  • Performing a Big Band Drum Cover of a Jazz Standard that was originally written by Bart Howard in 1954 and originally titled In Other Words. The song was also introduced by Felicia Sanders in Cabarets. The song became known popularly as “Fly Me to the Moon” from the first line of the B verse, and after a few years the publishers changed the title to that officially. Plus the song was recorded in 1964 originally by Frank Sinatra also accompanied by The Count Basie Orchestra. Sinatra also performed the song with Basie on Sinatra at the Sands (1966), and with bossa nova great Antonio Carlos Jobim on Duets II (1994). The song was recorded by many jazz greats including Tony Bennett, Michael Buble, Diana Krall, Count Basie, Doris Day and many more. This arrangement is a Sammy Nestico Arrangement and my High School Jazz Band Performed this piece years ago, we were going to do it but we decided to drop it during my junior year of High school. This was recorded in 2000 by the United States Air Force Band Airmen Of Note on the Album "Let's Dance" from Circa 2000. Here is Sammy Nesticos Verison of Fly Me To The Moon.
