  • It has been four years since the eruption of Mt. Ontake on September 27, 2014.
I was excluded from the candidates for mountain climbing because it was after the disaster.
However, this time, we received a recommendation from a person living in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, and planned to climb Mt. Ontake.
At the beginning of the plan, I was planning to climb the Kosakaguchi course on the Gifu prefecture side.
I made a reservation at the mountain lodge and was looking forward to it, but I canceled it twice because of the rain.
After that, the Kosakaguchi course was closed due to heavy summer rain.
We were worried that we might not have been called by Mt. Ontake, but we decided to climb from the direction of Kengamine where the eruption occurred.
As a result, I am glad that I could feel the current Mt. Ontake.
About 5 hours by car from Osaka.
Climb to the 7th station on the Mitake Ropeway.
From here, take the Kurosawaguchi course and climb in the direction of Kengamine.
The course time is 1 hour and 15 minutes to the 8th station Nyonindo.
I think I was able to climb up to this point without much delay.
However, the pace has dropped significantly from here.
I think the air is getting thinner because the altitude is high.
I climbed while taking a deep breath so as not to get altitude sickness.
Around the 9th station, it's like taking a few steps and taking a break.
At the 9th station of Kengamine, it was around 13:00 noon.
As of July 2018, it is not possible to climb the summit of Kengamine yet.
However, there are rumors that it will be released soon.
From the 9th station, walk toward Gonoike.
I would like to arrive at Gonoike Hut at 16:00 at the latest.
In the mountain climbing plan, Marici Tenzan was also planned to stop on the first day, but it is ridiculous.
It was 16:00 when I arrived at Gonoike Hut.
When I was climbing Kengamine, I was worried if I could reach the Gonoike hut, but it was good.
Gonoike hut was a very beautiful mountain hut.
We were tired and fell asleep, but there was also a menu using a wood stove, which was a place of relaxation for climbers.
The next day is a very sunny morning.
A wonderful sea of clouds welcomed me.
    I'm really impressed.
In the morning, we had a cake from Gero City.
    Thank you for everything.
Originally, we planned a circuit course from Mt. Stepko to the four ponds.
However, the shortcut on the way back is closed.
At our pace yesterday, I'm afraid I can't go home if I'm laid back.
I was thinking of giving up on Mt. Stepko, but the mountain lodge and climbers told me that I should just use the Mt. Stepko piston.
I am grateful for this advice as a result.
    Departure for Stepkodake.
In fine weather, walk on the ground floating in the sea of clouds.
I really feel like walking in the sky.
    It became an unforgettable memory.
There was a 360-degree view from Mt. Stepko.
I am happy to experience such a wonderful world.
Now I have to go back with a piston the way I walked yesterday.
The final time of the ropeway is 16:30.
Let's do our best and go home.
We are not good at descending mountains, so we always spend the same amount of time as climbing.
According to the calculation, the arrival at the ropeway platform will be 15:00.
What time will you arrive this time?
It's been a while since I started walking, and I'm in very good shape.
    The break will proceed moderately.
It is easy to go down from Kengamine because the stairs are moderately stepped.
It may have been the best in our downhill pace.
As a result, I arrived at Iimori Kogen Ropeway Station after 12:00 noon.
It's 3 hours shorter than planned.
It was a miraculous descent time.
If I could go down the mountain so quickly, I thought I should have gone around Mt. Stepko.
Anyway, I am grateful that I was able to descend safely.
Thank you for recommending Mt. Ontake.
I had a really good trip.
Finally, I pray from the bottom of my heart for the souls of those affected by the eruption.
I feel that my heart is tightened when I think that I was climbing with excitement like us on the day of the eruption.
