Am torn, do I watch this modern American 'Shameless with bullets' type version or go back in time across the sea to when a razor in the cap could fuck you up just as much considering the slower ambulances...and the Xrays, if they were even invented yet, would probably give you cancer...Yeah', Ill come back to this one.

It' has John Turturro, Michael K. Williams, and others. A friend said 'it moves so slow', but he only watched one episode... it has so much of a New York vibe, it's worth it for that alone, but it's not too slow because it has great continuity and the scenes draw you in. I liked- Preacher too. Still, my preference for for a good series are the period pieces. Loved Boardwalk Empire and The Nick...and of course Peaky Blinders. Oh' yeah there is Mr. Robot to finish as well, but will get to the Peaky Blinders)

You know this is based on a true Australian story. The film was made about the same as Son of Anarchy roughly and then 6 years later, an American TV producers made it into a TV series with the original writer and director of the original movie.

in terms of the gritty australian beach life culture and attitude it does not compare...but with that being said its adapted to the american style of California which is different but similar to the australian surf culture..the series stands as its own the director for this really did base it almost the same as the film but portrayed it in a more american style with episodes filmed in what looks like part of mexico...which really brings it to its own because this is not australia it is american...i think the series is great... with a great cast...the main character jae could pass as an australian kid

Wish they made they show on Premium channels like Max or showtime but it was still awesome regardless. I had to buy the seasons from TNT and I’m glad I’ve seen it and feel bad for everyone who hasn’t because it’s not on Netflix :/ Also love the original Australian film. 😎
