A lot of "rules" were broke here. NEVER EVER STOP a song and always have something on back up in case something does happen. If you have to stop a song fade it in to another. No more than 2 seconds of "dead air" play something anything small talk even, but never ever silence and among other don't make excuses for your stupidity.
I am a professional wedding DJ with 21 years experience. This is clearly a case of the "DJ's" being completely unprepared, Notice first - after the B&G hit the dance floor, the long pause, where the female "announcer" claims "technical difficulties." This COULD be excusable IF there were actual TECHNICAL problems ( we've all had them) BUT then the announcer comes on and says she "can't find the lyrics" to the song they were supposed to sing live. This is not a "technical" problem but a case of incompetence. Those lyrics should have been right in front of them before they even began the intros. Then they take forever to cue up the CD ( I truly get the feeling they were working with only ONE CD player) and then after they finally start that, STOP it, come back on mic and ADMIT their stupidity by saying "We found the lyrics, they were covered up by the tablecloth." And the Mother / Son dance: another case of pure incompetence. You can actually here them tracking through the CD LIVE ON AIR trying to find the right song. You can also hear them PLAY the right song, stop it, skip through a few more tracks then realize they had the right song EARLIER and finally play it. Pure incompetence.
These are supposed to be moments that make lifelong memories. I would have flipped out if this happened at my wedding. So glad we hired a professional!

I just got married and had a similar experience. It ruined my entire wedding and I'm struggling emotionally to deal with it since it's a once in a lifetime event. I'm wondering what kind of compensation this bride and groom got and if they were as troubled as I am over the disaster. I never even got a bouquet or garter toss. The Father/Daughter dance was played when my dad and I were the ONLY people in the ballroom, besides the DJ. Felt SO awkward! The DJ didn't play a single song on our music list and the music he did play was terrible. My First Dance was just like the one seen here...waiting for the right music to get sorted out. And the surprise duet we were supposed to gracefully go into singing right after being announced was the same way...wrong music, wrong music. Delay. Loud feedback. Eventually, getting it right. He never provided the second setup we requested for dinner music and for the speeches, so none of those went well either. It was a total fail. I'm devastated.

I don't even recognize the melody of the first instrumental they played! I really enjoy listening to the dishes being clinked together in the background! God!

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I've had mishaps when DJing weddings in the past, but I've never done anything this embarrassing. Are you serious? How do you play the wrong song three times in a row before you find the right one? I've seen amateurs make less mistakes than that!
I own a DJ company in Rhode Island. I pride myself on offering professional service to all my clients. I feel so sorry for this couple that had their wedding destroyed by these amatures.
I don't feel bad!!! This is exactly what happens when you try to be cheep on the DJ/entertainment!!! I am a professional dj and I always explain to potential clients that the music will make or break your wedding no matter how much you spend on every thing else!! Lesson learned here!!
Daniel Guzman Agreed, I wanted to spend 5k on entertainment (DJ) And 10k on flowers. Spouse talked me into spending 12k on a band and a DJ and 5k on flowers. (Our budget was 15k for both) 10 years later friends and family still tell us our wedding was one of the funnest they had ever been to. We ended up paying for an extra hour because no one wanted to get off the dance floor. The venue ended up turning the lights on to get us out. Screw the flowers!

I've been a wedding DJ for 17 years. Every time I see vids like this, I can't believe that there are some DJ companies out there who even get hired ! One of the things that really struck me was when the DJ says "it's really dark back here ". Ha, any well equipped sound console has lights in it, OR, you have a penlight in your Tux pocket ! I wonder if they got paid.
SO it wasn't perfect. I'm hoping the couple had a wonderful day anyways. They got married didn't they? Their family and friends were there with them. And in the end, I'm sure that's what was most important! What a beautiful couple! Congratulations to them!

Hey I made the cd for my wedding and just let it play. We were too poor to have a dj. My outdoor reception turned into a reception in the front room of my 1 bedroom mill house. lol With your wedding you have to remember it is one day... roll with the punches and go with it.
That's the last wedding they'll use an 8-Track cassette player at. The fact they had the chosen song playing within 1/2 hour is a miracle. To that I say, "job well done DJ".

All music for special parts of the wedding should be in a crate or folder and cued and then Another folder with the same stuff just in case the original folder has issues and should be in a playlist on an external device

The MC is not skilled with keeping an atmosphere upbeat and the "DJ" is disorganized. Still I'm sure 10 people in the audience could have done a better job. If you not going to pay for a professional you are going to need to have more vision and spend a lot of time planning. Plus that woman was boring..which they must have known..obviously they weren't shooting for a fun party.

I've heard of the groomsmen's vests/ties matching the bridesmaid's dres color, but never the train of the bride's dress.
