I got to get into the game because of a really nice guy it was a guard that notice what I was doing trying to sneak in looked over at me and said hey kid what are you doing I said to him I just want to see the game I never thought the Phillies would be here he looked around and he said come on kid go ahead I started to cry and I thanked him so much he said hey kid you don't know me if anybody asks how you got in. I said why would I do that I don't want to get you in trouble and that was that thank you by the way sir You made a childhood dream come true. But that was the first game I ever want to see with the Phillies unbelievable they won the world series and I was there.

1980 was a great year for PA sports. Sixers made the finals, Steelers won the super bowl and the Phillies won the world series

I agree, I just wish they would lift the ban and put him in the Hall of Fame. RIP Pete.

I was 13. Unbelievable. I’ll never forget Boone dropping the ball and Rose being right there to grab it

I was 15 and there by myself, didn’t have a ticket, paid a guard $5 to let me in and he did. It was a reported 65,000 plus crowd, the largest at the time to ever to watch a baseball game in North American. But I can’t tell you there had to be 10,000 standing in the isles for a 75,000 attendance, it was an unbelievable noise when that game ended!

When Pete Rose catches that ball is classic Phillies baseball, Legendary, I cried when Tugger threw that last strike, and the endless party down Broad st. to city hall was also legendary!

Thank you that was amazing to see again. Was 9 when the hometown Phillies won it with Tugger on the mound! What a great team they had built up. All great players.

my mom said she was watching this game with her family and when the final pitch was thrown her grandfather scaled the room in 2 jumps because of how happy he was his phils won. his wife (her grandma) was also not allowed in the room during any phillies games because everytime she would walk in the phillies messed something up. im surprised she was allowed in the house during the world series 💀💀

I was a kid during the 1980 world series and I wanted to go to the game so bad. Growing up in Philadelphia You did not get to see many teams play for championships. Sky I want down to the stadium and it was like so easy to sneak in but during the series they had guards everywhere I could not get in. I could not get in until the one guard said hey kid what are you doing I said with tears in my eyes I just want to go in and watch the game and he let me in. He said Don't tell anybody I let you in I said why would I do that thank you so much sir You don't know how much this means to me. Steve Carlton was my favorite Phillies player on that team. In my opinion the best left-handed picture ever until the big unit. Randy Johnson now holds that title. Any arguments from anybody? I don't think I'll get many. But the only picture other than Steve Carlton I wanted to see they sent out tug McGraw I loved him too. When tug McGraw got out of that 8th inning jam I was so happy. I thought this is it they are going to win the world series I was crying my eyes out. It was 4-1 in the top of the 9th and I was so nervous when tug McGraw gave up the first two runners on base I started getting real nervous. I was like this is not happening they are going to lose the world series. That's baseball That's how fast things can turn around and I know this even as a little kid. My father was a bookie so there was a lot of sports talk in my house. When Boone and Rose got that first out I was sweating so bad. But I was still real nervous because the bases were jammed and the manager was patient with McGraw. When tug McGraw struck out that last batter I was crying so hard and everybody I seen was crying too we all know this doesn't happen for Philadelphia. God bless the Phillies rest in peace tug you are the man. Thank you guys for making a childhood dream come true for me I love you

All kids and many adults should watch how Pete Rose played this game. He was hitting .100 yet his enthusiasm never wavered. His first AB he check swings a single- desperate swing but he's on. Second AB a brilliant hidden bunt. Third AB sac fly. Fourh infield single. And the catch.
Always keep your enthusiasm. Things will change- let the last AB go good or bad-nothing you can do about it.

Yankees/Dodgers. It was a fitting WS.
