- In this video tutorial, we'll be covering time-stretching in Impulse for sound design. We'll also explore how to use it with other features and automation to get some really compelling results. You can use the results as they are, or take it a step further by e.g. recording them as audio, comping, and warping. I'll also present four of my free Live Packs to inspire you. You can download all of them, and the links are provided below. Enjoy!

Inspiring stuff! Thanks for the deep dive into impulse.
My pleasure!
so i don't have ableton, but the stretch control allowing you to speed it up reminded me of something i did for an unreleased track. i took some old long foley recordings i made ages ago, and sped them up with one of logic's stretch modes, i think slicing. so it took all the loud bits and squished them together, and i got some neat glitches to use for an intro with pretty minimal effort.
Nice. I'm sure there's at least one way to get this done in any DAW.
As someone who only hopped on at live 9, I don't think I've ever consciously loaded up impulse before lol. Thanks for the video :)
You're welcome and not alone as I'd mentioned in the video. I actually did a presentation for it at the Ableton Certification event, and I think at first most there wondered why I'd use an Impusle at all. 😁
I only made the switch to Live about 4 months ago and really only glanced briefly at Impulse, thanks so much for the information and inspiration :)
Happy to. 😀
🔥🔥🔥
Love for Impulse. ❤
I'm so not surprised you feel this way. 🙃
nice👍👍👍👍
never even heard of this thing thanks
So, not even ignored, but unknown. You're welcome. 🙂
Whats the advantage of hosting multiple instances of Impulse in a drum rack rather than using it as it's own self-contained 8-sample drum kit?
If you're using a MIDI controller like Push, it will be set up to use the Drum Rack. The Impulse only uses the the notes of the C Major scale from C3 to C4, so it's mostly about the MIDI note mapping to controllers.
