Seed isn't needed, let the grass grow in by itself. That's how most superintendents do it and that's how I've done it for decades. Greens heal in a week two at most, also if compaction is the main goal vertidrain is far better. I have that done from green to tee besides rough a week after aeration but I use smaller tines on the tees and fairways around 6 inches but 10 inch tines on greens. Root depth is 10 to 12 inches on A4 bentgrass greens, will be switching to 777 in late summer
Here'smytake , so is your recommendation to stop doing all maintenance on the golf course? We take a lot of care to get things cleaned up as quickly as possible so there is minimal impact on playability. If we simply did nothing, there wouldn't be much of a golf course left to enjoy.
You wouldn't have nice grass to play on without this. Believe us, the superintendents, this is needed and you can play on this for one week, it's only holes, we clean up the plugs
AMEN!
Actually, a superintendents favorite sight is seeing all the aeration equipment being put away until the next aeration 😂
