As French Canadian Catholics, we grew up in a very Medieval Church. My ancestors went to Canada long before the French Revolution, 1603 and 1604, but we all honored St Joan because the war for the Church never ended. Many French fled the French Revolution which may be why so many of our families were devastated by Vat 2.
Very interesting remark:
Devastated and decimated by apostasy. As a Quebecer, it breaks my heart.
My ancestors came over in the 1660s to Canada, for about 50 years, they reverted to the reform religion, which was Calvinism thankfully, some of them returned, which was my ancestor.

It is important to note that the Men of the Vendee had their revenge on the Revolution. When Napoleon got off Elba and retook power, the men of the Vendee rose in rebellion. Napoleon was forced to send 10,000 French soldiers to the Vendee to put down the rebellion. As a result they were not present at the Battle of Waterloo where they very well could have prevented Napoleon's defeat and turned the tide of battle. Pay back's a bitch!
Napoleon converted to Catholicism in the end. Thanks to him losing, the free Masonic British empire managed to have dominion on Europe and the world for nearly 100 years.
Which of course led to the First World War. So really, we’d have been better off if Napoleon had won at Waterloo.

The leaders and men of the Vendée insurrection of 1815 were not pro-Napoleon for sure but they were even less pro-foreign powers.

The French “ Broussard’s and to many others to note here of the Acadians that were exiled by the English from the Nova Scotia/ Port Royal areas knew all too well the philosophy of thought that lead to the revolution. They left France for religious freedom. They were all from the western French areas that were fighting for their beloved Catholic Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Now all over the USA but prominently in southern Louisiana. They often spoke of the family members that were lost due to the Vendee massacred.
Wow. I never understood why my ancestors would leave France for frozen Canada. Love of holy mother church must be baked into the DNA.
So grateful for this important film, Thank you.
The EWTN cable TV once offered a Vendee scapular if one sent a request (maybe online request, I forget). I sent in a request and received the scapular in the mail. This was quite a few years ago, before Hurricane Sandy.

What a valiant film in the name of Jesus Christ. It also reminds me of the ordinary villagers in Mexico in the early 1900s who also gave their lives for Jesus Christ and his Church on Earth. I believe we are on the same path again only this time Satan has been smarter in convincing so many that they do not have to fight for Christ because he just forgives no matter what. It has always been the few that fight and i have no reason to believe that it will be any different going forward. Viva Christo Rey

Viva Cristo Rey. I have watched the movie 🎥 about what happened in Mexico in the early 1900's a bought a DVD movie. I learned about it in 2020 from Father James Altman I think if I am not mistaken, I think that the second time I heard about it was from Father Mark Goring. Christ forgives, the problem is that we do not forgive, not even ourselves.. repentance is that, feeling the effects of sin so deeply, that we feel charity for the sinner (us) afflicted by the misery it brings, and we ask Christ to free him (us) from that slavery. It is this charity (a grace from God) and the voluntary surrender of our will to Christ that make it possible for us to forgive. Repentance and forgiveness are inextricably linked in our human nature ..

It reminds me of the resistance in my homeland Slovenia, during and after the WW2, when the communist revolution was being carried out. Ordinary people from the villages stood up against the partisan terror and fought for their faith. They called themselves 'Domobranci' [home defenders] and were all massacred after the war including their wives and children. My homeland is full of mass graves of martyrs who died for God and country. According to some estimates, more than 100,000 out of a population of 1,500,000 at that time were killed. Long live Christ the King!

It might have been for this reason that my Slovenian grandparents (who came to the US through Ellis Island) hated the Serbs. I never asked why, but I do recall when I was a child, that my grandfather spoke about this. @@krneki82

One more thing to note is that the fact that the left wing radical government of the french revolution had banned Christianity and started a cult of reason which worshipped man and secularism and then went to persecute anyone who was religious or did not believe in the cult of reason as traitors to the revolution. Another reason why the populace did not revolt when Napoleon took power was because of the fact that he promised to restore the church and ban the cult of reason and secularism. Although before the revolution the churches of france was corrupt, it did not justify the mass persecution of the Christians by the so called secular and rational intellectuals of the revolution.

I am a stright down the line V2 Catholic and I very much thank you for bringing this film to my attention. Seems to me it is about faithful Catholics - traditional only in the sense that they practiced the mainstream catholicism of the time. Some Catholics had capitulated with the revolutionaries. The Pope had stood agaist the revolutionaries and the Catholics of the Vendee were in full communion with him as they resisted the persecution.
Nice try, but no cigar. The Vendeeans were very devoted,not just to the, " mainstream Church," but to the Sacre Couer, the Sacred of Jesus, whose devotion was revealed and born in France. The emblem of the Sacred Heart was sewn onto their uniforms and emblazed on their flags and banners. VII and the Novus Ordo it spawned, diminished and de-emphasized, many traditional Catholic devotions, with the Sacred Heart being one of them. Viewing this movie through the lens of a dubious and controversial council, presents an uneasy and awkward fit, like someone wearing the shoe box instead of the shoes.
V2 Catholics are heretics.
Let’s not be coy… V2 borrows heavily from the ideas of the French Revolution. Traditional in the sense they defended the Catholic way of life against those who sought to destroy the faith.

Jesus did not take up arms; He laid down His life for His enemies. We live in an evil world - May Jesus empower us to lay our lives down for our enemies.

Centuries before the Vendean Army rose up Catholics in Ireland were fighting , dying , suffering and being martyred for the Faith . The French are a wonderful Catholic Race but no , the Vendeans were not the original Traditional Catholics if you mean a people fighting for the Faith against a tyranny that sought to exterminate Christs Church .
There is no nation in history that has suffered and fought for the Catholic Faith as much as the Irish .
The French had a few great generations that fought for Christ .
In Ireland it was every generation for centuries .
In France noble men fought the enemies of God
In Ireland men women and children all fought , suffered and were martyred.
I believe that when we all ,hopefully, get to Heaven we will see that no nation produced as many Saints as the Irish
