Made scapes sautéed in olive oil, mixed with cherry tomatoes, spinach, lots of eggs, and parm cheddar. What a delicious garden egg scramble that was. Never had successful garlic until this year. Must’ve been those MIGardener garlic bulbs I planted this season!🧄
Definitely love this. I love the farm to table aspect, and especially love how easy it was to make the pasta fresh! I have a ton of unused flour. Time to use it! Interestingly, my mother taught me long ago how to feel the dough - when it was moist enough depending on what you wanted to do, and what it felt like before rolling it. I have been vaguely remembering, as she passed away recently. She was a remarkable woman. Your pasta making method reminds me so much of her. Thank you!
Oh how I love that you do this type of video Luke!!! Just made 4 jars of scape pesto and still have 4 gallons of scapes in freezer for next batch! WOOT WOOT! And, our scapes are WILD on our land and have tons!!! ❤ y’all, Kristy in Missouri zone 6b 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This looks delicious. I had no idea that pasta was so easy to make. I've always thought it was very difficult. Thanks for taking us into the kitchen. I love seeing your garden to table dishes. Its always fun and interesting to find more ways to use our harvests. Blessings
I make a garlic scape pesto, portion it into an ice cube tray and freeze them into ~1tbs servings. Throw them in potatoes, pasta, sandwiches, a pan sauce... there's endless uses for them They're amazing.
You need to start another channel…in the kitchen with Luke! Loved this. Totally trying it. I just cut my scapes last week and have a bunch in the freezer. I used them with asparagus and baked them in the oven and omg it was so good!
I did a garlic scape pesto not long ago from our garden, didn't sauté the scapes though will have to try that next time! My children were not the hugest fans but it was still a fun meal!
Looks super delicious! I’m going to try garlic one more year. I didn’t do my research good enough and planted both soft and hardneck garlic. Out of 110 I got about 30 iffy plants. We shall see. No scapes, yet. In the fall I’ll plant only hardneck, because I’m in Michigan. If it doesn’t work next year….I’ll stick to what I know! Thank you Luke for teaching this 61 yr old dog, new tricks. 🌺
I've never made garlic pesto. right now I have scapes in my garden and they need to be cut off and something done with them. I had thought about drying some to make garlic powder. I'll be trying this out I have made fresh pasta although at the moment, I have dried. Thanks Luke
That looks delicious! Last year I had a ton of dill in the garden when it was time to harvest garlic scapes. I made a lemon, dill and garlic scape pestos that was fantastic! Great video.
Ooh! Awesome content. ;) by the way, I lovely hardening journal/planner from MI Gardener. Please tell Mrs MI gardener it is beautiful and functional. Any plans to continue with the Garden Planner?
It’ll be a wonderful thing if some gardeners also to learn how to start canning a lot of your vegetables 🥗 🥦 🥕 it’s a wonderful handy thing to do and if you have fruit trees learn how to canned them to do your jams and jellies, at least that’s what I do just another tip! The size drying out your vegetables to keep it for a longer period of time, some of you already know already, I do water 💦 canning and pressure cooker canning, and resize making things from scratch. I’m able to keep a lot of my produce and and fruit for a longer period of time.😘👩🏾🦲🥰 I enjoyed your recipe for your pesto, you did an awesome job! Go ahead with your bad self! 😊
I never knew how cookie you could be. I remember the pizza sauce and pizza. Great job! Cooking is the final answer to gardening and I'm pretty good at it too. Please share another dish sometime, but another channel is not necessary. Maybe just call it the garden cooking show. Bless you and yours.
This look delicious! To me, when sautéed, the garlic scapes taste like a mildly garlicky green bean. I have yet to try it in a pesto, but will have to give it a go.
I like this video of reap what you sow! Please. Continue with these types of video’s. I’m sure with all your employees you can come up with a plethora of how to’s.
Love it! That would be nice to afford a pasta making machine. Pesto is so good. Made it last year & froze in cubes to use thoughour the year. I have a couple cubes left. Thanks for the dinner idea. I add chicken to ours.
Field Trip! Thanks for this video and for sharing your kitchen in using what you grow to make something delicious - a great way to bring things full circle.
*LUKE* - once all the flour has been roughly incorporated, start passing the dough through the machine with the rollers on the widest setting, keep folding the dough and rolling it through until it's smooth - this way is much quicker and easier than hand kneading for 5 minutes!! The dough will be raggedy at first but it quickly smooths out.
@@kele1264 Glad I could help! The dough will first pass through in shaggedy bits and if it's little sticky, just dust the outside with a touch of flour and keep folding and rolling it through. It comes together really quickly, a magical transformation - and then let it rest before passing it through the decreasing widths. Been making pasta this way since I was a kid, learning from Mum. She's 96! Not admitting to my age though LOL! Bon appetite!!
I just harvested my garlic scapes and I love pesto, so I will definitely be trying this! I like to use pecans in my pesto. Thank you for this video, I'd also like to see more content like this.
I went out to the garden a couple weeks ago and all my garlic had flopped over. I thought a dog had plowed through but I started digging them up and they were all ready, two had even started separating. I knew onions flopped when ready for harvest, but I was surprised garlic did too.
I made scape pesto a little over a week ago. It is fantastic. I used it in pasta broccoli and it was fantastic. Have a little left over for my next pasta meal, but first time I made pesto and it came out great.
I’ve already harvested my scapes in Delaware. Did I harvest them too late? Mine were just starting to curl or curling. I can’t wait to make some garlic scape pesto !
I walked into the living room and my teenage daughter was eating my pine nuts for a snack. Yikes, at nearly $27 a pound. Never have bought them since either.
No link to the Atlas 150. Couldn't find it in your shop or your Amazon Link. I can find it with the name though. Thanks for letting us know the name of it!
Please make more content like this 🙏 I'm sure a lot of your viewers want to see more of what you do with your harvest

Almost ready to pick my garden scape. I made this last year for the first time. I love cooking from food I’ve picked out of my gardens.
I’ve been waiting for a gardener to start making recipe videos! ❤
Look at you, making pasta!! I just picked scapes this morning, so I’ll be trying this pesto today!

Great video. Multiple recipes in one! I'd love a similar video about chives. What to do with them other than just sprinkling them over various dishes?
I love that you make your own pasta!
Ooh! Awesome content. ;) by the way, I lovely hardening journal/planner from MI Gardener. Please tell Mrs MI gardener it is beautiful and functional. Any plans to continue with the Garden Planner?
I just cut my scapes today and was sitting here pondering what to make with it! Perfect timing Luke!

I LOVED this video. I had just cut some scapes and didn't know what to do with them. Thank you so much for the recipes. Im going to try it.
Great idea to show how to prepare the food we grow!
I have made a few things with my garlic scapes, BUT if you use them raw they are pretty bitter. But add a little heat and so sweet and delish!!!
Major respect for anybody that makes pasta from scratch!
Oh my gosh! I made the homemade scape pesto and homemade noodles! Very tastey!delicious
Perfect timing Luke! I was going to make pesto with my garlic scapes and wasn’t sure how to. Thank you
That grey shirt you have on is awesome. I need one 😮
Luke you have some mad pasta making skills! Did I remember you mentioning that you are Italian too? Love the rolling pin!
This video is perfect timing! I am picking up garlic scapes from my CSA this week!

I made Honey garlic chicken with my scapes this week. It was fantastic!!
YUM! My husband just made a beet greens and garlic scape pesto pizza.

Thanks for that tip! My arthritic hands really appreciate it!

Cut scapes and made pesto yesterday. I have lots of pecans so used those this time - great tasting batch this year.
Have garlic scape pesto in my freezer... yummy!
I just harvested my garlic scapes and I love pesto, so I will definitely be trying this! I like to use pecans in my pesto. Thank you for this video, I'd also like to see more content like this.
Yum! Great example. I LOVE the small portion!! Not intimidating and perfect for 2-3 people. (Supplement to meal, not entire meal)

Thanks. That was really nice. 😊God bless
Yes loved this ❤ more cooking from the garden pretty please ❤
I asked my husband if he would do more of the cooking cos I do all the gardening! I don't love cooking lol
Loved this video
You are quite the chef--heh, I could tell by the skillet swirl. Bravo!
Looks good. I'm going to have to try it. My garlic scapes are being harvested this week.
Love the cooking show. 😊
I made scape pesto a little over a week ago. It is fantastic. I used it in pasta broccoli and it was fantastic. Have a little left over for my next pasta meal, but first time I made pesto and it came out great.
I used walnuts too! YUMMY 😋
I’m impressed. That looks delicious.
More cooking shows please!!
I’ve already harvested my scapes in Delaware. Did I harvest them too late? Mine were just starting to curl or curling. I can’t wait to make some garlic scape pesto !
Great video. Can you do the same when onions go to seed?
Love this!!!
Thank you.
I love this content. Especially the not perfect house setting!
I did not sauté my scapes, definitely gonna do that next time!
What about onion scapes? Do they stop onions from bulbing?
Walnuts are healthy, possibly the healthiest with almond a close second then pistachio.
Love this content!
Great video!!
Ooooo this is wonderful
When is the best time to plant garlic and what is the best soil to plant them?
Aw man, all my scapes came out last week and I used them already. Guess I'll have to try this next year.
I remember the girl and guy on the podcast. And I remember Luke wife but who is Taylor?
She works for MIgardener and I believe she’s helping out with filming now so Luke can have his hands free when doing a video.
Can the scapes be too big? Mine a tad larger and wonder if it will still taste good.
Basil pesto next or a combination with parsley / garlic / onion or onion powder
I walked into the living room and my teenage daughter was eating my pine nuts for a snack. Yikes, at nearly $27 a pound. Never have bought them since either.

"Wolfing" nice thought I was the only person still saying that
Do you have a written recipe? Proportions for ingredients?
I review the video and take notes. Better'n nothin I guess.
