The best from Britain. Also the best version of this song. No doubt. Dusty could sing anything and make it her own. She was just amazing!!! ❤❤❤Dusty❤❤❤
Youngsters of 2013, the reality TV age ... Look at this lady. 1. She is talented. Listen to that voice.. This is a lady that learned her craft and rose up to dominate it. 2. Look at her. Classy. Elegant. Brilliant at what she did.. Absolutely brilliant.,forget leeches like Simon Cowell. This lady was the real deal. 3. Watch her. Learn. And then realise how brilliant she was.
Dusty and Martha Reeves were very dear friends back in the day. In fact, back in the '60s, this lovely lady was largely responsible for introducing many Motown artists, and soul music in particular, to Britain, Europe in general, and the rest of the world. There are some clips of her Motown special here on RUclips. It's unfortunate that, during her life, the world never gave her the credit or appreciation she so richly deserved for bringing so much to the world of music. We owe her so much.
Dear Darling Dusty. I saw her live 3 times. She was just lovely! I think this is one of the very best displays of Dustys pure enjoyment in singing. Those of us who as kids fell for her, have never forgotten those appearances on Ready Steady Go( still the best pop music show EVER) or Guest starring on other shows and of course her own 4 TV series of shows. Bless you , Darling. We miss you, Forever! You gave us more than you realized.
This really is first class stuff. Just been listening to some other Dusty from that period. Taken for granted a bit, but really she was a great singer.
One of my greatest female singers. Definitely could of made Heat Wave as popular of a song as Martha Reeves if she was offered to do it. Martha is another of my favorite singers.
Dusty darling....thank you for all your wonderful musical contributions. You invented yourself and your style of singing....a true original. Also, I own your three CD Box Set (wonderful).
I’ll never forget Winnewald summer camp in NJ sitting in the arts & crafts room making a lanyard when on the counselor’s transistor radio came the song “Wishin’ and Hopin’”. What a happy moment!
How sad that it's been years since someone has left a positive comment about Dusty Springfield. Damn this woman could sing! I've never heard a song of hers that disappointed me. I understand that she was perfectionist and would sometimes have a syllable edited and re-do it. She originally did Son Of A Preacher Man and after hearing Aretha Franklin's version wished she'd done some of the things Aretha did to the song. If you listen to Son Of A Preacher Man, you'll hear an absolutely perfect song. Aretha's was very good too, but Dusty had nothing to complain about, at least not from my perspective.
@Mycroftsbrother she used her influence with ATV as it was to produce an hour long RSG special featuring the Tamla stars that were on tour here ( not a very successful tour up to then) Dusty saved the tour and brought Tamla Motown to the wider UK audience.
Yes. It's called "Dusty Springfield Live at the BBC". I think Amazon and Barnes and Noble carry it in the US...probably in Britain also. It is well worth the price!
@MrHarveyluke I agree with you. before contemporary white singers like teena marie, christina agulerra, joss stone, and even lady gaga, there was dusty springfield giving it to us with her own raw yet soulful rendition. i miss her.
I'm a huge Linda fan, but you are WRONG about her "teaching" Dusty. This was filmed in the U.K. for Dusty's series on the BBC on 9-12-1967. DS was already established here in the states since going solo in '64. She had respect from many R&B singers since performing with Motown singers at the Brooklyn Fox in '64. In contrast, Linda didn't have her first hit until November of 1967 with the Stone Ponies. Why would producers in the U.K. hire a then unknown U.S folk singer to tutor DS in in R&B?
Dusty is the greatest female singer from England but Linda Ronstadt has a better version of this song. Both Linda and Dusty leave todays singer behind with their great voice that does not need loud music or dancers to hide their lack of talent.
The best from Britain. Also the best version of this song. No doubt. Dusty could sing anything and make it her own. She was just amazing!!! ❤❤❤Dusty❤❤❤
The Motown Sound... Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
Bravo Dusty.
R.I.P.
Martha and the Vandellas will love this cover Dusty has done on this song.
She was beautiful lyric and soul ❤️
She just looks so alive and vibrant here. She also looks like she is having so much fun. It just takes my breath away.

Oh well said xx
Exactly!
Amen.
And God Bless Dusty, forever.
Couldn't put it better myself. No one can beat the 60's Brit girls - Dusty, Petula, Cilla, Sandie and Lulu. The original girl power!
@@simonleaf2765 Bring them all back !!! Love the female Brits
This lady in my view is the greatest female rock/pop/blues singer ever. Breathtakingly brilliant and so beautiful too. RIP Dusty
What a voice she had. It's a shame we've lost such a talented lady. She's by far my favourite singer I absolutely love her, her voice is so smooth

She is burning this song up! Awesome.

Very sadly Dusty's final series was wiped by the BBC! I think it was made in 1969!
This is astonishing . What an incredible vocal talent Dusty was. How greatly she is missed.
What a voice
This really is first class stuff. Just been listening to some other Dusty from that period. Taken for granted a bit, but really she was a great singer.
The greatest white soul singer EVER !! Miss you so much !!
One of my greatest female singers. Definitely could of made Heat Wave as popular of a song as Martha Reeves if she was offered to do it. Martha is another of my favorite singers.
She died too young
The best soul singer. Black or white. Period!
Whoever voted with a thumb down on this outstanding performance can sit on it!
Agreed!
Yes. Together with a rusty nail.
Totally agree with you!
Remembering the wonderful Dusty Springfield who was born 80 years ago today 16th April 1939. Dusty was a huge fan and supporter of Motown.
You ARE 100% CORRECT........ SHE HELP SPREAD MOTOWN MUSIC IN THE UK BACK IN THE 60'S.
I LOVE ME SOME DUSTY........."BLUE EYE SOUL" AT IT BEST !!!!!
Dare I say it but does this out MOTOWN and even out SOUL the original?
Dusty darling....thank you for all your wonderful musical contributions. You invented yourself and your style of singing....a true original. Also, I own your three CD Box Set (wonderful).
You're in love. You have great taste.
Amen!
Very special yes she was
Well said❤
Probably from a Saturday night variety programme. Total class that is long gone on British tv. Luckily i'm old enough to remember such class.
She was a great one. It was a great time to be about a 12-year-old glued to the transistor radio.
I’ll never forget Winnewald summer camp in NJ sitting in the arts & crafts room making a lanyard when on the counselor’s transistor radio came the song “Wishin’ and Hopin’”. What a happy moment!
great DVD, I own it...Dusty Forever...best female pop singer of the 60's

The Queen of White Soul!
I couldn't agree more :) Absolutely love this - one of my favourite Dusty videos xx
Dusty’s amazing, love her
One of the greatest soul singers EVER.
Dusty on FIRE!!!
The woman's got soul.
Dusty was always so elegant. A true lady of soul.
I did not she sang Motown, Pleasant suprise.
Magnificent!
Is it me, or is it getting HOT in here?
"The Voice" scores again... 5 stars at least!
@Mycroftsbrother she used her influence with ATV as it was to produce an hour long RSG special featuring the Tamla stars that were on tour here ( not a very successful tour up to then) Dusty saved the tour and brought Tamla Motown to the wider UK audience.
I would have had such a crush on her had I seen this in '67. She looks beautiful and owns this song here.
Love this.
Dusty played at my prom. Great talent.
Lucky you!
what a voice! what a feeling! She has SOUL. uhh..no. Maybe SHE is SOUL.
3 people must got dropped on their heads when they were young where their brain only like Miley Cyrus.
Bless her, haven't seen this before, just like her to do this successfully
Dusty could sing the phone book!!
Yes. It's called "Dusty Springfield Live at the BBC". I think Amazon and Barnes and Noble carry it in the US...probably in Britain also. It is well worth the price!
GET A LOAD OF THIS SOULFUL STRUTING CUTIE!....////
wow!
Powerful
majestic...
@MrHarveyluke I agree with you. before contemporary white singers like teena marie, christina agulerra, joss stone, and even lady gaga, there was dusty springfield giving it to us with her own raw yet soulful rendition. i miss her.
TOTALLY AGREE, AMAZING !!
BRILLIANT.
God plz bring back Dusty Springfield and we trace you for Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
@Nicklas4500 Well, then...I only have 3 words for her:
YOU GO GIRL!!!
the perfect antidote to watching american idol (not that i watch it lol) thanks, dusty!
Time for a film Bio...ups and downs of the great blue eyed soul singer....Adele?

Fantastic !!
wow! wonderful version.
She was meant to be a tough lady as well as a perfectionist! very well may be lethal to those who invoke her anger! BUT STICK IT TO 'EM DUSTY!
I think at the end she says, "What? No. I'm through with it." Don't blame her. It was an awesome performance and didn't need worn out.
❤️
Dusty always sounded too me … that she studied the way Shirley Alston of The Shirelles sang and sounded. She too me copied Shirley’s sound.
Dusty is the greatest female singer from England but Linda Ronstadt has a better version of this song. Both Linda and Dusty leave todays singer behind with their great voice that does not need loud music or dancers to hide their lack of talent.
I heard the song from Ronstadt first and liked it better than the M and the Vs but Dusty hits it out of the park here
Sorry Phil Collins, but THIS is how you GLORIFY a song.
Wow, this is the loudest I've ever heard Dusty. Usually she barely registers over a very cool coo.
If she would had lived in the.u.s.a,she could be motown's singer
Dusty seems a bit miffed at the end
Obviously wishing the orchestra would stop. It did seem to go on a bit
Oh yeah what a tune xx
She does Americona very very good...
She embodied the sixties, style, song, and dance.
She so cute ❤😊YNWA
At the time, I thought Dusty sung Motown better than some of Morown stars themselves. RIP Dusty & thanks for the music.
Oh yeah better than Mary Wells, right
The top female vocalist of the 1960s,top vocalist of all time and very generous woman to other people and artists.I hope shes in Heaven..
she's in Rock 'n Roll Heaven, no doubt
The on and only! Nobody but nobody could come close to anything like that voice in the 60 s and 70s. Forever loved and sorely missed.
💗💗💗
Thank God we had her !!!
Good Song Thanks:)
Better than Martha and the Vandella's version
Sike.
?
Jim Sidwell I would say, as good as. Dusty glorified the sound of Motown and I love her for that.
Any lipreaders here? What does she mouth when the song's over and the show isn't? I think she's a little annoyed! what ya'll think?
I don't remember ever seeing her perform anything quite so up-tempo before. 👍❤
Did she do an album with Motown music?
Jeezus she was the shxt!
Phil WHO?
Great job, but nobody does it like Linda Ronstadt....nobody!
Classic case of a cover being better than the original lol
What a shame playback
It's not playback, there're background singers who sing with her, but she's singing live although it sounds perfect
