My male is purebred. Stalky. Was always 80lbs. He’s now 12 and has thyroid issues. Hardly eats much and is now 85lbs. Still very agile. He’s so wide (built stalky) I say I could put a saddle on him. ❤

So you say they come in all shapes and sizes. Wonderful vid of dogs that says very little WRT the title. Hence zero comments. Until mine. Cheers.

AKC only within the last few years “recognized” Aussies, yet they’re trying to take them over like they’ve done with other breeds and ruined a couple of my favorites with their ridiculous “standards.” There are 3 sizes, standard, mini and toy. Standard is over 18 inches, minis 14 to 18, and toys under 14. No weight is specified. This person only speaks to 2 of those. ASDR is their proper registry, not AKC.

Standard is the only true one. Anything other was a Mutation

@@cj3720In the late 1800s, the Standard Australian Shepherd was the first Australian Shepherd. The minature wasn't developed until the 1960s. So yes, the standard is the true real Australian Shepherd. The mini resulted in breeding Standard Australian Shepards who had an alteration of their growth gene. It took 50 years to establish a chromosomal change to #3, receptor 3.
That's like developing an offspring of dwarf humans where dwarfs would only have sex with dwarfs to create a sound receptor 3 gene. They're still humans and the originator is non dwarf humans. The established first breed of it's kind is the true breed. Establishing a mini of a standard breed is weird because the originator is the standard.
