply "ossooooom" ;)
luca giobbe Grazie Lucaaaaaaa!!
Where did you find the image
Any ideas on where I can find and hire a professional person to 3-D map of venue for an event?
you''re the best i love you
+Watch Plus Oh 'cmon, I'm shy! :D
NICE TUTORIAL!!! Anyone know of more PROJECTION MAN tutorials?
i wanna see a footage with a screen green real person of flesh and bones instead of the pig, how do you do that, if i record a person in a green screen and then put it in the camera mapping background. pls tutorial.
subbed!
Man, you are awesome! This tutorial, definitely, is too helpfull. The mic doesn't convince me enough, but it's okey.
Keep doing this!
The Rat
TheRat I have a new Mic :D
Wow!!!
Thanks!!!
how would you convert it to a model textured
sick!
Hi, nice tutorial ;) but it would be even better if you could provide us the photo of this warehouse so we could be able to try the same thing as you do :))) thank you in advance ;)
I keep getting grey geometry around my png's. Anyone know how to fix this? (I did everything as shown on the video.. the image is projected onto the mesh.. but when i render it is not transparent on the areas it should be) Please help!
can you teach photoshop please
"here you have to drag ... " what ? i don't see, and i don't understand what you're dragging onto the camera ...
which C4D program is used for this i didnt want to buy the wrong one there's like 4-5 different products.
+Stuart Brown I use Cinema 4D R16 Studio Version
i laughed so much thanks :D
+Jelena Radisavljevic seriously? :D
yes but that doesnt mean that you are funny :D because i love stupid humor.thanks for great tutorial
So we are on the same page :D
What if I wanted to do that with a video???
Excellent tutorial! Thank you.
Two Questions (if you could be so kind as to give some advice)
- How do I know where to accurately "drop pin"?
- When I enter "known length" on a new line, I thought it would scale correctly. But when I import an object with specific dimensions, the scale seems noticeably off.
Can you help?
Thank you very much.
+ReardonDesign Accurately, as far as I know, is not part of the workflow. The drop pin should go as close as possible to where you want you center to be. Concerning the scale, try to check your whole project scale, maybe there is where the problem lies.
Awesome tutorial! Thank you! One question: is it possible to projection map a video? Relatively fixed camera but with moving elements? In other words have animated textures. For example a swinging lamp: wall in the background animates lighting effects....(for example)
Hey Mario thnx for the great tutorial, i have a question regarding shadow casting when camera mapping i seem to understand and do everything right till the last part i cant quiet cast shadows from objects even after i added a floor and a composting tag in the previous tutorial i manged to get the shadows but not the same in here also tried to move texture from luminance to color channel but the floor went dark any help would be appreciated thnx again
+yoyo blaze If you use a luminance channel you will get no shadows. If you use the color channel it will be subject to the default light or any light you will add in the scene... try to use it but to add the compositing tag option "compositing background". Another option, not the fastest but probably the best is to do a multipass render and do the compositing work in After Effects or Photoshop. This tutorial might be interesting: Object Buffers from Cinema 4D in Photoshop
I saw this. Thanks ^_^
can we do camera projection on a video instead of an a single image ?
yes, though you can't fly freely around the scene if there's camera movement. They do it all the time for set extensions though.
Hi!good tutorial!!
What kind of lights you used for the ceiling? Thanks
you could use a spot light or an area light.. just adjust the height and brightness. Area lights close to the ground, set invisible to the camera would probably give you a long rectangular light like in this video the best.
Hi- what do you use for DOF? I'm strunggling with depth of field in cinema..
+Graham Higgins In this example I have exported a depth pass from cinema and applied in After Effects using the FRISCHLUFT plugin. Otherwise here's my tutorial to handle Depth of Field in Cinema 4D :)
ruclips.net/video/-EAk5xKqdsk/видео.html
Hi, do you get the edge blur problem with your depth pass? I find the depth multi pass useless in Cinema 4D. Graham
if I push the dof too much I get that problem too, yes.
I would have much rather a long tutorial showing the sped up pieces that a short video that doesn't allow me to grasp the in-between steps for this particular tutorial.
renderdreality I understand :) But then you need a modelling tutorial and a photoshop object removal one. If you can't model and can't use Photoshop, maybe is too soon for Projection mapping :)
ok tutorial, but i don't think this technique is called "projection mapping"
Great buddy .... Just Awesome ..(y)
+sandeepan sarkar Thanks pal! :D
Hi buddy .. Im looking For a tsunami tutorial In C4D .. can u help me out ? of course There are other troubles too :P .... 2nd - importing animation in a downloaded Model :P :P .. 3rd- the free downloadble animation website ( im toooo bad in animating ) :D :D .... shall i go on wid my problem list.. if u allow me ?? ?? :P :P
+sandeepan sarkar Hi! 1: Sorry, I don't even know what tsunami is... 2: Copy and paste from one project to another? 3: 3D animations? Try 3docean.net :)
Lollz .. sorry pal .. tsunami is giant sea wave ... generally caused by earthquake .. as shown in 2012, san andreas etc etc ....
2. max giving us a opportunity to import animation pack in any rigged model .. does C4D do ? if it does , then how ?
+sandeepan sarkar The best solution that I know to exchange files is the FBX file format, that maintains textures, bones and animations :)
what makes you fucking think im watching this in a car lmao!!!
