Hey Gabe, you should check out either Hidalgo (mountainous regions east of Mexico City) or Chiapas (tropical region that borders Guatamalea). In Hidalgo they have a lot of small and beautiful little mining towns called "Pubelo Magicos". One of them, Mineral del Monte, has a rich history of English miners (people from Britain) that immigrated there for the silver mining boom. There are tons of British restaurants in that village, and there's even a graveyard for the british people that died there. In Chiapas, San Cristobal de las Casas, is a beautiful mountain town that has warm days but cool nights (they use wood to heat their homes). Nearby is the Cañón del Sumidero, which is the Grand Canyon of Mexico. And if you go south to the border, then you can hike across the border from Mexico to Guatalamea. You start at Córdova Matasanos, a small town with beautiful mountain views, hike thru more smaller beautful towns, then you cross the border by foot.
You should check out the hike from boca de tomatlan to las animas if you're up for an adventure. Beautiful hike with some stunning virgin beaches. Mexicos smallest beach is actually on that hike. Las animas is only accessible by foot or water taxi so you could also take a water taxi to and from las animas
Gabriel, good to see you, and so glad to see you enjoying the warmth of Mexico again. My dad hails from the state of Jalisco where you are right now. You've covered most of Mexico pretty well, and maybe you've seen El Sumidero and what Chiapas has to offer, but to get really exotic, perhaps you'd like to try Cuatro Ciénegas (the Four Marshes) in the state of Coahuila. Yes, it's a hike north from where you are, but I think that it is unlike anything you may have experienced. It is a largely undiscovered set of unique ecosystems that few travelers have the privilege to enjoy. If you would be interested, you could tool up from Guadalajara on those comfy buses. In the meantime, enjoy the local cuisine as you move about! Cheers!

I was there for a few hours and it was so serene compared to Sausalito with the noisy bars and overrun with foreign tourists.
Btw you can save some money getting a bus to Boca de Tomatlan and getting the water taxi from there to Yelapa, just make sure you pay the money to the boat driver since some restaurants waiters tell you you can buy the ticket to them but is a lie. My mom lived years in Yelapa so trsut me thats the route locals use, paying from P Vallarta is overpriced
I have four passports. I was born with entitlement to three - Canadian, British and Irish - and have now applied for and received them all. So I use the US passport to enter the US, the Canadian to enter Canada etc. For general travel to everywhere else, I go Irish!

Nice!!! I stayed in las aralias last year in PV, Los Cinco sauces, street food from 5 pm on became a go to .. . The naval museum on the malecon is quite interesting, they also have a small restaurant without crazy prices
Since you have a Canadian passport why haven't you used it to extend your stay when visiting Europe, Greek Islands? You're always facing the 90 days max stay issue. Can't you exit and enter back with a Canadian passport?
I didn't have the Canadian passport for the past twenty years, until I just renewed it. But unfortunately what you're suggesting isn't allowed. You could do it and would very likely get away with it as I understand, especially if you exited through some of the southern countries of Europe like Spain. But you would be taking a bit of a risk of getting caught and potentially fined or banned from visiting Europe.
@@GabrielTravelerVideosaccording to Google, even with both an American and Canadian passport, you can only stay in the Schengen area of Europe for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period, as both passports are subject to the same visa-free entry rules for the Schengen zone; to stay longer, you would need to apply for a long-stay visa from the relevant European country.
Exactly. The 90 day restriction is for you as a person, not the passport, so having multiple passports doesn't allow you to stay longer. But you would probably be able to get away with it if you tried. Problem is you're taking a risk and there are no guarantees. You could end up being asked questions about whether you're the same person who entered before with a different passport and then if you admit it was you there's a problem and if you lie it's a problem. I wouldn't want to be caught in that situation.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos You can use a visa waiver to stay in the EU 3-6 monthers longer than the Schengen visa (depending on the country). A visa waiver means you enter an EU country by using their visa vs the Schengen visa. Most EU countries have visa waiver agreements with most Western countries like US, Canada, Austrlia, etc. When you enter a EU country on a visa waiver, you are supposed to stay in that country for the duration of your stay. But of course, if that country is in the Schengen visa, then you have free movement ;)
@GabrielTravelerVideos just towards the mountains from the port where the cruise ships arrive. About a mile inland. I think it's older than Puerto Vallarta
Regarding passports… when applying for a US passport, you can request a “large book” passport which has about twice the number of pages for stamps. With respect to having another nationality’s passport while “waiting” for a US passport to arrive… do be aware that if you are a US citizen arriving into the US by air then you have to have a US passport to enter the US. 😊🛫🚢 Cheers and safe travels!
Yes, getting the larger passport is essential for regular travelers. Even getting that I've almost filled it up in seven years. I hadn't known about the rule that you have to enter the US with your US passport, but that makes sense. So I'll have to wait to apply for a new US passport until I'm willing to stay long enough to get it back.
@ Yeah, it wasn’t always so… the passport entry rule was instituted about 15 years ago as part of the “Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative”. Note though that it only applies to arrivals by air. If entering by land or sea, a passport card, Global Entry or NEXUS cards are also permissible forms of identification.
There area a plethora of smaller beach destinations to the south of Vallarta near Yelapa. Also, town of Chacala in Nayarit, north of San Pancho looks quite promising. Just some suggestions!

Weed is decriminalized in Mexico.
You can grow six plants and possess 28 grams .
No weed stores, no smoking in public.

What's PTL?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Really ? never heard of that one.
@GabrielTravelerVideos just towards the mountains from the port where the cruise ships arrive. About a mile inland. I think it's older than Puerto Vallarta
@@raymondmurray7499 Okay, but what does PTL stand for, the actual name of the town? Then I could find it on the map.
If you liked Guanajuato you will love Taxco Guerrero there’s buses that take you there from CDMX
I've heard about it, sounds interesting.
Hi Gabe. I just spent Thanksgiving in La Paz, which was pretty chill and not a lot of tourist. You might wanna look at that?

I will recommend visiting Huasteca Potosina, very beautiful nature just a few hours from San Luis Potosi with its historic architecture as well
There area a plethora of smaller beach destinations to the south of Vallarta near Yelapa. Also, town of Chacala in Nayarit, north of San Pancho looks quite promising. Just some suggestions!
Huatulco is nice and not so touristy yet, PVR way to touristy in my books.I am in Ixtapa right now for a few weeks its okay but not great.
Glad to hear. ..We are leaving the Toronto area in 3 weeks. Heading to Mazatlan Mexico for a month. 🇲🇽
Merry Christmas! I liked the Trump reason for the Canadian passport, many friends from the us try similar procedures, anyway I hope reason will prevail in us policies unlike what he says
Gab, visit Isla Mujeres playa Norte . I went as a woman alone in March. Like Maldives but cheaper. Would love to see your there. Off the coast of Cancun. But so different. Small and amazing 🌸Dyanna

Just special thx❤
Gabriel, if you have time or if it's not too late,
pop down to La Crucecita in Oaxca, right next to Huatulco.
It's a lovely little town with a nice little public square and little restaurants.
Nice couple of beaches there too.
Glad to see you back on the road Gabe. Keep on keepin' on! Time for you to choose a totally new place. Maybe Central or Southern Africa? Think you've only done Egypt and Morocco?
Puebla is a cool city
Hi Gabe, check out the Puebla/Cholula area, in central Mexico it's really nice.
Envious!
Nick in Montreal.
