Yeah, as a 20 year old this podcast is great therapy. Just 3 dads having a laugh and not taking anything too seriously, really helps me step back when life gets too hard and see things in a positive light @@Ali-ey9sz
It's interesting how all 3 are intelligent in such different ways. It's especially easy to forget, with how easygoing & goofy Sips is, that he is a very insightful person when it comes to life lessons & relationships.
My mom's been into magic shit all my life and when my stepdad died she started really trying to get me into it. Healers, runes, fortune tellers, spiritual practices, I've seen all of it. I'm with Pyrion on this one, this shift is a deal-breaker for me too
It's sad to see sometimes. Desperately clinging to something. It's from a good place I spose from some, but screw the charlatans taking advantage of people.
Haha this way great, me and my fella of just over a year are both divorced, and dated in our 30s. I'm veggie, have 6 dogs, he plays war hammer and collects Pokémon cards, has 2 dogs and 2 kids. I never thought I'd date someone with kids, but here we are. We're both big nerds, have similar life goals, love animals, similar social and environmental ethics, similar kinks etc, and it's going great. Sometimes you have to try something different to find something special, self set red flags aren't always right. Love the podcast as always guys ❤
25:00 oop also my gf. Well shes not so much into the crystals and homeopathy but she witchy and does tarot reading, magic, and astrology. She told me she did sex magic to get me to ask her out. She got hired as admin assistant and I would have to interact with her from time to time. She tried to spark conversation but i never picked up the clues because im so dense and on the spectrum. I thought I didn’t have a chance. She is cute and in my type range. But she has a masters in polcomm and BA in polsci. Always reading a book. Like finishing one a week and weren’t short books either. I was failing at dating apps and this friend if mine finally had enough of telling me she/they was only interested in me platonically(also come to find out she has a CNC kink which is uncomfortable for me be no shame against anyone). I was feeling really down because that killed our friendship. I wasnt pressing the matter but something came up and she accused me of only caring about her because i was wanting to get with her. Anyway, my coworker friend tried cheering me up and told me there are other girls out there and that one her thought i was handsome. Well only 3 women worked here and she was my moms age, another maybe in her 60s and my current GF who i hadnt ever really talked to. So that gave me the courage to go talk to her and ask if she wanted to get some coffee after work. We did and we hit it off. We have had to work through things but we have both come out better people and we both feel like we are helping each other grow.
Pyrion hit exactly on the position a lot of religious people are in. Penn Jilette put it into words really well, too, although a lot of my atheist friends get upset about it. Penn specifically said the only kind of Christian friend he can really expect is kind who wants to convert you, for the same reason Pyrion mentioned. I tend to handle it by being open about being a Christian, being perfectly willing to talk about the topic if it comes up, but not trying to push it on anyone. So if a friend decides they're interested in learning about it, they know they can talk to me. And I'm well aware of the reputation that we have, and of course I'm aware how much of it has been earned. I keep getting told I'm "one of the good ones," but I'm also one of the ineffective ones, in that sense. Similarly, I see how destructive covid has been, and I often don't talk about masks or vaccines because people are annoyed by it. (It's still very much an issue here because people have ignored it since the beginning. Plus I'm high risk, so I'm extra aware.) Yeah, that's what's polite, but I believe it's also so important, and I hate knowing the kind of risk some of my loved ones are needlessly taking by refusing to mask or vaccinate. Not to mention the political beliefs that got them there... Don't get me wrong, I don't put atheists and covid deniers in the same category, by any means. It's one thing not to believe in God, but it takes a special kind of person to think that all of science is somehow a conspiracy. I know that most people are just doing their best, Christian or otherwise. There are other things that make it a bad analogy, too, but it's the best I've got. It's just that I feel similarly stuck. I know I have simple information that could change their lives for the better, but trying to tell people about it only makes them more convinced that they're right. I just want to help!
You could fit another triangle make it the four angel force with a upside down triangle in the middle somebody goofy like de Dutch man Z he won’t even count as a full member so still triforce
ive dated ALOT of people and want to add something to this but despite having alot of bad relationships i havent had many bad dates atleast none that i remember. it might be because i only date people i know decently well
interestingly enough though i did meet my wife in the discord server of a porn game, which is probably the weirdest place ive found romantic partners >.>
Comment on the religious topic: im a pastors kid, not religious anymlre because i felt more safe in a goddamn military squad than i did in church. People who are religious are usually hyper aggressive if your viewpoint is different than theirs, and its either passively or actively aggressive so the ones that dont seem aggressive i assure you they are. Theres a popular diner near me that gets a ton of after-church customers. They often say that is the worst part of the week because they never tip (i live in the US) and theyre loud, obnoxious, and rude. And I grew up in church. I thought it was just the ones my dad pastored so I looked around when I got on my own. Nope, same shit everywhere. Fuck religion, they preach peace but practice nothing but hate
I mean yeah look at the Israel situation calls for genocide on both sides Look at what the Russia church says about Ukraine Religion is a tool and a weapon surely you must have noticed this with your background I’m interested though what part of the country are you from kind of sounds like mid west but also you didn’t mention exorcisms or speaking in tongues
Going on a date with Lewis is in itself a red flag, so you may as well ditch the red flag thing and focus on the person themselves Can't wait for Lewis to find someone so the podcast topics can move on, my god lol
Prejudging religious people seems like a red flag. As does generalizing across an entire group of people simply because of your own limited experiences. As usual, sips seems to be more level-headed on this particular matter.
The problem is that religion is pretty clear-cut. When I say "religion" I'm talking generally about Catholicism here, but there are definitely very questionable core elements to it that you have to adhere to and believe. And these are universal, you can't just cherry-pick (though many try). So while I am always against generalization as a whole, I think religions are one of those things you can safely generalize. All true, faithful Catholics believe in an omnipotent being who created the world, a heaven and hell that your magical spirit goes to after you die, and they have absolutely no evidence for these things. Even without all of the toxicity against homosexuals and a whole plethora of other issues, it's just not really the type people I want to associate myself with.

Pyrion presents a very simplistic view of religious people that doesn't really correspond to how a lot of people live.
