Hello Pyrion Flax! I am a younger man (unlike you) who has been in the British education system in the past decade and a drop down is basically when the school picks a day where students go off their usual timetable and are taught more practical stuff, mostly key skills like communication, creativity, stuff like that. I think my most interesting drop down day I had was when we had a whole day of sports and at some point we had a disabled man come in who ran this sports league for disabled children and we all got to play rugby and basket ball in wheel chairs. It was hilarious because everyone was just so dumbfounded as to how to operate a wheelchair while playing a sport. During rugby everyone was bashing into each other like they were on go karts at the fair and during basketball it was challenging trying to keep the ball bouncing while moving in the wheelchair. The best part was one of the kids in my year who was disabled was just demolishing everyone, having him on your team pretty much guaranteed a win. Probably the most fun I’ve had doing sports in school ever!
Man the slang discussion really underscores how little time our two dads and our Lebanese child spend in the real world - online gaming slang is, ironically, dull, uninspired, and uniform. But slang used by kids IRL is constantly evolving and adapting.
I think a big part of it is that kids’ brains are in that stage where they’re still highly plastic, while these guys have fully-formed brains that are less able to pick up new slang.
I don't get complaints about movies not being what you expected. Being surprised at a movie is the best thing for me as a moviegoer, I despise getting exactly what I expected. Also a main reason why I skip trailers so as to minimize visual spoilers.
@triforce! To answer Lewis's question around the 55:27 mark. At the Triple A level, and maybe other levels, the answer to Lewis's question "Have they not played X-Com 2?" is maybe, but they are not allowed to look at other games while developing a game. The reason being that if they look at other games there is a chance they could create a system or use something so similar to say X-Com 2 that they could be sued for copyright theft or infringement. That is why despite X-Com 2 being so good follow up games feel like they have not looked at the game, because during the development of the follow up they didn't look at X-Com 2 for fear of being accused of copyright infringement/theft. I feel I should add, this is what was explained to me by developers at the Triple A level, I dont know if its true for indies and other games, and I am not a developer myself.
Hey Pyrion! To your problem with doors, we had exactly the same one! We just bought some washers for the hinges, lubed them up a the doors are now fixed. Funny side effect is that now me and my wife constantly slam the doors, because they are too easy to open and close compared to before.
it's interesting hearing lewis' thoughts on starcraft. honestly I found all the QoL with teleporting around one of the selling points (though navigating a place like new atlantis can be a PITA since there's no map???). I even downloaded a mod that skips the takeoff/docking/landing cutscenes lol. after playing a decent amount of no man's sky, these things get annoying once you've seen it 200 times.. getting in and out of power armour in fallout 4 / 76 forexample.. even though it's like 4 seconds, it feels like 2 minutes and you end up avoiding using power armour almost just because you're so sick of getting in and out of it. I played about 100-125 hours of starfield by buying a month of gamepass, and it was definitely worth it. but as it's a bethesda games, mods are almost a necessity. *especially* the one that reduces the fucking high pitch noises when going in and out of inventory, using the scanner etc. that genuinely made me go insane in the first 2 hours of playing.
accents.. i deal with it every day as an NZer in USA. i have had like 5 people get it right in a 20 year span.. one was a family of NZers that went in my store near the start of it.. i have got everything .. aussie or england are the most.. but once norwegia ... yeah.. not even a real place
@@dylanb3283Yeah it's not the day focus part, its more the public speaking part. Studies show a clear divide between private and state schooled students with regard to oracy and public speaking, which informs their self-confidence and communication skills from entry into the workplace through to retirement. That focus remains the central divide between the two groups, as private schools can afford to make time for oracy, and state schools can't. (This is in the UK)
@@jamescarroll384 Ah mb, other than a few speaking assessments there was very little emphasis on oration/ public speaking. I was focused more on the drop down day bit as I know quite a few people who didn't have anything like that at their school
Man I really felt that when Pyrion was like stop setting xcom games in the 30s. Seriously its like every dev that made an xcomlike thought to themselves, how can I take the gameplay and make it as BORING as fucking possible. Let's copy xcom, include none of the good aspects, and also none of the upgrades or unlockables are exciting.
I'm someone who watches Dota but has never played it; I simply have no interest in doing so. That said, I don't actually watch pro games at all, I only watch scrub dotes because Pyrion yelling at idiots is funny. Oh, and DAF and Joe's streams, because Joe absolutely losing his shit over the abysmal players is also hilarious.
nah sex addiction isn't made up let alone by celebrities. There is sex addiction in DSM for psychology. Which outlines criteria for mental health issues. Which is created by doctors. Just because you first heard about it because some actor had it doesn't mean celebrities made it up.
So you belive porn addiction is a thing but not sex addiction... how is that even logical? Ofc sex addiction is a thing, just like gambling addiction is a thing. Addiction doesn't excuse someones actions but it explains them. Why someone does something is important.
the whole slang discussion is so stupid. people just ignoring the fact that slang these days is barley even words at all and just some stupid no effort zoomer sounds. jusz acting like its them getting older and not that zoomers are literally worse than satan himself. with their stupid hairstyles, their vape pens, their entitled views, their lack of any creativity, their zero effort is „cool“ personality and lack of any real world experience in favor of being on the internet their whole lives. you cannot tell me that is a normal way of being…
You will never be on the Noah's Ark to the binary world! We schizoposting cyberpilled soyfilled snowflakes will fly through the metaphysical software and the Real. Repent! Get plugged in! Knowledge is no longer triboelectric!

Sips is *exactly* the person who signs up for an evening class and then two weeks in thinks "ahhh, can't be arsed this week" and never shows up again.
Sips' face spazzing out at the end really got me for some reason... It looked like he was mocking lewis while he was ranting lol
same!
3 days later 27:53 hits a lil different...RIP Chandler
Nah dude he was an asshole. Said that it should have been Keanu Reeves that died instead of River Phoenix

I love sips avatar silently mocking lewis
56:50 Sips' Avatar starts classically mocking Lewis' Avatar by mimicking his mouth movements
Don't forget Joe Pera's show "Joe Pera Talks With You", takes place in my favorite city in Michigan!

I think the triforce just correctly predicted Matthew Perry's death... 😮
Great timing with the friends talk lads
Speaking of comedians. Pyrion and Randy felt face have the same voice! 😂

Was struggling to sleep it’s 3 am thank you for uploading
I feel like that beginning bit has been spoken before. Word for word
The Mailbag has already made Lewis forget what the podcasts were like before lol
the guy who turned up to night school in a suit sounds like an absolute super chad.
I wanna meet this guy now
people mistaking Sips' accent is so hilarious because just the other day, my mom asked if Sips was french
You know for Flax claiming he is open minded he is very judgemental about a lot of stuff

Just received word from King Kai, Friends star Matthew Perry has just passed through the Other-World check in station.
RIP

Pyrion's kids must go to private school right. An all girls school that has a public speaking day. That's 100% some private school shit.
I went to a public school and we had Drop Down days but they were science focused.

im in the UK public school and had to do public speaking to pass English language GCSE
i was very excited to watch but now i have to watch joe pera, the fuck p flax
Damn I saw the trailer for The Creator before seeing Oppenheimer and I thought it looked amazing. Thank you Ben for taking the bullet
i don't follow dota but the TI in china situation was amazing.
Pyrian has wasted so much of his life playing dota…..
It's weird that Pflax and I share in common so many youtube channels
Sips is too lazy and is gonna talk himself out of it, come on now. Even his triangle is lazy in this episode!

Shortest podcast is episode 3. 36:40mins.
Second shortest! The shortest is Episode 62 "Travel Stories" at 34:17 minutes
Love my triforce content
