Good explanation, but I wish both the shirt and the tie had been better ironed. Also, I completely disagree with the idea that a bow tie 'should not look like it's a clip-on.' This implies that the self-tie bow tie should be slightly imperfect, whereas the whole pleasure of tying your own bow tie is to see how close you can get it to perfection! (And anyone with half a brain can tell a clip-on from the perfectly tied self-tied tie.)
Tying a bow tie is a mildly interesting hobby. Enjoy it!
