  • Foxtel Hubbl streaming has created a stir in the Australian streaming TV scene. In this video, you'll get technology journalist Chris Stead's Foxtel Hubbl review in progress, and Hubbl Glass review in progress. I download everything I learned about how Hubbl works, the best Hubbl features, the obvious Hubbl problems, and more. This was gleaned from a lengthy hands-on, or should that be voice on, briefing session at Foxtel HQ with the executive directors of the product.
    It's not a Hubbl TV app, as many seem to think. Hubbl Foxtel is a UI accessed through two devices. How will Hubble TV streaming change our view habits. From Hubbl Binge to Hubbl Netflix. And we answer the question; is this Foxtel IQ6? It hopes to be the best TV streaming app in the world. And definitely the best streaming app Australia has to offer. And it could get even between when you're able to begin streaming games through Hubbl TV Foxtel.

    So it is basically a product to counter the fetch but with access to Foxtel services so potentially not really provider agnostic

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  8 месяцев назад

      In a way. You get all the different apps though, not just Foxtel ones.

      @@motivatedtravel I'm not at all invested in what people buy to watch TV, but I appreciate your review and the provided info. To be transparent, I've not tried Hubbl and have a fetch. I'm also not a fan of Foxtel, and I don't watch sports, so I don't need access to Kayo. To respond to your comment, I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'all the different apps'-I'm primarily referring more to subscription-based ones and extra channels because it's pretty much a given that a platform designed for the Australian market will have free-to-air streaming apps. It may change, but currently, as I said, their main point of difference is only their inclusion of Fotxel-specific content [Binge, Kayo, lifestyle and Flash]. In this respect, it will definitely appeal to the demographic that wants access to Kayo or Binge now-although I have read comments that Kayo, lifestyle & Binge may be appearing on Fetch in the future (but I don't know how true that is) potentially pushed by Telstra as part owner of Foxtel and majority owners of Fetch. I definitely see that those without Foxtel hangups who like sports will be attracted to the Hubbl Glass TV as a simple all-in-one option. But then, as a consumer, you'd have to walk into a Hardly Normal store to check it out ... strike two for me. Horses for courses I guess

    The GUI is awesome, What is your impression of the picture quality ? was there any discussion about calibration or a stand alone service with tech support. Thx

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  10 месяцев назад

      Solid from what I have seen thus far, but the 60Hz limit isn't that great. Haven't had a chance to look into calibratin as yet.

    Oh and are you able to go back on the guide and rewatch programs from app catchup (like the news) say a couple of hours later?

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  11 месяцев назад +1

      You can do anything that the apps you are subscribed to allow. So you go into the app and interact as you normally would. I have seen some catch-up quick-jumps from the Hubbly UI, so that's definitely possible.

    Great preview thanks. Re Kayo do you know if Hubbl will provide a better quality HD stream than the low bitrate 6.5mbps available through the Google/Apple TV Kayo apps?

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  11 месяцев назад +1

      So you just reminded me of something I forgot to talk about. Short answer is, assuming you're on the right plan, you'll get a 4K stream of Kayo.
      But even more interesting, is if you go to watch something that is on more than one provider (say Binge and Netflix) it will prioritise the provider with the best quality. So if you have 4K on Netflix, and HD on Binge, you'll get the Netflix version, unless you have a "continue watching" already happening on Binge. In which case you can choose.

      @@motivatedtravel thanks! Yes I’m looking forward to watching sports that are shown in 4K on Kayo. But I’m also interested in the many sports that are only available in HD on Kayo, and whether Hubbl will provide a higher bitrate HD stream than is available on other platforms. My main interest in the product is whether it delivers Foxtel type picture quality for sports, in both HD and 4K.

    I hate anything to do with with foxtel . Foxtel knows they a losing customers by the truck load so now they come with this to get customers back , because foxtel sucks

      Hi Neil. There are no live movie channels on Binge, but there are plenty of movies on the service on demand.
